View Full Version : If you were a doll, what kind of doll would you be?

I do not have any children of my own. However I do have a niece who is now 16 years old. 11 years ago, I had to shop for her birthday party. I had no clue as to what I was getting myself into but asked her mother what type of interests she has. She responded she likes the "brats". Well I took off on an adventure to buy a gift. Went to the toy store and discovered what "brats" were all about. Needless to say, I could not buy my niece something like that. I settled on some clothes for her instead which was more appropriate in my opinion.

Now for the topic of the post: If you were a doll, what kind of doll would you be?

Brats
Strawberry Shortcake
Disney Princess
Monster High Doll (similar to brats)
Fashion Barbie

I am definitely a Brats kind of girl. Even Monster High Dolls are provocative too. No I do not play with dolls, but if I were to be one, I would fall into the Brats category. :battingeyelashes:

Although I'm not a fan of the "message" they send to pre-teen girls (it's okay to look "****ty"), I love the Bratz' looks, especially the skyscraper heels they "wear." That's who I'd emulate...

My looks may be waning, but I hope I never look like a cabbage patch doll. :)

Needless to say my only daughter is now almost 21 so Im kinda out of tune with dolls. But in her day it was cabbage patch kids and barbies. If I had to choose it would be Barbie, Cabbage patch kids are cute in their own way but way too frumpy.

Come to think of it, when I was much younger, I remember being obsessed with my sister's Malibu P.J. doll. I think she was supposed to be Barbie's cousin or something...

Oh, and Skipper, who was marketed as Barbie's little sister. There was a version of her called Growing Up Skipper, where you rotated her arm and she'd become a...gulp...BIG girl.. ;)

I'd be one of those two...but with higher heels...

Either a 'Chatty Cathy' with all the little girl trimmings or a Disney Princess type of doll.

First, I would never buy a kid a Bratz doll. My wife and daughter-in-law banned them from the house. I would probably go along the style of Barbie. However, it would be a more defined personality. I wouldn't mind being transformed into a Vanna White doll. I've been watching her turn letters and evolve for so long she makes me ......... Of course, imaging wearing her wardrobe every evening keeps my senses alive, if you get my drift.

It was interesting to see the responses. Any doll will do. I actually look more like GI Joe in a Brats outfit if I really think about that....
I would admit I dress more like a Brats doll than a Barbie, but sometimes I am a Disney Princess too (only if they had a maid character... ).

Sorry if the question was off the wall. I guess that is weird to ask. As for giving a Brat type of toy to a child seems out of the question, no argument here. I did not realize they were based on a cartoon. Perhaps a power puff girl instead?

Zylia

What do you mean, Disney is full of maid characters:D Cinderella is/was the definition of a maid and a few others like Snow White and Aurora (Sleeping Beauty) are into cooking and cleaning too.

Alternatively, you can dress up like Fifi from Beauty and the Beast:

when I was about 8 or 9 years old, I would sometimes play with my sister---we had lots of games and my mom even taught us canasta around that time---my sis had a set of 4 paper dolls (this was way back in 1956!) --- they were about 10 inches high ---I absolutely loved the one named Mitzi, who was dressed for an act on the high trapeze. She was very lovely with a wonderful solid-color baby-blue leotard with matching colored ballet-slippers. I played with her a lot and wished I could be dressed just like in what she was wearing---of course no one else ever knew---my ideal costume now would be a playboy bunny outfit of the same color and 4 inch heels

Those Brats dolls are f'ing hideous...even Barbie is looking a little rough around the edges these days.

I'd be a troll...I'd pawn my jeweled belly button...take Barbie's jeep and her airplane. I'd run that town.

No one suspects the troll.

I like the bimbo Barbie. I must be a tramp (mentally).

The dominant Barbie is also interesting, is there a submissive Ken that goes with it. I would guess they did not complete the Barbie cave with hanging harness and what not... what could possibly be next?....

Okay, if I wanted to look really good and super sexy doing what I do best it would be the first doll. :battingeyelashes:

If I had to use a reality check of doing what I do best in proper tactical attire it would be doll 2. :)

Really, for us is there any other answer other than Barbie? (though a Supergirl doll once inspired a lot of fantasies). For those of you who want a superhero doll, here they all are in one set: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Batgirl-Supergirl-Poison-Ivy-Elektra-Wonder-Woman-Catwoman-Hero-Barbie-Doll-/141197795674?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20e00b615a

Lovely doll Isha and gratz :) But I think the first doll's choice of weaponry is better suited for the apocalypse. The m4 with optics and undermounted shotgun seems more practical for both medium range, and cqb :)

Erica Anne
03-01-2014, 11:09 AM
I am glad this has been amusing.
One question, would the divorce Barbie come with the extra baggage? Unfortunately I look more like the doll that was under the bed in Sid's bedroom in the first Toy Story movie. I don't have the erector set body though. Having kung fu grip may be an advantage, well maybe not. There may be a reason why Ken has such a big smile on his face, I will leave that to your imagination. I guess that leaves one question, will Barbies clothes fit Ken?
