View Full Version : TG vs CD Simple poll

I know there is a very wide spectrum of people here. Some of us feel as if we were born into the wrong body, some of us feel comfortable in both male and female form and some of us just enjoy wearing girls cloths.

I was wondering if we can take a simple poll. Do you fit more into the tg spectrum or the cd spectrum. No explanations just a response of TG or CD

It would help if you defined CD and TG for the purposes of your poll. Without, results are pretty meaningless. Having low expectations that everybody knows what I mean, I'm a CD, and by definition TG.

To try and keep the poll simple and not get to involved with trying to have everyone explain I didnt have a better way of picking what end of the spectrum to pick from.

I guess when I refer to cd, I imply a male, who feels male, enjoys being male and is happy to go back to his male self when the skirt comes off. Tg is a very broad term, but I would refer to anyone who has issues with their gender. Hope that helps a little bit?

I don't make a distinction between CD and TG. To me, CD is under the TG umbrella, along with TV (which I distinguish from CD) and TS. And then all of the varying degrees in between. I know a lot of people have adopted the term transgender to mean those having GID and not merely a "fetishistic" tendancy toward clothing normally assigned to the opposite gender . I know that's not how it was originally presented. I think we're all TG, and then, also, in a more specific subgroup under that umbrella.

Yes, that is me a CD under the TG umbrella. The question is simple while the answer is complex when not everyone agrees with the terminology used and the individual meaning behind it. Throw in the country where you live and the terminology even gets more confusing, then add our own personal reasons for accepting or not accepting the terminology someone else uses, then you get true confusion and strong differences in opinions.

I see you clarified the definition and sometimes I do get a little confused so based on some answers I guess I lean TG just because I do at times feel mixed gendered. I mean I am a guy love my guy self but there are times I just prefer being and acting girly. I love women too and so not sure how that fits all of this

Erica Marie
12-08-2013, 05:35 PM
It seems as id aome know for sure they are just plain and simple cds. Tg still is a confusing term. Feeling girly at times, enjoying cloths and dressing up would probably belong in the cd spectrum. For those of us who feel we could be female no matter what we cloths we have on, it is what we feel inside I believe leans more towards the tg spectrum.

My response: TGDon't know, where I would fit in, I was born genetic male and had "C" cup breast implants to be fem, but kept every thing below intact just in case. First, anyone using the word "just"....stop! There is no "just" to you. That word is used for diminishing. You can say you just have two dollars on you but don't use just in reference to yourself or another person. We are each special and just infers a comparison.

The best I can figure is I'm a crossdresser. I really don't worry about gender issues much except for the clothing and presentation limitations we face. When the TG term first became part of the conversation I adopted it, but it probably isn't appropriate for my place in this world.

This CD forum has the following sticky that lists Trans-related definitions as established by WPATH. Cross dressing falls under the Transgender umbrella. Transsexuals are often categorized as being Transgender in society (out of convenience) but you will be hard pressed to find a TS who agrees with that. We are women or men (gender) who were born with our bodies being of the opposite (wrong) sex. It's a medical condition, not a gender condition.

Crossdressing (transvestism): Wearing clothing and adopting a gender role presentation that, in a given culture, is more typical of the other sex.

Transgender: Adjective to describe a diverse group of individuals who cross or transcend culturally defined categories of gender. The gender identity of transgender people differs to varying degrees from the sex they were assigned at birth.

Transsexual: Adjective (often applied by the medical profession) to describe individuals who seek to change or who have changed their primary and/or secondary sex characteristics through femininizing or masculinizing medical interventions (hormones and/or surgery), typically accompanied by a permanent change in gender role.

I know by all rights cd falls under tg and then there would be ts. But I know many of us do not fall under the ts spectrum because we will never be able to physically change our gender to female, weather it be by hormones or by surgery.
What I was hoping by this poll was to see who falls into the cd spectrum, for example feeling totally male, prefer to be male, but like to dress in female cloths from time to time. For the tg end I was hoping to refer to the members here who feel they are more female than male, those of us who prefer to be gender fluid, andgynous or live more time in female form. I know we will never have a clear cut line, but for all purposes here I would like to see a result of one or the other.

Labels can be contentious, especially if you feel that the label that others have assigned to you doesn't 'fit'. In my case 'CD' fits well enough.

And to answer Rogina, in my case it feels incongruous to dress like a women and answer to 'Bob' - hence 'Judith'

Erica in one statement you say that you understand that CD falls under TG, then later it appears that you want to redefine the umbrella TG terminology to be used for those people who feel more female. It seems to me that you are introducing the confusion. It also appears that you want to redefine TG to a more specific term. So, depending on how people accept the umbrella use of TG, the answers in this poll have little meaning. A better question would just to leave out the TG and CD and ask if one just likes to dress or does one identify as a female inside? On this site the members will never be in total agreement. Some here will never accept that TG is the umbrella for all of us. I think part of that reason may be that if they just like to wear clothes they don't want any inference that they may also want to be female, and where Crossdresser has no "trans" in the spelling of the word and Transgender" and "Transsexual" do, they may think that those two words are for the people further down the road or near each other at the same end of the spectrum.

While there's not a whole lot about so-called manhood that I admire and I'm not certainly not attracted to it sexually AND I much prefer women's clothing, shoes and hair to most men's designations, I still love having a penis and romancing a woman. So, I'd have to say I fall into the Compact Dicks category.

Within the spectrum, on the TG side (assuming for purposes of this poll that there is a CD vs. TG side, which there isn't) - struggled with GID all my life - fortunately have managed to live successfully as a married male. If I were much younger and hadn't met my wife, would likely transition. You have to play the cards life dealt you. I feel more relaxed and complete when en femme.

When I was very young, maybe 4, I got on my knees and prayed for God to make me a girl. Not because I liked girl clothes or wanted to look a certain way, but because I wasn't a girl, needed to be a girl and should have been a girl. Fifty nine years later I still feel that way, so it's definitely TG.

CD here, but I think I'm too deep in the closet to know what I really am even as I approach my senior years. I had a desire to be a female as a teen but accepted myself as a male. This thread shows why polls shouldn't be taken seriously IMO. If the question were asked differently, some answers would be changed.

So true. And it depends on how old you are too. Every TS I have met and talked to (six) thought they were only a CD early in their journey.

Again,to comment on those defiant CD's...Cross dressing is part of the TG spectrum. Ten years ago,I was a professional dressing assistant at a "Crossdresser's Boutique" outside of Boston. I put many "Jim's,Frank's and Bob's" in bras and panties so they could experience their first "transgasm"..They didn't need us to call them "Sandra" to enjoy the look and fel of the feminine trappings..So,despite your protests,I invite you all to come under the TG umbrella and share space..

I've found that the TG spectrum is under the cross-dressing umbrella unless you're T.S. ..I'll be more than happy to visit your spectrum but I will never be TG.. Not being petty over words but they really do have some meaning no protest here..:)

SamanthaJ

I doesn't look like you will get any clear answers on this Erica. There are as many shades of CD/TG/TS here as you could wish for.
I admitted to myself some time ago that I cross dress because deep down there is a part of me that wants to be a woman...even if its just for a while.

So you can put a tick in the CD column but i think you might just need a few more on your spreadsheet.

CD only for me... but I believe this question has many more layers of complexity than is evident with just a one-dimensional measure. And how many times have I asked myself that question...
If I'm being very male (bear with me... :battingeyelashes:) I'd say I'm just turning back to Elizabethan times when the male was the peacock and slashed silk doublet and hose was as testosterone-laden as you could get - but perhaps that's just a degree of denial. One for the therapist's couch, perhaps...

I'm all about the gender spectrum. I'm more interested in the "experience" than the actual clothing.

I don't have a problem with being labeled as TG. the word is,.....say it, T R A N S G E N D E R

But I still have to show up to work in my guy clothes.

TG who'd like to have the courage to be TS but who used to think they were CD but started as a TV when that was the accepted term!!!!!

The worst of it is that I barely CD anymore, less need for it once you realise who you are and that it's not about how you look but how you feel.

You know this poll is pointless right?

TG - transgender - an umbrella term for transsexual; transvestite or cross-dresser; genderqueer; androgyne; bigender etc...

So everyone here is TG, stop posting threads like this, they are very annoying to say the least.
