View Full Version : I couldn't believe it and I'm impressed!

I worked today with guy who I never worked with before. He showed up with perfectly manicured long nails, painted pink! What I wanted to say was "Wow your nails look great! Mine don't look that good when I paint them." But instead I just introduced myself and it was business as usual with me and the rest of the team. :)
So I had a million questions but being in a work environment my questions didn't seem appropriate. This experience has somehow boosted my confidence a bit even though I was already feeling pretty good. :daydreaming:

Although it is tempting, just remember, the right time will come along one day.

Following your first instincts are almost always the way to go.
(Unfortunatly, for me it usually gives me enough time to think things out - whereby I usually tend to REALLY screw things up  )

I would have said "WOW, your nails look great!" and left it at that. Maybe he would have continued the conversation, allowing you to get to know him better, or maybe he wouldn't thereby allowing you to learn something about him anyway. You wouldn't need to divulge anything about yourself that you didn't want him to know. Could have been a win/win situation!

If I had been in that same situation, I would have waited until lunch to strike up a conversation, I'm sure the co worker would have been flattered by your observation and perhaps even offered some tips.

Obviously the guy must be ______________?
Unique.
And wears/"dresses" how/what he wants. And was not breaking any laws. I assume he was not breaking any dress codes?
There are MANY ways you can offer a SINCERE compliment in a private conversation and then the ball is in his court.
Your mission [should you choose to accept it] is to report back.
Although many at this Forum will insist there has to be more to it, it IS possible he simply likes long painted nails and does not give a Rat's behind about what others might think or say about him.

I think a compliment is almost always welcome at the right moment but I can see that if you had co-workers around it would be difficult to find that moment.
I am seeing more and more CD’ers out in public these days and it hard to resist the urge to engage them in conversation. But if the moment is right a simple compliment can make them feel good in my limited experience.
