View Full Version : influence of 'glamour' models on your look

something i mentioned in another post about looking at your reflection in the mirror made me start thinking about this. when i look at myself in full make-up, wig, lingerie, stockings heels in the mirror i tend to go through a sequence of poses that all come from my early love of softcore glamour photos of beautiful girls.

i live in the UK and during my formative teenage years when i first began to crossdress, i would (like most teenage boys) also look at pornographic magazines whenever the possibility presented itself.

this wasn't always easy. there was a lot of sharing magazines with friends. hardcore pornography was virtually impossible to access in the UK unless you went to some really specialist place. typical top-shelf 'mainstream' pornography simply focused on nice girls posing suggestively. because of that, there was a lot of emphasis on the presentation and i would drink in all the details of what the girls were wearing, how they did their make-up and hair etc. from that i developed a strong aesthetic that still holds true in the way i dress myself today.

most of the low-rent magazines i looked at (cheap, popular mags like Escort, Razzle, Fiesta etc) often featured average looking 'girl next door' models...attractive but also an 'attainable' level of beauty..the sort of girls you could imagine actually dating (or, if you were inclined to crossdress, to aspire to look like) and they certainly influenced the direction that my cross dressing would take.

i should also make it clear at this point, if you don't know anything about me, i'm not the sort of CDer who has any interest in passing in public, or having a 'casual', 'modern' or sophisticated look, or any level of acceptance in the outside world. i'm a secretive lingerie fetishist who hides away and dresses purely for my own wicked pleasure)

i've really enjoyed reading other CDers stories and its always fascinating to find similar experiences to my own, but at the same time i am finding that my particular 'kink' is very specific. i haven't seen anyone else mention an honest interest in, or inspiration from, glamour/pornographic imagery. just wondering if anyone else will admit to it..?

Hi Lacie,
I can see where you're coming from with this (and yes, similar for me but from an earlier generation of Penthouse and Men Only) and while it might have influenced my choice in lingerie, I think my fantasy look is somewhere between 90s business/ high class h**ker look and more Hollywood movie influenced. Perhaps I just struggle with classic porn or I'm probably just too snobbish. ?. Errr... that should be aspirational..:D
And I haven't done stockings for years, just struggle with all that elastic stuff going on... maybe I'm missing something :daydreaming:

Annette Funicello with blonde hair or Sandra Dee, I was taller than they were anyway.
No glamour models in my life.

I think it's really common.
Most girls like to glam it up. Even though most of my everyday clothes are chosen so that I pass as well as I can, I love wearing 'sexy' stuff.
It's an exquisite feeling knowing the lingerie under your leggings and jumper cost a weeks wages.

Lacie & Katey, I'm with you, too. I have gone out a lot in the past , and enjoyed it. It satisfied a certain need, but now it's "been there, done that" and I'm quite happy to stay home to enjoy another need, a deeper kind of pleasure and satisfaction. I'm neither a prude nor someone addicted to hardcore porn. Seeing people "do it" in whatever form they do just doesn't do it for me. Softcore porn has always been my interest. I would go through the kind of magazines Lacie mentioned as well as the mainstream LOOK and LIFE magazines and catalogs looking for those things that interested me: great heavy makeup with emphasis on lips and eyes, and very high heels, especially classic pumps, with a somewhat lesser interest in lingerie. That's what I wanted for myself when I was able to get things for myself and enjoy the pleasure of wearing them. For sure, mirrors were essential, as I transformed for the look to a far greater degree than for the feel or for just "being" feminine. Making up and dressing for myself in private, there were no rules, and I could take the transformation as far over-the-top as I wanted.
If those who dress for the same reasons, to create the very specific image that excites, were to compare notes down to the finest detail (something we can't do here), we would certainly find that we are unique - it's doubtful that my exact ideal transformation end result would be the same as anyone else's. Generally, probably.
To answer your question, Lacie, the look of those glamour models, that is, what they wore and how they made up, had greater influence on me than their pose. But a beautiful model in a sexy pose is better than without the sexy pose. I was always fascinated with transformation magazines - how guys could attain such a look. For me specifically, the look that I like best and try to do when I transform in private is made up of different elements from different models. I combine those elements to achieve the look that excites me to the maximum. It's the best I can do, given face and body I'm stuck with. But when I do my best, my eyes and brain have a filter that allows me to see the girl that I like, unspoiled by the real guy underneath.

ooh katey you are SOOO missing something. i don't feel dressed without stockings. and none of these new-fangled elasticated hold-up things - its gotta be with a suspender belt every time!

yes i think i know what you mean about that filter. when i get the look just right i think i nlook amazing in the mirror. but then i take a photo..unfortunately the filter doesn't seem to work on pics too :-(

Low rent! Low rent! They were all we could afford. :TamaraCroft: Excellent letch mags for a developing lad but this girl has taken nothing from those mags though....well not consciously. Fetish dressing was how I started so no problems understanding the stockings, suspenders lingerie bit.

I was more influenced by the lingerie models in the Sears and Roebuck catalogue!

Although long before my time I preferred Elvgren and Vargas over other magazines. The teasing classy look, the hint of sexuality without blatant exposure/GE/paintings (http://www.gilelvgren.com/GE/paintings.php?categoryID=7) There is something sexier about what you THINK is under there.

Don't get me wrong, I looked at Penthouse and Playboy (was married to a Denver Hutch Bunny for awhile) but I remember thinking "I wish I were her" more than I wish I could be with her

Oh yeah, I totally agree with you on this. The implicit is so much sexier than the explicit.

Never followed any glamor models, probably couldn't put a face and name together.
I have found a pretty face in a magazine and studied it to get a particular make up look.
Clothing style I prefer to put together on my own, but are mainly something I've seen
worn by women in public.

I never put much stock in glamor models because I thought of them as am unattainable fantasy. I also believe many of the photos in the magazines were doctored to portray the ultimate desire of high fashion. For me, the average girl with natural good looks and ability to dress and apply the proper makeup to enhance her beauty was the one I wanted to emulate.

This isn't about emulating the average woman, the natural look, or glamming it up occasionally. This is about drawing inspiration from the gorgeous super-sexy models, whether in photographs or Vargas-like drawings/paintings. No, given our male bodies, we'll never achieve that look perfectly, but we can experience it through crossdressing by wearing the sexy lingerie, high heels, wigs, and makeup.
I'm a guy who likes to dress up, not having a feminine identity I need to express by crossdressing. Still, I have wondered what it would be like to be a beautiful, shapely women. In those fantasies, I would always dress sexy, wearing the highest heels, sexy lingerie, and heavy but perfectly applied makeup to accentuate the eyes and lips. I'm sure if I were a woman, I wouldn't think this way. This is my male brain talking.
Even if I'll never be able to achieve perfection as I see it in those pictures, I can experience the look and feel and scents and sounds by crossdressing in the way that makes me feel beautiful and sexy as I see it in my eyes and brain. This may not be typical of CDers, but there are a lot of us out there (and here).
There's not a right or wrong way to crossdress.

I get tired of doing the same eye make up all the time. So I frequently pull pics out of magazines, and try to copy makeup styles of the models.

Same for me. Mostly my makeup is influenced by what is in the magazines. Mostly that "f*** me" dramatic look lol

I keep a photo of Adriana Lima (victoria secrets model) on my computer dashboard....when im hungry...i click on it to remind myself that I am the exact same height as her and need to lose a few pounds to get in her ballpark weight wise. Works like a charm...

.

agreed! i realise when i dress i do it with a man's eyes, rather than a woman's. i am trying to turn myself into that perfect sexy glamour girl that haunts my dreams. i'll never get her perfect (i would need a nice pert cleavage for that!) but still i strive to get that look over and over. maybe if i had more time for dressing i might experiment with other styles but i prefer to use what little time i have going straight in for the killer look.
by way of illustration i added some more pics to my photo thread..

In the 80's it was Jennifer O'Neil but somehow I ended up more like Jane Paulie,
