18th May 10 - I was seen by the Leeds Gender Identity clinic to be assessed for a confirmation diagnosis of Transsexualism, this assessment continued to 14th Sep 10, the result of which was a confirmation of “primary” transsexualism and Gender Identity Disorder. During this 4 month period it was basically therapy sessions, there was not even a confirmed place for me on the care pathway. I was fortunate that there was only 3 sessions required to confirm the diagnosis, the Leeds clinic usually undertake at least 6 sessions, my saving grace was that I had already begun my social transition.
15th Oct 10 - I was accepted onto the Gender Clinic Care pathway and I was able, on my first appointment, to confirm the 3 elements of social gender transition. These elements are :
Legal change of name
Living in gender role, female in my case :p , in every aspect
Evidence of meaningful activity in gender, this could be paid employment or voluntary work
Until these 3 elements are evidenced, there is no progress along the care pathway with regards to hormone treatment and surgery.
21st Dec 10 - My first appointment with the Endocrinologist. Not a happy one for me , after assessment and discussion regarding ongoing medical issues, the advice was that I needed to sort out these issues before Hormones would be prescribed. Away I went, both unhappy  but happy :), at least I knew that I was eligible for hormone therapy.
22nd Mar 11 - I received my first prescription for Hormones, I had gone away with the advice about my medical issues and dealt with them. Hormone treatment continues but I hit a benchmark in Mar 12, at this time I was eligible for a first medical opinion for vaginoplasty, I’m not sure when this first opinion was done, but the 2nd opinion was done 19th Nov 11.
08th Jan 13 - I got my appointment with my surgeon of choice, Mr Oliver Fenton at Methley Park. This appointment went so well, that if I wished I could have booked my surgery date that day. Unfortunately, Mr Fenton’s technique requires some genital hair removal on the scrotal sack, so a surgery date was delayed. I started the hair removal regime.
08th Aug 13 – Surgery, as I said to Sandra as I came out of the anaesthesia :bday2: to Me,
So why the reference to Meatloaf, well as a result of my time line, I have hit 2 out of 3 milestones, which ain’t bad :p
09th Dec 13 – Discharged by Hormone prescribing clinic to GP care and prescribing
21st Jan 14 – Discharged by Leeds Gender Identity Service
?? – 6 month post op check up complete, Mr Fenton has a policy of seeing SRS patients at 12 month post op, that is set for late Jul 14.
I am expecting, especially as there have been no complications, that this is going to be a formality and the final phase of my physical/mental transition will be complete.
