Well, I had a fairly eventful week, last week. I've started to let people at work know about vikki, mainly because the girls at work have started to notice my change in appearance. A few of them had a pretty good idea anyway. So, just the woman---which makes about 10 of them. I work at a bank, so, not many guys there--and the few that are, work independently, and probably won't be there in a year. The girls I have known for a long time. Everybody was fantastic, and gave me full support. We are one branch, out of 15, and I'm confident that the news stays at home. I didn't anticipate how GREAT it feels, to share this info! It's like a new found freedom. The best thing,is that everything is still the same, and, we are all more comfortable with each other. Too cool.
Now--- I have been playing in a Base-Ball fantasy league, for a long time. (actually, a Rotisserie League, which is a bit different) The "rookies" in the league, are still in for more than 10 years. The "old timers", have been around since 1982! Including me. We only get together once a year, but, we have a site, and the chatter goes on all year. Well, with the football player coming out, I decided to tell the league that I'm transgendered---through the site. All the guys were ok with it, and told me to live my life! I have their full support. This years draft will definitely be interesting! It just get's easier. I have some good momentum going on, and I know that you have advised that I should go to HR, but, I am going to wait that out a little longer. I've always thought that I was on the edge of a cliff, and to go farther, I had to jump, but, was afraid of where I might land. Well, I jumped, and it looks good!:)

Sounds like it's going well for you.
I came out to groups of people at a time, and met overwhelming happiness and acceptance. Altogether much better than I anticipated.
I hope it continues. Liberating is 't it?

It sounds as though it is going great for you. Just take caution, those occasional flat tires can hurt.

Just be aware of the potential for derailment. Having said that, 99.9% of derailments can be put back on track with help and time. Be the freight train, slow and steady, the express may get there ahead of you, but there is more risk of hitting something on the track.

Thanks for the input. Yes, I may run into someone that is not so understanding. I'm ok with that--and if/when it happens, I'll just chalk it up to experience. So far though, I'm overwhelmed by the support, and good wishes from everyone. Three more today! Funny coincidence--since I've been letting people know, I have run into 3 people, while shopping---who are added to the "list",lol! Before this, I've been ready for an encounter with someone I know, but, it never happened--or, the time was wrong. Maybe it's NOT a coincidence??:)

That's great news, Vikki. I have to ask, have you discussed this with HR?

no,not yet. I'm keeping things within our own branch, which is somewhat independant, as far as dealing with the corporate people. We are far away, and very few "bosses" travel our way, and it's seldom when they do. My clothing choices are kind of subtle, and some of the girls had no clue that I was wearing woman's clothes some days. One girl thought I was trying to be a "hippie"! It's like 3 different companies, when dealing with the big office--one, I'm ok with, the other 2, I'm not sure. In my job, I deal with all of them.
