I have been out in my own yard fully dressed but last night was the first time I have been outside away from home. Last night I got the urge to wear mascara and lipstick, which I don't normally do, when dressed. I was dressed in a warm wool skirt suit with nylons and 3 inch block heels. I realized that I had a letter that had to be posted. Not wishing to use up work time I decided to post straight away. I put on a warm overcoat and I drove the five mile. MY hair was just washed and quite long so on I went with no male clothes as back up. I got there and back, no dramas, there were cars about but I had no nerves at all. I posted my letter and felt good about what I had done. It didn't amount to much but may lead unto other things. To others I would say do it and do not end up regretting what you didn't do in life.

Well done Georgina!

Good job you didn't have to do it 24 hours earlier or you would have been literally blown away by the experience... (as in real windy weather..) :)

Keep warm...!

Good for you Georgina! Every journey begins with that first small step, which can lead to many more adventures. Always be comfortable and confident in whatever you choose to wear.

Georgna,
Posting a letter is one of those big errands I have done dressed.
Now it has become insignificant.
I hope you always remember the elation you felt when you first went out dressed.

I've found if I am doing something that appears normal nobody really notices. Under cover of darkness I've driven to the post office to mail a letter or to the library to return books through the night return slot. I usually park far enough from the slot or the mail box to stretch out my legs. Of course with several libraries within easy driving distance there is absolutely no reason I have to return all the books to one library! It's easy to think up chores to do. Congrats.

I guess you could call that first time your ice breaker, mine was going to the casino, now just a regular thing going out. Once you have broken the ice its sink or swim, I've become a good swimmer.

The first time I went out I drove around my town wearing a sexy blouse, my favourite skirt and earrings. No make up. When I left home I knew I would have to fuel if I went a bit further from home, and I did. There were no self-service gas stations there at the time, but the employee came to my car and I paid him. I am sure he noticed I was a CD, but made no fuss about it. Simply exciting!

I remember driving to the next town dressed to mail a letter, but it would have involved getting out of the car, it was about 2pm. So I had to drive to the next town where they have a drive up mail box. Thank goodness I live in NJ where all the towns are pretty close together. Hugs Jaymee

Congratulations, Georgina! I fully agree about regrets. Isn't it amazing how, with all humans, not just us, people often anticipate the worst outcomes when a new experience presents itself? Rather, I'm trying to go with the flow, whatever happens, it's never been as bad as imagination might make it. Often enough, things turn out better than I had hoped! That was the case the last time I went out, anyway.

Hi Georgina,

CONGRATS on your step out. I am glad it went well and you realized it really is a non-event for those around you.

Hugs
