View Full Version : What if a CDer played a man playing a woman to get the girl?

Hi all,

For those who have followed some of my posts, you may (or may not) know I have been involved in a local community theatre in a play called Leading Ladies. The story centers around Leo and Jack two out of work actors who pretend to be two women in order to inherit a large fortune. Sounds like a role made for a CDer. :battingeyelashes:

My character Leo/Maxine is the mastermind behind the scheme and while the money is the original goal, he keeps up the charade in order to ruin the upcoming nuptials of Margaret (Meg) so he can marry her instead . . . BTW I get the girl in the end. :heehee:

We had our final performance last night and I had promised to post a few pics of my various outfits (this is a 1950s period piece). Now bear in mind these are not glamour shots and as a small theatre group (think folding chairs in a church hall) I had to rely on phone pictures of friends. In addition, the make-up was done purposely to appear like a dude did it with no make-up skills (sigh . . . it was so hard not to do my own make-up). Alas, while I could see vestiges of Isha in there, it was just me with a really bad wig and crazy make-up.

However, the outfits were very fun and I did get asked a lot how I managed to master the art of heels especially when I was running around the stage in them. :)

Enjoy

Hugs

Isha

Sounds like a lot of fun and just the perfect role for you :) It's too bad that you couldn't do your makeup how you wanted to, but you still look great :)

Isha,
You do still shine through.
The long orange/red dress shows a nice figure underneath.
Forget about glamorous makeup....
You did it, a great trouper.

Isha, I agree with everyone else, you still look good. It's the woman who makes the outfits really. I'm glad you enjoyed doing it. :)

Those appear to be "typical femme costumes" made just for the fun of it! Any talk about taking this show on the road or perhaps hitting "Broadway"? Glad you had fun & shared some pics.

Hi all,

I just wanted to thank everyone for their kind comments. The play was absolutely enjoyable and if you are a theatre fan and you run across group performing it in your area, I highly recommend you go and see it. Alas, we tore the set down this morning and now all we have is a bunch of great memories and I have made some new friends including a GG who will continue to be my wing girl on Isha outings from time to time.

I love this! How totally cool for you to get that part, it must have been such a blast playing it, even if you did have to dial it back a bit to be "convincing" - it reminds me of a character in John Irving's "In One Person" who never misses a chance to play a woman's part in local theatre productions, you'd get a kick out of it

Thanks Windy,

It was a real blast playing the role. I not sure if they were just kidding but one of the directors said well if we can't cast someone in one of the women's roles then we just might ask you.

Thanks Linny, it was a bit of a confusing role especially going from a tuxedo to a ball gown back to a tuxedo and back to a ball gown within a 15 minute timeframe.
