One week left! The time when you'll find lots of awkward looking dudes in lingerie stores. Surely an occasion full of double meaning for those of us with spouses!

So...
What are you doing to take advantage of this time?
Would you shop for her as well?
Any funny or awesome Valentine's shopping stories?
Words of advice to anonymous cowards that need a little encouragement to storm Victoria's Secret? :o

Bonus points for sassy replies.

Glad you mentioned it. I've got to get busy with my yearly plan to
add a few pink babydolls to my collection.

And dammit...i saw one at walmart that was Beautiful but just
now remembered i forgot to pick it up on the way out of there. I was
distracted by buying light bulbs or some useless thing or another...

Wife likes chocolate....the family CD likes babydolls. Works out Great!

I would expect everyone here knows Valentines Day and the preceding week is an excellent time to shop for all the things you generally feel embarrassed to purchase. Great time to fill your lingerie drawer.

If I buy any more lingerie, I am going to have to buy a new bureau - and furniture is expensive. Besides - I've no where to put more furniture. Geez! I need to buy a bigger house. Who knew this cross dressing business could get so expensive!

Reminds me of the law of unintended consequences:
For want of a nail, the shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe the horse went lame.
For want of a horse, the General was missing.
For want of a general the battle was lost.
For loss of a battle the country fell.
And all for the want of a nail.

The Frederick's near me has been very friendly towards me. They have no problem with me trying on items. Last time we were there I sat and looked through the clearance panties bin while my wife was trying something on. One of the SA commented on my bravery and we chatted a little. They have a reasonable selection for fat chicks like me.

This is normally my favorite time to go into stores and even shop! I have decided that due to other constraints I will have to miss it this year.
Well maybe I will shop but won"t buy.

No sassy replies here, I went to a VS in Hawaii and looked at some of the cooler lingerie there.
It seems lighter than the mainland stuff being a tropical climate.
I spent time looking at jamas and other sleepware.
As I had spent so much time fingering the goods I attracted attention.
"Are you looking for something for Valentines day?" came a distant voice.

"I am just looking for something light to sleep in as my night attire is all Chicago based."
She assumed it was for me, correctly I might add and proceeded to help me choose my size by holding clothes up against me.
I was in drab.

I took a pause and looked at a bra in passing, immediately she said "pop over there and try it on".

Yep! The startled Gazelle grabbed the jamas, paid for them and left.

"Another opportunity missed". :)

I use to shop for lingerie for myself and with my wife for herself. Back in the 1970's and 1980's we were able to find really pretty and colorful lingerie. The styles were great. Nightgowns were made with gathering at the bust to recognize the fact not all women are flat chested. Really, the last time I bought a nightie for myself was in 1992. It is a floor length red gown. I have a great collection of pretty bras, panties and slips in Valentine colors; reds and pinks. What is out there now does not even approach the finery of decades ago. Both of us have given up shopping in stores. I do mine on eBay.

I have never thought of V Day (that sounds better :)) to be an opportunity to shop for something for Katey. We don't really do a great deal of gift giving here in the UK anyway (just mass commercialisation again, mumble, mumble..:hmph:) and I don't need an excuse to go shop...

Anyway, it's hardly hiding behind V Day if you go browsing in VS hoping that everyone thinks it's for your SO and then you want to try something on... busted! :bonk:

Before V Day became a global/western day of lurv, it was celebrated in parts of the UK as an evening of practical jokes. Maybe buy the SO a whoopee cushion? Or how about get dressed, surprise the SO with a 'new' man and say it's a practical joke?? No? I'll go back in my anti-Hallmark box then...

For those that want to go shopping in person but were too self conscious, this is the best time. Give yourself another excuse to be in the lingerie dept and go shopping.

You might not find very good sales, but you will find lots of pretty things. Stores raise the prices knowing men are uncomfortable shopping and can make an easy profit. I will wait until after VD when they have the stuff on clearance. The selection of sizes may not be as good, but the prices will be.

One thing I learned buying lingerie in boy mode - nobody cares if it's for you or someone else. Onlookers will assume you are buying for someone else. Sales associates may know (for sure if you ask to try something on), but your money spends exactly the same as that of a GG.

I always liked the idea that the SA will figure it's for her,and then I get to say,not her,it's for me ! One time she didn't believe me. Have to love it.

Its a great time of year for CD/TG who are nervous to get out and shop but you said it right Paula, Sales Associates may know but probably don't care and everyone's money does spend the same!

When I go to the stores (such as Sears) I usually end up buying new necklaces for myself around V-day. But mostly I still buy lingerie and clothes online when the sales are on.

Hi Jesse, I've always thought that Christmas and Valentines day are two of the best times for CDs' to shop
although I shop all year long with no problems.
