I recently got a bra that has slots for breastforms and I think it's really helped make my figure more feminine, so I'm pleased with it and it is reasonably comfortable so that is good. Wearing a cami or light tank top over it and under my other clothes helps to hide my undergarments or the very perky nipples of my forms.

... Is like getting a hug, all the time!

:D

Love it.

I like them because it's a singularly feminine item. There's no male equivalent. Am I being too logical? I'm an engineer. I can't help it.

Bras are my absolute favorite, I go to Sears in town and I have a shopping hay day when it comes to bras. Working on getting some breast forms shortly ( ANY SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED and I would prefer not to break the bank).

Cara, the cami hides everything? I have trouble with just my cozy bra.
Castle, search the sight, I posted the name of a great shop online, in Jersey and Vegas.
Less than 100.00 and free ship. Also lots of CD shopping sites have vids on sizing, care etc.
Be warned, you will not want to take them off, very addictive. And sooooo much fun.

If I wasn't a crossdresser, I wouldn't wear a bra. But since I AM a crossdresser, I might just as well!

I don't wear one to bed, but love the feel and look of a well fitting bra.

I can easily fill a 42C without help, but I have some size 9 forms that require at least a 44D.

I prefer the feeling of a bra without forms.

New member here. I have been a pantie wearer for a long time and am supported by my SO.

I recently started wearing bras and got two (Hanes Comfortflex fit and Vanity Fair 19060 style). My wife is not too glad about my wearing a bra so I wear it when she is not at home. I love the hug feeling but cant wear it to bed. Also, no breast forms for me please.

Would love suggestions for a 40 (or 42) A size bras please.

Love to all on this CD group.

Although a bra is generally considered a female item, it can be useful for a male to keep non-adjustable straps on a slip from falling off the shoulders

HI All: Athena23 asked, "how to wear a bra without it showing" that is a good question indeed and perhaps only answerable by each CD for herself .
If your size is such that you have a great projection well its not likely to be missed by many people no matter what you try to do to make it less obvious.
For me I wear a camisole or slip under my outer shirt for the same reasons women used to wear them , modesty.
The slip is my fav to wear as it swishes around my legs as I move ( drape it into both pantlegs), and it allows my shirt to slide over my brassiere so that it doesn't
print thru so much and it breaks up the defining outline of bra band and straps .

Tammie, I like my short (18") Vanity Fair Spin Slip because it is easier to tuck into womens pull-on pants than a mens A shirt, but the narrow, non-adjustable straps fall of my shoulders. I found that wearing a bra with adjustable straps helps, and I have gone "out" so attired wearing a plain white tee without discerning any reaction. The slip probably "hides" the bra, per your suggestion.

The bottom line appears to be that the bra and slip are a "team." The bra makes it less likely for narrow and non-adjustable straps to slip off shoulders, and the slip "hides" the bra.

I'd bet the majority would not be as happy to wear a bra if you had to wear one everyday. I do, and while I like a nice, tight hug ... er, bra, I have to use a long-line front close because of my E cups.

Candice,
You are the great leveler here.
The only one with a contra view on bras.
I read some of your replies and was surprised that only some acknowledged you or disagreed with you.
I felt you needed acknowledgement as you have given most of the practical reasons for not wearing a bra.
Power to you and I always watch your progress with interest.
Me, I like wearing a bra, if it is uncomfortable I can take it off, same applies with my hair, if it is too hot, an instant shorter hairstyle. :)

This thread just goes on and on doesn't it?
Verry interesting.... but not stupid at all.

I've ben wearing bras for over 40 years purged and bought purged and bought. I always used if you can believe it water balloons to make the size right. I have a 42" bra size now and oredered a pair of forms. I thought 42c would be a great fit til I got them. Dn't get me wrong they are great. But if I were to go out people would be starign at me as my breasts come through the door before I do. I thought I had all the measurements correct and while I am dissapointed in the size I am thrilled with the effect and jiggle. I really would like some advice on this as I don't want to look like a Dolly Parton clone. I just want to be natural. I already fill a 34 C and I think the drugs Doc gave me along with th flomax are making them grow nicely. It's getting to the point of not being able to hide whats naturally occuring. So any advise you cold give e ladies would be greatly appreciated!! Oh and by the way I just love a good fittng bra! The lace and softness next to my skin. But again like what was stated before in this thread. I work from home and I work en femme but when quuitting time has come I can't wait to get out of the is contraption and float free and easy as they slide against my shirt!!

HI Luvs: I started wearing a brassiere (love that word) about 50yrs ago . I had a very pretty older woman (35yo) tell me (age 14) I needed to wear a bra since as she said "your breasts are bigger than mine" .

She was a small woman so maybe they were , I was humiliated and blushed . Soon afterwards I did pick up my older teen sisters bra off the floor and try it on , and oh my it fit like I was measured for it

It changed my life , and I was a crossdresser forever after. That bra was a black lacecup underwire size 36B , a Vassarette and I will never forget it . Also I have determined that if we stuffed our

mothers bra when we started , we wear forms now , if we filled our first bra up we just like wearing a bra that fits us in our dotage.

Now fast forward 50 yrs I still get the same electric charge when I slip my arms thru the straps and adjust my breasts into those underwired cups , the difference is I wear a 42C and being bigger I like

full coverage and full support bras now . My favs are Wacoal , Glamorize , and always wear a matching LLPG (at least matching color) and my favs there are Miraclesuit , Rago and Va Bien .

All make nude and black (all black is the same) and in several weights , I prefer the extra firm styles

Then I wear a slip over them to make the bra and my breasts not quite so noticeable , and often stockings too . It is not quite perfect without my heels ,and sometimes I wear long women's jeans to

cover my heels , I just have to try to not make the tell tale heels clicking on the pavement, it causes people to look and stare even tho I am not wearing makeup most days .

When they do look , just hold your head up and smile , and keep going . I had a man tell me once (you have breasts like a woman).

as men age we become more feminine and less manly, so why not embrace it and wear the clothes that make us happy for me that is a brassiere panties girdles stockings slips and heels .

I wish I had the courage to wear a skirt and blouse every day , but I usually wimp out and wear a shirt and pants over my lingerie.

I can't believe its taken me this long to post a reply on wearing a bra ,after years of buying trying and throwing away countless perfectly good bras ,I am now a happy bunny with a range of bras that really fit me well and I can wear all day without discomfort , plus they do a huge range of matching knickers !
who are these gods of lingerie I hear you ask ? . triumph a fabulous range ,but a bit pricey well worth it in my opinion .Katie x.

A bra is a mysterious piece of clothing and the power it yields is almost intoxicating. In guy mode, seeing a lady in her bra and panties is very erotic, especially if they match. It's kind of like everyday lingerie and what men see most often. The reality is that a bra is just a harness. It's not really designed to be pretty although lace and color can jazz it up.

While I wore bras before I had breast forms, I think the defining moment when I really decided that I was into cross dressing 100% was when I had my first 38c bra and breast forms. I just loved closing it tight around my chest and and adjusting the straps. Wearing a blouse and having it look like I had breasts was awesome.

I now have over 50 bras. Lace bras, plain everyday bras, a strapless bra, 2 racer back bras, front close and the traditional rear close. And it's all good. Wearing even just a plain everyday bra all day long and feeling it stretch and mold to my body is a very feminizing experience. My bras usually have matching panties and I plan my outfits around the bra/panty combo. Sometimes they don't match. It's just random and that's feminine too. Bra straps that show and wearing a black bra with a white top is pretty, sexy and feminine all at the same time. What's great is that women don't necessarily to that to attract attention. It's just an everyday thing for them.

At the end of the day, I love taking my bra off by reaching behind my back and taking it off before I take off my shirt. Just a girly thing to do. I'm looking forward to the day when I can put one on that way. too.

A bra is so like a hug...surprised I never thought of that before, but now that my wife finds is amusing to snap my bra and then my straps are all screwed up it's like a twister-hug. Maybe I should just go strapless...

Bras are hot, they dig, the straps twist, they ride up... and there's the ever present fear that your "best friend" might just decide to unleash an underwire and stab you in the heart ("et tu, Brute?") ...all of that being said; I consider them a necessary part of the ensemble, and I DO get excited when I get a cute new one. I also have to give the disclaimer that after I dress for a long period of time, I am more than ready to take it off (I can do the Houdini-shirtsleeve trick! Lol), put on my comfy girl clothes and relax. The feeling, I would say, is on par with taking off my uniform and hot smelly boots at the end of the day in guy mode! Lol

I've been wearing a bra and forms for several weeks and a few months now that are C or D. I mentioned before that I plan on having breast implants even though I'm not fully TS. In two weeks I have another consultation with a surgeon who suggested I first live with having breasts and see how it affects my everyday life. So far I have not had a problem. I actually love the feeling of affirmation of having breasts. I've been out and about and no one seems to care or say anything. I really don't care what people think. I've worn regular drab T-shirts and sometimes a hoodie sweatshirt now that cooler weather is here. But the best is a nice top or a dress. My wife and I have gone to stores like Walmart to shop for bras for me and her and you can't help but notice I have "ample" endowment. We simply act confident wherever we go.

I have had counseling. My counselor is very cool! She has basically told me that I need to be true to myself and that my happiness is all that counts. She has sent a letter to the surgeon recommending that I can move forward. She also suggested my hapiness could be diminished at the expense of what someone might think.

Wearing a bra all the time for me is a joy. It's something that allows me to feel who i truly am. The feeling of wearing one just makes me feel good about myself. I have a few girl friends who know me and only a couple like when they can take it off at the end of the day. But all of them tell me that having breasts are an affirmation of their sexuality. They don't mind taking them off, but they also like slipping into a soft nightgown.

I found that I like the feeling of large breasts with the forms, wide straps, and a feeling of confinement. With breast implants, I am sure I will feel that they are my own, and bras will become a part of my life. I can't wait!

I would truly love to have large implants and be able to have breast all of the time. For me the feeling of large heavy breast is amazing but family and society think this is wrong, bummer, I'm not gay(I think) I'm not tg (?) But I love tits and heels!

Do Anything special to hide it?

As several of us have noted here, wearing a short slip or camisole "hides" a bra. I prefer a short slip as it also "hides" pantyhose and panty tops, and the bra helps keep narrow, non-adjusrable, straps on the slip from slipping. I have even worn them "out" under a plain white tee, without enlisiting any reaction, but, of course, a figured shirt or a jacket "hides" the bra better.

Did you know there is a bra fairy? Last winter I came out of the gym and sticking out of the snow pile by my car door was a black victoria's secret demi bra...I looked around for the hidden camera that had to be around...no, then checked to see of there was a fishing line attached..no again. I took it and washed it in my laundry 38D. Tried it on and it was a fit, a little tight, I was surprised because I bought 2 before using online measurements and they are a couple of band sizes bigger...all I can say I thanked the bra fairy whoever she is and her ample chest :P

Like so many have said...I do enjoy the hugging you get back!

I wear a large brassiere , 4 hooks per row as I am a big person and I like support full coverage bras , so I fill up a 42C bra now by pulling my tits into the cups and now have a great bust and a nice hug all day . I wear a slip to mute the shape as I show

nice round tits when I put on a shirt over my brassiere , it feels great in both pantlegs making my clothing slide and my stockings are attached to my girdle so that I am just all happy underneath my outer clothes .

As far as 'tactile feeling' goes, I would take a bustier any day over a bra. That having been said, I really enjoy the 'hug' feeling of a bra; all the more when I already prefer (and most frequently wear) strapless dresses - whose bodices already provide some degree of 'hug' to begin with. Now if only I had proper forms; for now I am making do with towels... :heehee:

I have a number of bras. Yes, the underwires can be VERY uncomfortable at times. Some of the others ... Kind of like a hug but I can see how if I HAD to wear them everyday it would get old. But, my FAVORITE bras I wear all the time are my Savoir Faire Lace Bralettes. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO comfortable. They DO feel like a hug. A hug with lace trim :battingeyelashes: and I wear them every chance I get with my forms, even to bed!

hey mikhaela i know what you mean about if you had to wear bras all the time… i love bras and i used to wear one as often as i could to feel girly. i used to also ask myself the same scary question you did about having to wear one but now that i have recently begun hrt (yay), i am trying to wear one every day. although i don’t need to yet since my girls are only an A (maybe to B) cup, i figured i better get used to them as i probably will be wearing them the rest of my life (!) as my breasts hopefully grow and become more noticeable.
i sometimes don’t even feel i am wearing one until i look down, see the bumps and then i feel all tingly knowing i am affirming the woman inside. i have mostly underwire push-ups but i am equally happy wearing a simple bra like the one i have on today. pm me if you wish.

This thread is having a long life! Okay, My first bras were bought for me by my future wife. I first tried on one of hers so we could figure my size. Then we'd go into a department store and look together. If I saw one I really liked I'd say something like, "You'd look great in that." That was her signal. Of course I'd have to model it for her. It was the same with pantie shopping. Today I shop in drab and on-line. No big deal anymore!

Although I don't fill my Bra's with breastforms or anything I still wear one. Although for me it's not about what I wear like a lot of you here I feel more feminine with one. And if my partner has to wear one every day then so shall I :P
The best thing I ever did though was spend some time to find the proper size and whatnot. I know so many CD Girls who wear one that's too tight or far too loose but it really does help to find the right one.

I find that I need to wear a bra when I dress up. It gives me the full feminine feel:) plus I wear the right fit for my body size:) so it works and makes me look more natural:) I usually wear them with pads built in, since I dont buy any forms or anything. But I absolutely love bras! They are comfortable and make me feel wonderful:)

I always wear a bra or sometimes a body briefer when I dress. I try to find a pushup that adds 2 cup sizes as I have decent size man boobies! When I wear that I can create some nice cleavage and fill the cup nicely. The bra usually cost more but a nice effect. I have had forms but really prefer not to use them and go natural!

For me, I don't have my bra on during the day but it feels so nice to have my breasts supported when I can put them on when I get home. I didn't realize how much I was slouching until I started CD and measured a 40C from my "man boobs" that I was slouching the whole time to hide. They are noticeable even without if I am sitting with good posture and it is a source of body image issues for me when I am dressed as a male. When I put the bra on I like how they fill out my shirts, they are supported and it feels nice.

Love wearing bra's, have several that are for wearing when in drab, so that no one can tell, and then the one's I wear with my forms, which are quite large. I have had a couple of occasions in the past week to be in the bra and forms for 10 hours a day. Have to say that even though I love them, I can understand why the wife can't wait to take hers off after a long day...

I see no reason to cross dress without wearing a bra. It is truly all fantasy and what piece of clothing says "female" more than a bra? The invention of the forms has made a huge difference in the sensations. Of course it is not the same as being a woman but it is so different from being a man that the sensations alone make the experience unique and satisfying.

Wearing a bra (like I am right now) I finally see why girls don't like wearing them, the under wire really digs in, however I have yet to get any breast forms and I have been told that they make all the difference! But they're so 'spensive!!!

If the underwire is digging in, you are wearing the wrong size bra. The underwire should lay flat against the underside of the breast and not dig in at either end of the wire (armpit/sternum) or at the center. If I remember correctly, when the cup size is too big, the wires will dig in at either the armpit or (less often) the sternum. If the band size is too small, it stretches the wire ends outward, and the underside of the curve will dig in beneath the breast tissue. When the center gore between the cups is too narrow, that is usually what causes the wires to dig in at the sternum.

To get your proper band size, don't use the GG measuring method of measuring under the bust and adding four or five inches. Pass the tape measure under the armpits and over the breast. Keep it as close to parallel to the floor as possible, and make it snug. Round up to the nearest even number. So if you measure 41, for example, round up to 42. IN the trade, that is referred to as the "overbust" measurement, but that is your band size. For cup sizing, measure as normal, across the fullest part of the breast, while wearing your best-fitting bra. The difference between this measurement and the band size will determine the cup, allowing one inch for each letter, starting at A. Here, again, round up to the nearest whole inch.

For years, following the GG method of measuring, I was wearing 38 B bras, and never could find one that didn't either dig in at the armpits, or chafe under my breasts. Even wireless bras tended to chafe my under bust. Measuring by the new method, I wear a 40A, and every one I bought fit wonderfully, except for Bali brand; they seem to be made with larger cups.

Alternatively, learn to make your own. (Which is what I have been doing for the past year or so.) After you've made a few, you can tell how to alte the cups and bands of ready-to-wear to fit your body perfectly.

WHen the bra fits right, it is far more comfortable, and often, you will find tyourself forgetting that you even have one on. (That can be dangerous, if you truly forget, and remove your suit jacket while at work.)

Nothing makes me feel as in touch with my feminine side as wearing a well fitted bra with my forms. It truly is like a big hug as others have said. I personally have found that post mastectomy bras are my favorite because they insure that all seams are covered up and the forms will stay where they are supposed to be throughout the day. Amoena makes some really nice styles. I wear their Nina bra with 40C forms nearly every day and have no discomfort at all. Anyone else use post mastectomy bras?

I instinctively knew it was wrong to wear my sisters bra when I first put it on my chest, and also that I was a crossdresser forever (at age 14) since I almost feinted from the sensation (lace cups fit me perfectly).

When caught by my mother, she saw how that brassiere fit me when she made me strip in front of her and took my sisters lingerie .

She made me promise not to wear my sisters things so..............................

About two weeks later I got into my mothers lingerie drawer and found her bras were bigger , I discovered garterbelts ,stockings , and slips, and her that her pantiegirdles were the same size, so............

That is what I had on modeling in front of the mirror the next time I was caught ,so.............................

And how and why my mother got me my own first bra and pantygirdle and slip, yep my mother shopped for me to keep me out of hers and out of trouble .

And today I am wearing a 42C , I love it as much as 50 yrs ago , thanks mom

I love wearing a bra with my forms. Feels natural to me. I have a number of very comfortable ones that I like to wear, all mine are underwire so they can hold the forms better. I used to hate wearing a bra because I could never get one that was comfortable enough to wear for any extended period of time. Well, after many years of experimenting, I finally did figure it out and I just love putting one on and can wear it, without issue, for as long as I wish. I wouldn't even begin to know how many bras I have bought and discarded before I got the right "combination"! I don't feel bad about this though because I have spoken to many women who also think that bra fitting is one of life's greatest mysteries!

... Is like getting a hug, all the time!

:D

Funny to find this thread at the top of the forum. I was coming back after a long hiatus to post the same thing!

My bra is my thundershirt.

They make compression shirts, called "thundershirts," to calm high strung dogs. I came to the realization a few months ago that the feeling of a bra around my torso, besides being a continuous hug, also soothes me, especially if I haven't dressed up in several days due to work. These last few years have been so stressful, as I assume it has been for most people. The compression of a bra plus the weight of my forms just does something that makes me feel better. More so than any other article of female clothing. I like sleeping with a bra and my forms and waking to feel them on me. It often saddens me to have to take them off and I wish I could wear them all of the time.

tammie

Hi Luvs: Joanie you are very insightful , I have seen the great relief some dogs get with the product called the thundershirt . And I once had experience with newborns , and often crying babies are wrapped in a warm blanket to keep them from thrashing their arms about. Their not quite totally developed nervous systems are toned down by that , and they rest easy with the reassurance of the confinement of their mothers womb. Since most CDs start with something of mothers at an early age , it follows that we are calmed down by a connection to our mothers . And bonus if per chance the first thing we experience is mothers bra that does the same thing as a thundershirt , it is so strong a dopamine response in our brains we are addicted profoundly. Not really much different as the first episodic response from a first heroin or methamphetamine dose . The addict is chasing the feeling again and it is never to be so intense again . The addict will increase the dosage to experience the same dopamine response so we as CDs go farther and add more womanly things . Maybe that explains why we continually do it it ,even when some of us "at first" felt so much guilt about it every time we did it . I have purged so many times in my life . Now I am retired divorced and have a dog for company and lots of bras panties slips girdles stockings heels and makeup , not to mention a cute knit dress and a Chanel pleated black wool skirt with and a ivory heavy silk blouse .

Oh my. The "bra" talk. I have so many, most are comfortable but a few just look amazing, so I tolerate their misgivings. I have wire free, under wire, pull over sports bras, molded cup and soft cup. I have sizes that fit my bare male chest and ones that hold my breast forms tight in place. There are subtle colors and bright colors with lace and satin. I have a few that match panties but (as a GG will tell you) that is not necessary. I seriously love the winter for the extra layers. I wear a bra under my sweat shirts and sweaters out in drab & no one is the wiser. Needless to say, I do love to wear bras. I recently lost a bit of weight for health reasons. Before I lost the weight I filled a 40B and loved the feeling of filling it out. Now, the cup and strap is loose. A 38A or B just doesn't fit right. :-(

Can gynecomastia be induced? I would like to be a natural A-B without taking hormones.

There are plenty of sites on line that discuss this, recommending phytoestrogens, such as saw palmetto, black cohosh, red clover, fennel and fenugreek, to induce gynecomastia.

A couple of things to be aware of though are, first, unless there is a serious hormonal change, you will never have breasts as large as a genetic female; and, phytoestrogens taken in the wrong quantities or proportions can raise testosterone (because your body converts what it thinks is excess estrogen into testosterone), which can lead to prostate enlargement; and, some phytoestrogens can exacerbate thoracic problems, such as high blood pressure. The third concern is not as likely as the first two; it occurs more often when taking actual hormones or entering into hormone replacement therapy.

Vickie1952, So what are you doing to grow your "real" breasts from an A cup to a B cup? A B cup bra is OK for underdressing with a slip. An A cup would be more appropriate, but a C is too big and is often the smallest cup size available for bra bandwidths over 40 and in plus size shapeware.

Thank you Dorothy Elizabeth for the excellent tip. I've always measured the GG way and thought that the strap may have been a tad tight. I just measured your way and found that I'm one size bigger. I'm also taking herbal supplements as well as massaging for 5 mins after using my NB. I have about 15 bra's, all 38c, in several different colours and styles. some cups are bigger than others, some of the bra's feel more comfortable than others and I do have my favourites. I have a cheap £8 bra from matalan and it is soooooo comfortable with or without my forms in and I have a £30 bra that gets uncomfortable after about 3 hours of wearing. I love having a bra on it just feels so nice against my skin. I even go to bed with a bra on, sometimes with my forms in and wearing a short night dress. My GG partner has bought me most of my bra's, she loves seeing me in my frillies and loves to snuggle up to me in bed when I'm all dressed up. I don't know what i would do if I couldn't wear a bra. It just feels so good.

Are you really interested/obsessed with bras or is it boobs and or its relation to women?

The armour piercing question has arrived. (Cue creepy organ music)

I'll admit that the bra is practically the only exclusively gendered article of clothing and thus connotes femininity as much as boobs do. Due to my affinity for strapless dresses I inevitably have to rely on one to even look presentable. Breast forms are probably a different story.

HI Yes : men can abrogate panties (as more comfortable) girdles (some say even more comfortable) stockings (because we have legs) heels (we have feet, even if sometimes huge looking) ; but the brassiere is for breasts , it seems some of us do over time

grow beasts inour dotage, I now fill a 42C and have a very attractive bust in a bra . I have suspected for a long time we enjoy wearing what we first discovered . That is to say if the first time we put on a bra and stuffed the cups , then now we enjoy

forms . The first time I put on a bra I filled the cups with my little boy tits (a MILF had told me my tits were bigger than hers and I should wear a bra). So even for me the item of clothing that screams CD sissy and Queen is a bra . I prefer the lace underwire

full coverage support bras and look best in that style .

Love the sentiment of the OP.

(I read this thread a few times when it started more than a year ago, but then intentionally ignored it for months, being put off by its length. Tonight, seeing that it was still going strong, I decided to read through the entire 350+ posts and add my comments.)

After 35 years of CDing, I pinpointed a few years back that I had a fetish for bras, which is where it all began for me. Many things fell into place and finally made sense at that point.

While sitting at my computer, I’ll sometimes take off my dress or blouse just to admire the straps and cups of my bra in the mirror nearby.

Occasionally, I will do a little dance, waving my arms slightly, so I can relish the tug and pull of my bra.

A few months ago, I tried, and found I liked, wearing two or three bras at a time, which made me think of this thread (and then I saw post #52 tonight).

In post #303, Tammie asked if anyone had ever shopped for a bra for us. My story: In 2010, after not dressing for about 5 years, I was getting back into it. My SO at the time was OK with that and, to be helpful, went with me to Kohl’s so we could shop for a bra, supposedly for her. When I found a pretty, light blue one with the proper band size, I showed it to her and said it was what I wanted. She said, “Well, we have to make sure it’s the right cup size.” I just stared at her, then said, “That’s not really a concern.” It took her a few seconds to realize what I meant. (Since then, my favorite bra – probably half of the 20 or so bras I own – is the Victoria’s Secret Very Sexy 38D.)

As noted here, a bra is generally considered a female item, but I noted that almost all the bras online are called Women’s Bras. Do male bras exist? However, the department of origin shouldn’t matter, and a bra can be useful in underdressing for a male to help keep non-adjustable straps on a women’s slip from falling off the shoulders. Also, wearing a slip makes the bra less noticable!

I like wearing a bra, but I never thought of being “hugged” until I read this thread. However, bras available in Womens departments usually have small bandwidths for small cup sizes and the smallest cup size for those with large bandwidths is usually way too big. Although bras with large bandwidths and small cup sizes may be available on-line, they are much more expensive than mass-market sizes.

Hi Luvs: I have found like SFWARBONNET that many makers of lingerie don't make large sizes as they don't sell enough to make it profitable . Playtex and many others now only go up to 40c and thense to 40D DD E .

I wear a size 42c and just love filling my brassiere cups now , but many makers stop at 40 so .... What does a bigger gurl do , go to La Isla Lingerie and they have knockoffs of every brands popular bras for cheap , and they have a real 42C size too.

Still to this day I adore lace underwire full coverage bras , I filled up my sisters (36B) and in 45 yrs have never used forms , its true get a fitting you wont regret it.

Anything that is made with bust darts is going to look a bit strange with nothing to fill them out...

Yes, any garment with bust darts and lace trim would clearly be feminine attire. Even “plain” ones can be troublesome for underdressing. A short slip is earier to straighten and tuck-in into womens pull-on pants, but slips often have narrow, non-adjustable, straps which fall off a man’s shoulders when there are very small or no boobs. A “solution” to minimize this is to wear a bra with adjustable straps, and the slip “hides” bra straps.

For those that think a sports bra doesn't show, it does and then there's this after 30 minutes on a treadmill

Any bra will show under a wet shirt. There are "tricks" to hide the tell-tale signs of a bra even under e.g. a "dry" plain white shirt or blouse, like wearing a slip which also hides panty and pantyhose tops

Just another bra-lover here! Love reaching behind to hook it up; seeing that first reflection in the mirror; rubbing my hands over the lovely lace cups as I adjust it; putting on a top and seeing my lovely shape - and that's without the wonderful 'huggy' feeling of wearing it throughout the day. Bliss.

I'm wearing one now, as it helps keep the narrow, non-adjustable, straps on my short slip from coming off my shoulders. Besides, it is a constant reminder that I'm underdressing as its constant "hug" leaves no doubt I'm wearing at bra, although it, hopefully, is not apparent to anyone else.

Yes a bra is a must for a crossdresser. It puts your mind in constant reminder that you are a woman.

So a bra makes you a woman? $%#@ Why have I been wasting my time and money transitioning when I've apparently been a woman since I started wearing a bra. I have bigger boobs then my SO, she only wears a bra out of social construct, does that make her less of a woman?

I've wore a bra daily since I was 11, and have found that there is no way to 100% hide a regular bra under everyday clothes. The best thing I found was sports bras, they just leave the outline of the seams and flattened and supported my chest.

The majority opinion here seems to be don’t wear a bra in “boy mode”, unless you need to wear one or want to get ‘caught’ – it’s just too risky and should be restricted to female impersonation. But then there are those who have worn a bra routinely in “boy mode” without evoking any negative response. I count myself among the latter.

What size bra is correct for underdressing? Most threads here say calculate the bandwidth and pick the cup size to fit your forms, but what is appropriate without forms?

I finally got my own bra, but there seems to be an increase in the size of the cups as bandwidth increases. Conventional sizing says that for an A cup the over-the-bust measurement should be only 1” larger than the bandwidth, and for a B cup the difference would be 2”. I got a 42A but the cups are bigger than in my wife’s 38B!

I'm a b cup. In a T-shirt you can make them out if you look hard. But in a nice pushup bra, wow viva la difference. I probably look C size. So, yes a bra is your friend.

Yes a bra is a must for a crossdresser. It puts your mind in constant reminder that you are a woman.

Or rather, it gives you a constant reminder that you are wearing an item of clothing that women wear. And therefore makes you feel more in touch with your feminine side.

Clothes do not make anyone a woman.

Finding women’s clothes that fit a GM is a challenge, as a bust and an hourglass figure are often presumed in women’s clothes. Particular examples are all-in-ones and garter belts. In the former, if one gets a large bandwidth, the cups are usually too large for underdressing, and garter belts, which are supposed to keep stockings from falling down, often fall down themselves as GM’s usually do not have a large difference between waist and hip measurements. For me, a short 38 slip with no bust darts makes an OK undershirt, although most of my shirts are 42-44 and narrow, non-adjustable straps on a slip fall off my shoulders (probably due to lack of boobs) unless I wear a bra with adjustable straps. To get an appropriate bra size, use the largest chest measurement as the bandwidth, and get an AA cup.

I wear a bra most days. It just feels natural. I wear a 38B even under my uniform shirts but I wear a tee shirt over it under my shirt. All of my bras are underwire and as far as I know no one has noticed them and im a mechanic. Now I do have some that are padded and I have just found some on amazon that have 4 and 5 rows of hooks that are really wide on the side to hold the dreaded under arm fat in check... lol . as for home I will wear them with just a shirt on. I have some bras that are quite uncomfortable after an hour or so. I have others that I can wear for longer. Most of them though, I can wear all day and almost forget I'm wearing them because they are a better fit. So if you're one of those people who can't wait to get their bra off because of discomfort, then you should probably try a better fitting one.

I Love wearing bras. I have many, a bunch for my B-cup forms and a bunch for my DD's, although i hardly wear the B's any more. I wear my forms, a pretty bra, and matching panties to bed almost every night. It's at the point now where if I dont, my girlfriend asks me to put them on!, She likes holding my boobs at night.

I just love waking up with a pretty bra on, seeing and feeling it when i first wake up reminds me of my true self and makes me feel so comfortable. I'll use any excuse to wear one, i find them extremely comfortable.

I have a razor back tank that fits me skin tight, I use this to hold fake breasts. Total accident getting a hold of it, but you couldn't get a more perfect fit.

A bra can be a functional under garment for a GM CD, particularly for underdressing. Specifically, adjustable straps are helpful to keep non-adjustable straps on, say a slip or camisole from falling off shoulders (probably due to the absence of natural boobs). The slip also hides often noticeable bra signatures, such as adjusters and back clasps. The hard part is finding a bra with a 40+ bandwidth and with AA cups so the cups don’t have too much “excess” material.

I do wear a bra sometimes - when I want to feel my breast forms against my chest - such a lovely feeling to simulate having breasts. I just so so wish I had breasts and constantly think about this and whether I should start a course of hormones. Problem is my wife would pick up on this as would my kids - just can't do this at this stage of my life unfortunately :-( So, bra and breast forms will just have to do for now.

For Me I prefer to wear a bra, even in drab mode except at work. I think I'm to used to wearing a bra I feel naked with out one. I don't have or need forms I'm content being a natural 34Abu would not mind being a B or C. lately I've being noticing that there are a lot of women that are small in the boob department and men with gyno that I can get away with wearing a bra under a heavy tee shirt with out being noticed.

I have never been out fully dressed. Until today, the occasional thong and for a couple of years, I wore only women's jeans, but I can no longer do that due to the size of my Smartphone. Why do they make the pockets so tiny?

So...I was up early to walk my new dogger on the bike path behind my house, and I decided to wear my bright pink 36D padded bra under a tight t-shirt, so I was pretty obvious (I am a natural B-cup, so I've probably already gotten looks, as I always wear tight t-shirts) Damn, if it wasn't packed with bikers and walkers. Initially I stayed off the trail, but on the way home decided to stay on when an old couple wanted to pet my dog. I was also wearing some perfume, which I always do on weekends. Nobody said anything, but I did get a few double-takes. In an admittedly minor way, I feel I was sort of "out" today for the first time. It would be glorious to have the guts to take it further. Ah...someday...first thing I'd have to do is shave my beard. lol. I actually think I'd look halfway decent without too much work, and I'm 61. I think in my 20's I would have been a hottie.

I don't think I brought the right size or type for me as the straps always seem to slip further across and off my shoulders the more I move in it. Sounds like you mights have discovered push up bras. They usually have a graduated padding that is thicker at the bottom in order to force real breast tissue upwards. T-shirt bras are also padded but the idea is to smooth out the resulting shape as T-shirts and other thin tops will show every curve whether wanted or not. Their padding is usually the same thickness top to bottom. And finally, there are bras that are padded in order provide more volume. To avoid all of the above, what you want is a design that says Soft Cup.

I was not familiar with the acronym DADT, so I Googled it. According to Wikipedia DADT = Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell. Right?

Yes. It came from the former military policy regarding gays in the military. Don't know if it had some usage before that...

For underdressing, one needs an unpadded AA cup bra so it doesn't have cups that exceed your (lack of) natural breasts so the bra isn't obvious. AA bras with a bandwidth over 40 are hard to find though. (I got mine at amazon.com.) Also, a short slip helps keep narrow. non-adjustable straps on a short slip from falling off your shoulders, and the slip hides the bra adjustors and back closure, and an 18" slip is easy to tuck into pants.

Bobbi,
Re "fit": See my post of 8/22/2015 in this thread. Conventional bra sizing, wherein the cup size is determined by the difference between the over and under bust measurement isn't satisfactory; just use your largest chest measurement for the bandwidth, and get an unpadded AA cup for underdressing.

Thanks sfwarbonnet I will do that I am pretty close to getting there I did have AA size which I used booster pads but now I need the next stage because I intend to wear a bra with forms all time. The AA bra was so comfortable on it encouraged to go further with my need to feel more feminine.

Bobbi,
If you're wearing forms a larger cup size may be appropriate, and easier to find and cheaper too. Just don't wear it without forms as the cups would probably be too "generous" for "stealth" underdressing.

Bobbi46

I have firmly established that I need a 42 D and D size forms are on the way, I bought some forms unfortunately a size too small but also I had a bra which was also wrong in the same way, I do not intend to worry about stealth wearing as I have already been out with the above and all was well in several places. I will post again when the forms arrive as I have already bought the bra to go with them.

I have to agree with Kirsten on this. If you like you wear a bra during the day under a normal shirt, this type of bra is the least detectable...not saying that it is undetectable.....just easier to disguise with a thicker shirt or sweater or some other layer. Plus if you wear forms, they fit better in unpadded bras.

I love bras too, I have a lot of them, different colors, different kinds. Fancy ones, not so fancy ones, sports bras, front closing bras, back closing bras, love em too.
Hugs,
Bree :)

Bras have always been the foundation of my clothing (pardon the pun). I don't wear forms nor have a desire to pass. I don't try to create the illusion of breasts, my bras are not padded and I try very hard to find ones that fit. This is not trivial.

Something has happened over many years of wearing them. I don't wear one full time, rather 2-3 days/week or longer when I am not working. I've found that I enjoy the support and I actually miss not having having the support when I'm not wearing one. I am not comfortable running or biking unless I have a bra on.

There has been another effect too- when I started wearing them it was because I found them to be feminine. They still clearly are, and I enjoy that feeling. However I look at them as functional, and in that light, they can be annoying sometimes! I'm generally comfortable up to 8 hours, however longer than that, I'm usually ready to take it off. I never forget that I'm wearing one, it's just a feeling that I have become used to.

An everyday bra is something I don't have just yet. I do have one that matches my mermaid tail for when I want to pose as a mermaid and it felt really comfortable so I need to get an everyday one at some point.

I wear a bra every chance I get and quite often. I am to the point that when I am not wearing one I feel like something is wrong.

Exactly. I wear crop tops in boy mode, and it seems that the breasts get quite sensitive when they're not covered and supported by something (bra, crop top, stretchy camisole). The crop top looks like a bare-midriff wife-beater (unfortunate but common term) undershirt under clothing, and I've only had a few comments over many years and many hugs with many people. I do see a chiropractor shirtless, and it's always a little weird for me, but then, I survived six years in middle- and high-school PE locker rooms...

... Is like getting a hug, all the time!

:D

So true! It's even better with a longline bra since they cover more area and they're really good for posture and back/shoulder support. Front closure is the most easy to handle and comfortable for me!:lovestruck:

I just love bras. I know more about bras and their proper fitting than my wife. I have a much better lingerie collection than she does!

There seems to be different preferences about using breast forms. I like having breasts and find that dressing with breast forms is much more satisfying than wearing a flat sports bra. It makes shopping for lingerie much easier. It would be almost impossible to find a 42 A or B. But I have many beautiful lacy options with a 42D.

Love wearing a bra. I wear one when riding my push bike under my lycra. and on days off I wear one under my clothes when out at the shops.
In Australia the size for me is 14B as the breastforms fit perfectly.

Ok I wear a 38B bra all the time .I don't wear forms or any stuffing at all so I guess they don't show much.No one has ever commented on them.. And if they was to I would just tell them I need to for medical reasons ..and I have told the neighbors just that so they wouldn't think anything about it..

I've found Gap Fit Medium impact T-back sports bra to be quite good. The T-back makes the straps invisible through shirts and soft padding makes it easy to wear all day. I have been wearing almost daily at work, they work even under dress shirts (as long they aren't skin hugging tight).

Nothing feels better to me than wearing a matching bra and panties. Something about knowing they match just feels sexy. I've been "blessed" with natural C cups, so it's almost a necessity to wear a good fitting bra daily. I just placed an order for a new sports bra and I can't wait to try it out at the gym!! I love the way it grabs attention when someone catches a peek through my sleeve or when I begin to sweat ;)

Wait until you have a front close bra break at the clasp.

Having to wear a bra everyday is annoying, your never truly comfortable.
:iagree:

Thing I hate most is pull over bras getting tangled up in my hair either pulling them on or off, usually some part of it grabs the scrunchie and away we go. That's not to say I don't wear pull overs!

MsM:

There are mesh hoods that you can get to protect your makeup when putting on or taking off clothes. It zips in the front so that it closes up under you chin to keep it on. It would also work to keep you hair in place and keep things from digging into it, etc. I don't have time to find an image at the moment, but I could tonight if you don't know what it looks like.

In this fascinating and very long thread, I see a lot of discussion about larger band sizes coming with larger cups despite being labeled as A or B or so forth. It's true. A 38B fits me perfectly, except that the band is too tight. Since it's elastic, I can close it, but there's that underarm bulge (and I'm slender). I've tried 40B bras, but the cups don't fit the same.

The solution is simple: band extenders. Find these at a JoAnn or similar sewing-and-crafts store in an assortment of colors and hook arrays (single, double, etc.) for a pittance. They have a row of hooks on one end and several rows of eyes. Just put the hooks of your bra into any set of eyes and hook the extender's hooks to your bra's eyes. Too tight? Go to the next row of eyes. They don't always have the exact vertical spacing between hooks and eyes as your bra does, but they're close enough.

The cool thing is that bras naturally stretch with wear. Over time, you'll probably go to the next-tighter set of eyes. If you're really in luck, you can eventually ditch the extender without the bulge. Those we call broken-in, like your most favorite, totally comfortable pair of shoes. I've sewn extenders in to make them more permanent, but the temporary attachment works just fine.

As one with actual B-cup boobs (not pointy pectorals) from past medical treatment, I insist that my bras feel comfortable and look natural. This does it for me. I'm currently breaking in a new Bali (first time with that brand) "Passion for Comfort" 38B that has just perfect cups. I moved the extender to the next row of eyes yesterday. Oh, my, almost the Cadillac bumper-guard look. :battingeyelashes:

I can't wait until I am able to start wearing one every day and without the fear of getting caught at home. For someone who is 5'7", what's more natural looking, B or C cups? I'm still debating which size forms to get (message privately if you'd like).

The Sister Size for a 38B would be a 40A to maintain essentially the same cup volume.

You're probably right about the 40A. Ever tried to find one?

Ever tried to find one?

No, not until a few minutes ago as I wear a 38DD. HerRoom, BareNecessities and BiggerBras all have Search by Size functions. For 40A I found:

HerRoom: (36), $22 to $100
BareNecessities: (19), $15 to $148
BiggerBras: (15), ~$11 to $79

I'm sure there are others, but I stopped at 3 that I've done business with in the past...
