Hello, has anyone ever been outed by this site? I have really stepped up my dressing and makeup lately. And I want to share what I look like with someone besides my supportive SO. BUT I am scared to death of being outed by a face pic.

post in "picture and video gallery" tried to search my picture i just shared there and couldn't find it. not brave enough for face yet.
used search engine for this forum and found my avatar in a thread. 5th page or so, and mikell is the name of NFL player. but you probably know that, from your area. so it gets pushed back.
if your SO accepts is it that big a deal. has she known all along, family know, friends know ???

I have yet to share with SO...but i would still like it private.

I flit around the net with wild abandon. One of my regular sites is a forum where a few people have "known" each other a long time. From my time in tech, I know webmasters and admins can see where a person "comes from", and since I have come directly from this site when I'm not being careful, there is no question somebody (or more) knows one of their members is a regular here.

Anyone who we know who would see us on this site would have to also explain why they were here. The "pot" can't call the "kettle" black with impunity. :battingeyelashes::)

I would not worry, so long as your pics are in the gallery. I have googled my name here a number of times without running into any incriminating images of early aircraft or Robert Redford.

Hmmm, 'outed' ??? Not to my knowledge. However there have been members who have left the page open on their computer, or left the history on their computers and spouses and so's have found them that way. if you have a first and last name like yours and mine you can do a computer search by name. Just remember the number one rule of the internet , don't post anything you would not shout in a crowded room of friends and strangers.

I can't speak to this site since I am relatively new here. However, being fairly paranoid about such matters, my best guess is you shouldn't have too much to worry about. Just be very selective about what you share.

Anything you post on the Internet, be it words or pictures is out of your control once you post it. Anyone with access here can copy it and repost it or print it. Although it's against the rules, many members allow others to use their passwords or leave a computer up and running and logged into this site.

Anyone can join this forum and eventually gain access to the photo section. Nobody comes to your house to make sure you are who and what you say you are. And even if you delete your photos, they are still on a backup system somewhere and there's no guarantee that someone hasn't copied them for their own use as I posted above. It's also possible to find yourself in a situation where you are unable to delete your photos.

The bottom line is, if having someone see pictures of you dressed as a female would embarass you or cause you problems, it's best not to post them or at least make sure you can't be recognized.

If you don't want to be "outed" just keep your face off the site. That's what I do.

I haven't been outed by this site (I don't have a picture up yet anyway), but I was outed a few years back by Yahoo360 when it was still around. Lost my job because of it, too.

I have been outed by disgruntled banned members from this site on their blogs, their websites, youtube etc.... and guess what folks, I'm still alive and kicking :) You can post in the gallery, only members have access to that section, you can put a profile picture up (not an avatar that's on your posts), only members can see that.

All I can say, if you're outed for any reason at all from pictures, you pretty much only have yourself to blame for putting them online in the first place, it's what you do after the fact ;)

Seeing how my security clearance has been updated long after I got on here, I think it is a wash with the NSA. :heehee: You can be careful about posting things in this particular forum and others that don't need a password to read. But you are pretty safe. Do you work with anyone that you suspect reads crossdressing forums just to see who they might catch?

Looks like only the first two are actually Carla Westin. The rest seem to reference just Carla or Westin, rather than both. A better search would be searching the web with Carla Westin in quotes, rather than images, where quotes are ignored.

WhitePages says only: 2 people named Carla Westin in the US

.........I was outed a few years back by Yahoo360 when it was still around. Lost my job because of it, too.

There's certainly a story behind that comment.

If I was outed for any reason I just don't think there would be any noticeable impact. The HR department where I'm employed is so suffocated by political correctness and diversity they would probably make sure I walked on red carpets and rose petals lest I file a discrimination complaint. To everyone else that might have issue with it, including family, they can go pound sand.

If you’re not a forum member you only have access to four forums, Male to Female Crossdressing, Transmasculine, Transsexual Forum, and Upcoming Events; notice that the Picture and Video Gallery isn’t one of them. Keep your Avatar such that no one would recognize you from it and you should be relatively safe posting to the Picture and Video Gallery unless you are afraid that another member here is going to “out” you. How many members here do you suppose know your real identity?

Hence why I took down my avatar, and put up a generic one instead.

I outed myself to all family and friends so I wouldn't have to worry about such matters. Worked out so much better than I would have ever imagined or dreamed. I know not everyone can do that but you might be surprised at the results if you do come out to those who truly love and care about you.

I am not really worried about being outed by the picture and picture posts. What I cut back on was about the info I posted as who I am. I had enough info about where I am from, a very unique job I had in the past and what I am currently doing. I could have been outed easier by that than a picture. I think it is very slim to be outed here, but if so, what are they doing on here too? I am not really worried about it.

Actually, I was...I was looking at this site when my secretary walked in. It made no difference, except now I show her my pictures and ask for fashion advice.

Why would someone who would out you be on this site anyway. I guess it could happen. If you join the site you really can't leave unless they ban you and if you're not a dresser why would you join other than to try and destroy someones life if they are not out. The question asked was would someone really recognize you here fully made up. I've often wondered about that as when I look at my own pics I always think that yes they look like me but perhaps that's only because I know they are me. I did have an experience when I was editing some pics on the computer where a family member not in the know walked in on me and I was unable to close down the program showing my images. I tried not to look panic'd which I was and sat back to let her take a look. She walked away said "so cruising the internet I see". She never brought it up as she didn't know it was me in the heels and lovely pink panty, bra, full makeup but no wig. So if some recognizes us they would have to have the time to really take a look and also have a need to take a look. Still probably not a good idea to post images of yourself but love to hear others comments good and supportive ones so I do take the risk which I think is quite small.

"Why would someone who would out you be on this site anyway?" I'm sure there have been some really bias former spouses who were looking for some dirt to throw around in court. Nothing like a little fear of being revealed to get a generous property settlement.

On occasion I've researched Stephanie47 and pages of pictures pop up. Apparently, there is a woman who uses that handle quite extensively. I use a different handle on some other sites of a fairly vanilla nature and some comments do show up which is no big deal. Another male also uses that handle and his postings are vanilla also. There are postings under my real name of a totally vanilla nature; letters to the editor or comments or Amazon reviews. No big deal.

Several years ago I tried to see if I could gain access to pictures posted on this site. I was able to see pages and pages of postings using Yahoo. That surprised me. I don't know if that still happens as I haven't tried searching recently.

I never post anything I would not want to be general knowledge on my computer.

After Google and Bing searches, I can only find my femme Facebook profile! But the big big point that I have to make is that the searcher would HAVE to know the name you use in the first place........ Or to picture search would need a VERY good idea of what you look like dressed, a knowledge of which sites you use and a heck of a lot of time!! It is possible to worry too much......

I'm out to nearly everyone and don't care and yet even I only turn up in one or two places!

i don't think it's all that safe! it only takes one person to come on here 'for a laugh' and copy all the pictures onto another website. once you have posted it you don't know where it might end up

Dont know who would get outed by this site by accident. If you're trying to hide it, pretty difficult for someone to stumble upon your other life in this forum.

I've been online with face photos since 2007 on Flickr and have had over 1,000,000 views and never been "outed". I was outed to one of my best friends when I left Kristina pics on my camera. He still loves me, thinks it's funny and always asks about her. He's even offered to meet her out one night, but we've not got around to it yet.

The older I get, the less I give a shit about who finds out. So far, the people that loved me before they knew still love me the same after.

I haven't worried about it too much, I just figure anyone who asks, "Why did I see you on a CD site?" I'd just respond with, "Why were YOU there?"

Considering my avatar pic is over 30 years old and other than two family members and a couple of friends, it's unlikely anyone would recognize it as being me en femme.

If you want to keep something secret, don't put it online. Online is forever. That being said, everyone who knows my male self knows me as a very conservative, deeply religious, alpha male type. Most people wrongly assume that this also means bigoted, homophobe, transphobe, etc. etc. etc. even if I was outed, nobody would believe it anyway, so who cares?
