Glad to hear your progress. I wish I had started on M2F HRT years ago - I started when I was 59 years of age. Unlike you I have the Battle of the Bulge - I need to lose about 40 lbs of weight.

doing well, I never knew you could get that shaved, does your voice change with that or with hrt etc?

The trachea shave will affect your voice, although results are not guaranteed and it is often useful to have voice coaching as well. HRT will not change your voice appreciably if you are MtF

I can vouch M2F HRT does not change the voice in itself. I try to speak in a soft breathy voice, but when it comes to singing I sing in the deep bass range (e.g., down to C below the bass staff and sometimes even deeper).
If someone ma'ams me I need to respond with a feminine voice - breathy and resonance in the head so as not to embarrass that person. That also would apply if I am en femme.

HRT do not do a thing with your voice only voice coaching will help get it to female range like i have had to get mine to female level. Have heard getting adams apples do help with some so will see when get mine done.

Hope you don't call him Doctor Thomas, pretty sure he's Mr Thomas (these consultants get a bit funny about such things!!) :heehee: :D

I as an American don't understand that posting. Please explain to me why a surgeon would not go with the title of Doctor.
Thanks.

Johanna,
In Britain surgeons were historically considered to be tradesmen, often apprenticed to barbers, and thus had no formal, academic background, hence the title of Mr or Miss. Physicians, on the other hand went to universities and became doctors of medicine.
This distinction has its routes in the Middle Ages and there are moves to change it to the convention of addressing medical people found in Europe and America. There's a funny kind of inverted snobbery however, and British surgeons aren't necessarily willing to lose the old fashioned recognition of being apart from those common doctor types!

Sounds like great news Zoe. I'm also very interested in the results of the trachea shave and hope you update on that as well. Definitely something I'd like to address as my adams apple is very pronounced. Best of luck to you in your upcoming surgery.

Got appointment to see Thomas at Brighton in April. I see nurse that be looking after me during my 8 day stay then be giving a tour of the hospital and then meet Thomas himself that be doing the grs/srs operation. I be getting my own room with flat screen tv and depending on room maybe with sea view. Then my next visit to see him be for the operation itself as this visit is just to meet staff and look around and paperwork. Really excited but little scared as well but know going be great after recovery to have right pluming down stairs.
