Have you every done anything to where you have to show your ID while you were dressed up?

LOL! I have. Buying alcohol at a store, getting into a bar or club, showing my ID for using my card in a bar, got stopped by a cop once. So, anything?

Unfortunately much too old to get carded at a bar or liquor store (boy or girl). However, when I travel for business "en femme" I normally book using the government rate so I always have to show my military ID - no issues to date. As well, I always have to show my driver's licence when I rent a car for the same business trip . . . again no issues.

Oh wow! You travel en femme. You should respond to my other thread as I've addressed that and I really wanna try it!

Yeah, same here. I never got a reaction.

Lots of times at clubs and once driving. No problems other than the bouncer who insisted on calling me "sir."

First time I was driving while dressed I was pulled over for speeding while on my way to pick up my wife to go shopping and attend a event! A lot of firsts that day!

Never really a problem except sometimes you surprise people. Halloween I once had the ticket taker's mouth drop open and he then asked another staff person and before I knew it there was a whole group of staff coming over to look at me...it was fun though - for a party, they liked my costume and could not believe I was not female.

I have posted this story previously.

Some time ago I was on the motorway at night with the wife dressed when a few cars ahead there was an accident. I saw the whole thing as one car changed lanes without signalling pushing anther car into the central reservation that then collided with anther. Five cars in total! I stopped in time and we got out to help. the motorway was completely blocked and after checking every one, no one was hurt badly just shook up, we returned to our car and let the emergency services do their job. The police come over and took a statement, it was then I realised I would have to give my male name "SH!T" I could have died on the spot. He just took all the details and never batted an eyelid, even said "thank you Miss we will be in touch"

I've ridden Amtrak en femme and have had to show an ID before boarding. I've never had a problem.

Years ago when I was at that tender age needing to show ID and it was still illegal for a man to wear a dress most places, I was driving home from a friends house. Me being a brave soul, I decided that I would drive emfemm. Well as luck would have it my car broke down. Just up the road was a bar. Not just a bar but a Biker Bar (oh why didn't they have cell phones in those days?) After all attempts to get the car running failed, I had no choice. I had to go use the phone at the bar. I summoned up all the courage I could and off to the bar I went. I entered the front door. The room went silent. The record in the jukebox changed and everyone went on with what they were doing. I walked up to the bar and asked to use the telephone in my best female voice. Thank god it was kind of noisy! I made my call and got a tow truck coming. As I got up to leave, to of the biggest baddest, nasty looking dudes you ever saw stopped me. Not really, they were just headed up to the bar for another drink and were right there in front of me (I think I pissed down my leg). I made it out the door and was walking away before anyone said anything to me. The tow truck arrived just about the time I arrived. He loaded up my car and gave me a ride home. I ran in my house and had a heart attack. I still laugh about that night all these years later.

I've had several encounters with the police (traffic stops, headlight out, 5mph over the limit...) and they've never been anything other than totally professional.

The only other time was while shopping. I'd forgotten to sign the back of my new credit card, so the cashier asked to see some ID. She glanced at it, then went back to talking about how much she liked to color of the blouse I was buying :)

About a year ago I was staying in a hotel in Boston. I had dressed up to go out and meet the local TG group, and realized I didn't put my car keys in my purse after I had stepped out the door. Of course, this was exactly the time that the card key decided to demagnetize. After about twenty tries to get the door to open, I resigned myself to my fate. I took the elevator down to the front desk and asked for them to fix my key. The gentleman said "Sure, but I need to see some ID." Wondering which deity I had p*ssed off that day, I pulled out my ID and said "I look a bit different today." He just laughed, re-programmed the key, and I was on my way.

If you want to hear more about the story, you should be able to find a thread I posted in the Special Events and Occasions area back in November 2012.

I have often shown ID, especially buying season train tickets.
In London I had a photo taken in a photo booth with long hair, this covered me in both modes for a weekly ticket on the tube.

Traveling pretty. Have to show it at airline check-in, TSA Checkpoint, car rental, and hotel check-in. Since once you star by leaving home en femme, there's no where to go but forward. I loved it the first time, and it's still not a ho hum routine for me -- more of an adventure.

Try it, you'll love it.

Rhonda

Yes. Several bars I have been into they asked to my my ID and also one time I got pulled over by the Highway Patrol and the officer asked to see my ID.

Yes, twice. Results were unexpected both times.

o Pulled over dolled up by the police in a left turn trap. Policeman asked to see my driver's license. I feared the absolute worst, but he was absolutely 100% professional, although he did tack on a bonus citation for not wearing prescription eye wear.

o Presented my driver's license at the cage at the Riviera in Las Vegas to get my preferred status card. The response was "what room are you in, Fred, will you want tickets to the show tonight, Fred, how long will you be staying with us, Fred." So unnecessary, but it stayed in Las Vegas :-)

out riding around one saturday nite, drove into state park which closes at sunset, pulled overby game warden who patrols the area, a very nice young fellow who checked to see if I was wanted, then asked " do you dress like this a lot, Mr. C--------, " I said yes, " ok sir, have a safe evening" I went on bout my business

Let's see, I have had a police stop. Many times when using a credit card. Sometimes I wonder if some want to see the ID to see what they find on it. :D I had one girl ask for my ID when I was buying cigarettes for my wife. It looked like she mentally locked up so I finally said "Yes, that is me".

I was stopped by cops once and I had to show them my ID. It was terrifying occasion for me, but luckily they acted very professional, but never the less, I saw they were very amused by the whole thing.

I've had to a few times:

Once I got pulled over by the CHP. He was very professional, gave me no trouble whatsoever except he did give me the speeding ticket.

Once I needed some allergy medicine. I warned the clerk the picture doesn't look much like me at the moment but she was super-nice and very supportive!

A few times when I've checked into a motel (you have to show ID in California). No big deal. Most motel clerks have seen worse & weirder than me!

I've had to do it quite often while shopping en femme when I use my credit card. I have cards with Stephanie on them and when they request a driver's license I simply state that I look different now because I'm transitioning. Most SAs say "No problem." because the address matches what is on their screen. Sometimes I even get a compliment. One SA could not stop asking me questions about where I thought the best buys were. Loved my shoes.

I was stopped by the police once on a dark street, he pulled up alongside me and asked what I was doing out at 4am. Once he realized I was a guy he just sent me on my way. I was relieved because I thought for sure he would want my ID, and it was in my car!

Ha...

Yep and it scared the **** out of me, because I never suspected it. The lady behind the counter kept looking back and forth between the ID and me from the side and I pretended the entire time to be placing stuff back in my purse. Totally concentrated.

Then she said... "Maam, will there be anything else I can help you with today?" and I said "What time does breakfast run through this morning?" and that was that.. she answered my question, I sat down and ate breakfast in the room with another guest or two.

I look like a mess and no one noticed. The fright the desk attendant must of had when I handed her my ID and credit card, must have been significant. I honestly think, she had no idea what to do but believe that I was a CD. ... It was in lands that were not so friendly to CD's and this kind of thing. I don't know what I was thinking, but I did it and will never forget it.

Surprisingly , I've had many many incidents that have occurred to me since I first went out in the early seventies but I have never had to show my ID.

Yup, it happens. My favorite happened last year, on the way to a TG support meeting. I stopped at UPS to pick up a package. It was medicines, so it required ID and signature to release the package. So I walk in, sign in, and the guy behind the counter asks me for my ID. I give it to him, and he tells me "no hon, that's HIS ID, I need to see yours." So I told him: "I can assure you sir, that really is my ID - that's me from about 3 months ago." He looked at the ID, looked at me, looked again, and then it finally hit him - "Oh, uh, yes, I uh, understand. Just sign here please." He looked rattled as all hell. Probably felt guilty for checking out my rack, I guess. ;) (I was wearing forms.)

I will get a legal name change and gender marker change this year, and fix this problem for good. But in the meantime, it's not a big deal, although I really am starting to worry about someone NOT accepting my ID. The differences in my appearances are even greater than they were a year ago...

Yep. The last time was when I cashed a postal money order at the post office. The clerk carefully looked at me and my ID like 3 times, said sign here and that he would be right back. He brought back the cash, counted it and said have a nice day. To me it was no different what so ever than if I were cashing it in guy mode.

Not yet...but looking forward to it. That means I'll be out & about!

I just hope to God it doesn't involve any police stopping me or something
like that. Who knows how they'd react to a trembling amazon CD!

Nothing too exciting.. just checking in into hotels and stuff. I have natural long hair.. so my ID photo is just a closely shaven me with long hair and no make-up.

I don't think they even notice the "M".. :P

Really, most police ought to be courteous and respectful to you. Let's consider two outcomes from a traffic check:
- scared, and shy CD
- insane meth head dude with a pistol

Yeah, they'll be pretty happy to see you.

ive had to show my id, one time! I had been out at midnight for a walk, dressed as Melissa, when a cop car drove up behind me. 1st, i was wishiing it was just another car. and kept walking as i was. i crossed the street, and kept walking. and he passed me up. and turned around and came back. he asked me for id, and i was so scared. he looked it over and i politely asked, "did i do something wrong?" he said no, and that they were out looking for a runaway... then he asked if i did this often, and i said kinda, as its only way i can be out. he said ok, and asked what i call myself... and he then said i could go.

one of my scariest events, yet also exciting

Melissa hon, going out alone at night for a walk is NOT SAFE! You should thank god it was a police car. Girls get hurt really badly doing what you are doing. Please find another way - I know it is frightening, but what you are doing is just so dangerous!

Carded many times at bars, usually they are nice but sometimes they are bitches and call you "Sir."

Stopped once in a drunk driving checkpoint, the officer did not care once he discerned I was sober.

My license has a female picture of me with my male name and the dreaded "M" still on it. It has been seen by numerous folks for credit card acceptance, one police officer, and other reasons. So far, no-one even usually blinks.

But if they stare too hard at my male name I generally just say, "Yeah, my parents had quite a sense of humor!" Another alternative might be "My parents really wanted a boy."

Hugs,
Persephone.

I have been stopped by the police for traffic violations as well as being a victim/witness to a crime. I have also been carded at clubs and when buying booze, but I think those times were more for the curious as I was obviously not a teeny bopper at the time. I have also had to use ID for hotel rooms and rental cars. Many mixed reactions but nothing too painful.

At Kohl's a few years ago. I used the Kohl's card and the SA wanted to see my license. She was surprised that I was a man, she had thought I was a woman. She had helped me quite a bit before I paid. I was really flattered and amazed!

Yes, many times. It's always after I use my credit card that the clerk want to see my ID. I had enough of explaining why I look different, so I went to the DMV to get an updated pic, only cost $7.00, but they mail it to you and I am still waiting for that.

At least I was able to get my school ID updated faster.

Pretty new to going out so yes the thought ofvthis actually crossed my mind yesterday and I said to my wife"actually maybe you should go get us cigarettes .. sorry babe " and fear being pulled over while driving or using credit card or you know insert a million other feared scenarios here .....at least I'm not alone lol

I got pulled over once while dressed cause I lurched over the crosswalk line while I kicked off my pumps, lol, when the officer came to the window he said license and registration maam.... then turned to go back to his car after looking at my license and said, I mean sir he let me go... they used to check my license when I bought beer or wine at the grocery or if I wrote a check but they know me now and don't bother anymore. The first time I wondered how awkward is this but I said well I'll show you, but this devil isn't as pretty as me, lol then I figured they just wanted to see the date so I'd cover the photo a lil bit with my thumb.

My last trip Vegas, I had been to see Amy at Just You to get made over (she is awesome by the way, help me set up my manicure and pedicure at a friendly place). Then I had ordered ticket to see the Beatles Love Show. When I had to pick up my tickets at the will call they required photo id. I got big eyes from the girl behind the desk. I don't think she got what she expected. My avatar is from that trip. My normal boy look has a goatee and real short balding hair. I think she was surprised. I love it. Very nervous being out and about but thoroughly enjoyed the experience.

Some years ago I was driving in Baltimore, going a bit too fast. A female police officer pulled me over and took my license. I was mortified...especially as I caught a glimpse of her chuckling to herself.

When she returned to my vehicle she asked me to step out of my car. She proceeded to give me a field sobriety test. This was just a ruse to get me out of the car as there was no evidence whatsoever that I had been drinking. (I hadn't been.)

She watched me walk a straight line in my high heeled pumps and she purred something like, "nice legs, hon." I felt so validated and delighted in the conpliment. I will cut out some of the story to get to the point where she invited me out to Hammer jack's (used to be a hot nightclub in the city.) I asked her if she wanted to take me, Anaissa, or my male alter ego. Without pausing she chose my feminine persona. All these years later, we remain friends.

By the way, I never got the ticket. :)

I went to Lens Crafters once with Friends. We were all in Fem mode. I bought new Glasses there. I didn't have any problems until I gave the sales person my prescription and it had my man name on it and I paid with a check. It was funny to watch the sales clerk scratching his head as he looked at my drivers license with the other sales people. They looked at us and whispered while we watched them and laughed. In the end I received my glasses without and problems. Goooood times.

So many positives here! The world didn't end for us showing male ID, did it? Once I was checking into a motel -- the wife was in the car -- and had to show my driver's license with the credit card. "Ma'am is this your husband's credit card?" Nope -- mine. He took it in stride. For those of you who fly pretty in the Atlanta airport -- I think they card everybody in the restaurants. I've had mixed reactions but always got served!

Almost weekly, at clubs, whenever I order a drink or buy smokes...Same when I'm a guy...Suprisingly I have had people stare at my photo more intensely in guy mode...noones ever thought twice as a girl....some people don't think i'm old enough as a guy. Every time I get carded as a guy I expect them to think its a fake ID or something but as a girl I could care less for some reason...funny huh?
