I started venturing out first driving around. Then walks to the mailbox. Then to the gas station. My first real public venture was to a local casino. Then I went to a gay bar a few times during the middle of the week. Denny's was the first place I ever went and had to speak to anyone. Then Ihop. After that I started going to the movies, Walgreens and even JC Penney's once dressed up. Shopping en femme was super exciting but I have only done it that one time. I would like to do that again. I would like to go to a fancy restaurant or some other fancy outing like a play or a concert.
What I have found is that no matter where you go, act like you belong there. :o)

What I have found is that no matter where you go, act like you belong there.

That is so true!

If you wander about constantly fearing you're awkward and standing out, you will make yourself awkward and stand out.

I go everywhere! Rather it be shopping, movies or whatever! Tuesday I will again be going to the hospital again for a procedure! And yes I will be fully dressed!

This morning was out for Coffee and some hardware for the house.
I prefer brunch with another girl, or movies or walk around botanic gardens, but mostly end up just checking the fashion in the malls.

You have the right places sussed out, of course there are the shopping malls and lots of nice boutiques.
Maybe when you get a little more adventurous. :)

when i did go out... and i will again soon....i went to gay bars and also cd supported party's as well here in the tri state area. I would like to attempt some dimly lit fancy upscale resuturants that cater to older crowds, I have gone in drab and noticed some "gurls" there so its on my to do list.

yea one day i should go chill and get a drink at a bar not like a gay bar is going to question the guy in my id lol
i just got bored doing the same thing over and over again, you can only see so many movies or shop so much
ok maybe there is no limit to shopping but still hahaha

At first it was just to meetings of my Tri-Ess chapter. Then they had this "Dress Barn Night" at a local mall. The Dress Barn opened after closing for just us, but we still had to go there dressed. It was fun and then some of us started going to the local diner after the meetings. Now I go anywhere, restaurants, movies, malls. As someone else said, just own it! If you're confidence is there showing others you belong there it will be noticed. If you are the "deer in the headlights" worrying all the time and looking to see who's watching you then you will stand out.

I have been every place enfemme that my male self has been. I have been to retail stores, grocery stores, malls, gay bars, parks, etc. One place that has always been a dream of sorts is to go on a date at a restaurant but since I don't like anyone touching my food and I don't buy any processed food at the store, I think going to a restaurant dressed to the 9's is out of the question. Next spring I plan on buying a cute women's bike outfit so I can start doing all my bike-riding enfemme :)

I've taken drives to the beach and gone for walks. I gain more self confidence each time, it's my having to speak to anyone that scares me a little. Kalylee, I am also an avid road cyclist, my January / February issue of Bicycling magazine came yesterday.... the gg on the cover is wearing a cute purple riding jersey... was thinking along the same lines as you :)

I started like most with drives in the safety of my car. When I did go public my first foray was a grocery store. I have now been to malls, grocery stores, stores in general, restaurants and even taken my car in for servicing (got quite a few stares from the mechanics hanging around the customer service counter that day). I agree, act like you belong and it really does become a non-event in most cases.

I started out with quick trips to local stores. Now my wife and I make trips out of town to visit museums, or spend the day shopping.

I go where I would go in male moe...the local grocery, dry cleaners, fed ex, Starbucks, the mall, gas station...even had an oil change and car was en femme. Your flight concerns appear, from the experiences of others, to be overblown, however. a few of our members routinely fly pretty.

I walk parks alot, bicycle them occasionally. En route to back and forth to them I stop about wherever to go to the bathroom , buy a drink or something to eat. I stop at any used clothes store I spot. I am in the discount stores, food supermarkets, major clothing stores, flea markets, malls, I usually do not go to restaurants as I just do not like to eat out. I carry better food choices with me and I eat small frequent meals or snacks. Where else? Hummm...I guess about any other place a woman would go...

I go out anywhere I would go in guy mode. I've been to the grocery store, the mall, the post office, office depot, home depot, the cleaners, the doctor and partially enfem on an airline flight. I try on clothes at department stores and Dress Barn, Bealles, Cato and Ross to name a few others.
Dress appropriately and walk in like you own the place. I've even been to church en fem. I figure God knows my heart and sees me everywhere else....he should expect to see me in church. Anyway, my soul wears no clothes at all.

I mostly go out to the club to socialize and dance. This pretty much benefits everyone. ;):battingeyelashes::)

Chalk another one up for just doing the normal day's activities. Yesterday it was snow shoveling, picking up prescriptions, Christmas shopping, and grocery shopping. Afterwards, I tried to meet up with a friend I hadn't seen in six months, but the weather got in the way.

My first outings dressed were in the car, fill up with gas and drive around, it's nice and safe. Then I would go to the self service car wash and wash my truck, LOL. Then a couple of times I had the chance to walk a busy beach in the late evening, everyone was so mellow no one cared or stared and it was dark anyway. Later I got the chance to have a few days of dressing and went to a popular gay bar on drag queen performance nights and had some nice visits with some of the GG's in the audience. A lot of gay bars are great and they will welcome any gender or orientation, just choose carefully. Now rarely when I get the chance to dress and go out in the evenings, I go to a busy part of town that is filled with people going to shops, bars, clubs and restaurants where people just love to be out and about and I just walk (until the heels make my feet hurt too much). I find being around more people makes it easier to blend in and I feel safer.
Hugs,
Stephanie

I went to a couple meetings. I dressed when I got there, so that probably doesn't really count as going out. I'll sometimes drive to a couple towns over and just shop, well, browse, at Kohls, Marshals, Payless, what ever presents itself. Actually probably the most comfortable experience I'vehad has been going to museums. First of all, I really enjoy museums whether in guy mode or gal mode, but it's also one of those places where i guess people just aren't primed to look for non-standard presentations, it just feels pretty easy to blend in.

Amanda, don't write off flying pretty. Read some of TxKimberly's stories in the Special Events forum. Kimberly flys all the time. Many girls on the site have flown, including me, with no troubles. The TSA folks I encountered were wonderful and treated me with respect.

Good luck on your adventures.

Amanda, you live in one of the other very LGBT friendly cities on our beautiful West Coast. You can go just about anywhere you would go in male mode. It is only a question of your own confidence as to the options available to you. Just build up from what you are currently doing.

I started slowly in places no one really was around, mostly late at night. Now, I've been to gas stations, grocery store, convenience stores, and mall. I've been to the movies twice and the casino. No one has said anything. I've been building confidence and finding out most people mind their own business. Look like you belong and you'll be fine.

I go to my meetings at the Gender Identity Center. I go to the Black Crown, both with my friends from the meetings afterwards and for Lori's cabaret shows. I've been to grocery stores, the mall, Walmart, Lane Bryant, and to the hair salon. I've been out on special occasions like PrideFest, the Day of Remembrance, and a CD friend's bachelorette party. In the coming year, I intend to get out even more often in Amy-mode.

I go every and and anywhere regardless of how I am dressed at the moment, usually girly. I feel normal, comfortable and natural either way and at all times. Work is no problem, as I work from home.

I go every and anywhere I want to dressed enfemme any time I want, mostly becauses I feel natural, normal, relaxed and comfortable as a girl. I even went and had "C" cup breast implants a while back to help get my girly body shape. Iv'e never looked back or felt odd or out of place, after first month or so. just be your self get out and relax be yourself in time you won't give it a thought. Also working from home as I do helps. Get over the every body is stairing attitude or feeling.

I have typically gone to malls and tried on dresses and other clothing. Most of my pictures on my Flickr page are taken just outside the dressing room. It's fun! Lately, I have gotten a lot better at my female voice, so I have interacted with people, including trying on wedding dresses.

I also have recently fulfilled a fantasy by going to various business events en femme. I have gone to 5 or 6 separate events, and I think that I have passed completely. The most recent one was a women's business conference at a college. The audience was 80% women... I completely passed, and interacted with everyone. What a rush!
