View Full Version : Sticks and stones may break my bones...

... And what actually did was an icy walkway in Arizona the Monday before thanksgiving: I slipped and fell hard, fractured my left wrist, now wearing an awkward and tediously annoying cast from thumb to above the elbow. Cranky old bear holes up in his cave, drinks wine in lieu of painkillers, watches a lot of TV and sleeps a lot. And this old bear, who ordinarily dresses about half time, has almost no attention on crossdressing, it is hard enough to snake baggy work shirts over the cast, it's hard enough to keep warm here in the northeastern early winter.

"Almost no attention." The other day I wriggled experimentally into a bra with forms, they made the bad arm even more awkward, bah. And I don't own any drab underwear, so there's always that. But I'm letting my beard grow, wearing hats indoors instead of wigs, postponing to re-wax my chest, and haven't been watching makeup tutorials on utube. I'm reading this site, but other than that not even clothes-shopping on line.

That doesn't mean I will purge, I have no intention of trashing my wardrobe because I know that Miss Jackie will be back and I will be happy when that can happen. I don't have any bad feelings about dressing up, I just don't have any head-space for it right now.

I did ask my sweet wife to pin a rhinestone high-heeled slipper onto my sling, my membership badge even though I am inactive. And I am so grateful to my wife for her unwavering support, she nurses me, feeds me, and lets me off household chores. She's even offered to help me dress if that was what I needed, she is the best.

Having a hard time controlling orientation of the attached photo. Maybe this will work.

OUCH, Poor baby! I see the painkillers and wine make you stand on your head for photographs :). Hang in there it will be healed before you know it and you will be back in good form soon.

Bummer. Maybe after you've mended a bit you'll let your wife help you into something comfy but pretty.

Go for the silk hon. It'll slide over that nasty old cast a lot easier. And don't fret, you'll be back and more beautiful than ever before you know it.

I'm saddened to hear of this, Jackie.

The best thing you can do right now is keep moving and active as much as you can without undue discomfort. The slippery clothes will make things easier for you.

One day Jackie you may look back and laugh....
For now, bummer....
Get well soon.

Wine is a good thing! Combine that with a nice satin robe and nightie, maybe a little polish on your nails, light perfume and you might start to feel more like yourself. Get well soon!

Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement. Bethany, rather than go for a pretty manicure (I can't even clean my nails without help), I'm going to the dental hygienist this afternoon to get my teeth flossed. Now that is going to feel good!
