View Full Version : The Actress you dreamed of being as a kid.

I got this idea for a thread because GiGi just came on and I remember as a kid going to the movie and wondering how I could get myself to blossom into something like Leslie Carron. Also I wished I could look and sing like Doris Day in any movie she made. Have fun with this.

Judith Hoag, she played April O'Neil in the original Ninja Turtle Movie. I thought she was gorgeous and so confident.

Don't think I had a fantasy to be her, but I've always wanted to look like Cameron Diaz...she's beautiful! and that smile?! *swoon*

I had some weird dreams when I was younger about being female cartoon characters...(shrinks would be having a party with that one no doubt lol).

As far as female actresses I would have to say Jacqueline Smith. I watched Charlie's Angels because of her. She has always had this air of feminity and elegance about her to me. I loved her long brown hair.

Stephanie, if your avatar is actually you, I have to say you look a lot like Princess Diana. I mean that in a very positive way. Check out some of her pictures when her hair was a little longer and I am sure you would agree.

As a kid, always liked Gale Storm. In My Little Margie, and a really early version of Love Boat called the Gale Storm Show where she played a cruise entertainment director.

I hadn't given this a thought until I started dressing en femme.....I had been told that I look very much like Linda Evans from Dynasty and I was flattered and taken by the compliment. Ever since, she has been my model to emulate her look and sensual appeal.

Happy Holidays All!

Only later in life did I dream of wanting to emulate a female star.
Just because I dressed when I was quite young I still had male heroes until I was about fifteen.
Then the rot set in. :)

That is easy Sandra Dee. I grew up in the days of petticoats and shirt waist dresses. My sisters had the outfits, which I ended up with. By the time I graduated high school I became a Doris Day devotee. Working for a high end department store enabled me to buy very classy clothes and the SAs were more than helpful in selections.

It would be tough to make a choice between Ann-Margret and Barbara Eden.
Wish I had that choice to make.

There is no way on earth I could ever be confused for anyone but the bride of Frankenstein. But the woman I fell in love with on the screen was, and still is, Natalie Wood. One of my best friends in the world is a ringer for her.

Jane Seymour... Lesley-Anne Down... Jenny Agutter (In Logan's Run not The Railway Children! :)) and, of course, Diana Rigg and Honor Blackman.
I might include Joan Collins but perhaps just a bit too OTT?
Too many memories... too long ago... bwaaaahhhh!

Although I didn't think in those terms as a kid. Now I think Joanna Lumley or Felicity Kendal. But really I wanted to look like my sister Aisling, who I suppose looked a bit like a version of those two. As it happens I do look a bit like her when made up and dressed naturally enough. So it's a bit of a pattern. My wife fits the pattern too being naturally blonde and similar. I guess I married the woman I wanted to be.

On the other hand I often harbour a desire to dress like Velma Dinkley???? Yes the geeky one on Scooby Do.

The first two women I ever had a crush on...

I never wanted to be a woman, so I can't name one. I would probably choose someone "plain." If I looked like a Victoria's Secret model, I would get alot of unwanted attention.

When I was little I had a huge crush on Annette Funicello on the Mickey Mouse Club. I didn't really want to be her I just wanted to be like her. Same with Shelley Fabares from the Donna Reed Show. I would stay up all night just to see a Late, Late, Late Show starring Ginger Rogers or Vera-Ellen. I wanted to dance like that. I also had naughty fantasies involving mean women like Barbara Stanwyk, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis or Lauren Bacall. I didn't want to be them, I wanted to be their pet.

And just in case anyone thinks I was being too partisan earlier :Peace: here are my international choices which - I think rather cleverly :heehee: - are also great singers/ musicians...

Mortified to admit that as a child I used to drape the bed sheets around myself every time I saw Gone With the Wind so that I could feel like Scarlett O'Hara in Gone With The Wind (Vivien Leigh was the actress)

I'm actually not that old just was always drawn to the older movies.

As a kid, I had no female model. As I aged and tried to develop my feminine persona, I grew to admire the Lara Croft character--hence my first name. So, if I could be like an actress, I guess it would be Angelina Jolie. I really like the leggy brunettes in film.

Another vote for Diane Rigg, as Ms Emma Peel, and even more so as the Bond girl/only wife in "In Her Majesty's Secret Service", she's the only reason to watch that Bond film as she steals every scene she's in.

A young Natalie Wood, innocent, fragile and beautiful...

And maybe my favorite, Bonnie Bedalia.

Without a doubt, either Sandra Bullock, or Shannen Doherty. I realize that Sandra is a polarizing figure for some reason, but in my opinion, she's got the girl next door image, a kinda understated beauty, and overall a pretty wholesome image (except for the marrying Jesse James thing)... Shannen, on the other hand, has always been a kinda edgy, unapologetic wild woman, but she's pretty. ;)

Ginger. That's funny because you actually kind of look like Maryanne.
Who most would agree was the prettier one , even though ginger did have a to die for wardrobe.

I always wanted to be bat girl or cat woman from the original series ,

I loved Posh Spice when I was a teenager and wanted to be one of the Spice Girls. I also adored Madonna and wanted to emulate her. Her outfit in Four Rooms is still to die for. I know they are known more for their music then acting...so actress wise, Jennifer Love Hewitt. I hope I do not catch flak for this, but wanting to dress and be a girl when I was a teen I wanted to have 'grils' like hers.

I can't remember any specific actresses, but I do remember lots of female singers. Trisha Yearwood, Wyonna Judd stick out in mind for some reason. Now it's Kate Middleton!
