Looking for Suggestions in the Big Apple

I will be travelling alone to NYC in a few days and would like to get some ideas from any of you ladies who may be familiar with the TG/CD side of the city. Looking to do some shopping... accessories, heels, skirts and blouses, etc. Are there any safe places to be out at in the evening? Just thinking about the idea of pushing the envelope of my femme side.

A few recommendations:

If you are looking for shopping anywhere in the East Village is great. Very trendy and cool and very bohemian.

For tg nightlife:
I have been to this place with Amanda and a large group of people and it was a really a fun evening.

Good luck & enjoy your trip! I found nYC to be totally t-cool and although I dont' know of all the places we went Amanda was dressed in broad daylight on Thanksgiving weekend and we had no problems just wandering about Manhatten.

This is an open city. Our CDI girls go out everywhere. Macy's is popular with a lot of people. We go to almost every restaurant in the city, many bars and clubs, you name it, we've been there.

I suggest you go to www.cdinyc.org. Also be sure to contact them and attend a Wednesday open house on any Wednesday. You will receive a great welcome.

I will be back in the city on 1/24 if your there that long. I would be glad to take you out on the town.

Hi There Kathy & Kristine,
Grazzi for the recommendations. I plan on roaming the East Village on Sunday. My luck, my trip to NYC has come to the attention of some other folks in the office who will be there Sunday PM as well. Now I'm trying to decide if there is a way for me to gracefully decline their invitation. Lucky Chengs would not be to their speed. Oh well.... I'll work something out.

I think you'll be pleased that the laws in nyc protect your right to cross dress in broad daylight, anywhere in any of the 5 boroughs:

I've seen cd's at major dance clubs here in nyc. And my recollection is the GG's were fawning all over them. The East Village is definitely cd friendly. I've seen guys wearing peasant dresses walking down east 8th in broad daylight, men wearing mini skirts and knee high boots in broad daylight, and a cd (with a GG) walking down 6th street. The CD looked like a cover from NYLON magazine -- simply amazing.
