I think you need to talk to your partner, explain your needs and listen to the objections (there must be a middle ground some place if you love one another)

Talk to your partner, draw a line down the middle and work from there.

The others are right in that you need to talk with your partner and try to find out why your partner is against it , try to find out if a small amount would be acceptable or doing it out of sight , your partner may have some fears about it as most do to start with so you will need to talk about these to find a possible way forward .

Your feelings need to come out in the open for both your partner and yourself. It's all about feelings for the most part. :)

When you are in a relationship BOTH partners must compromise for it to work! Love is a two way track! You need to talk or you will be heading to a train wreck! Good luck!

I agree with your first sentence but not the second. A heavy dose of fact-based education should be there, too.

I agree if your partner cares and wants you to be happy, then they need to understand your feelings. I had a partner that was not understand to my needs at all. Obviously we are not together.

Hi Paul,

I am assuming by your post that your partner knows about your desire to CD but does not agree? If your partner knows then you need to talk about how it makes you feel when you can dress and how it is important to you. I get that relationships are important and should not be thrown to the wind but if not dressing is causing you "emotional distress" then you need to get this out in your relationship early so it does not become a 500 pound elephant in the room later on. I am sure you might be able to reach middle ground (what both your can live with) if you talk it out. You may have to enter a "don't ask, don't tell (DADT)" relationship but in the end both means will be met. I highly recommend some good two-way communication on this point. I don't want to sound crass but if it is meant to be it will be.

Very positive advice from previous posts. It is best to keep communicating, go slow to find what is acceptable for BOTH sides, try to understand rather than demand, but be cautious in what is offered. Cding is a real part of who you are and IMO will never disappear.
