I've mentioned a few times that I would love to transition if I could figure out how. Already been to the gender therapist and got the letter for HRT. Biggest problem was being on the new job only 4 months and not sure how the company would respond even though we are in a very progressive part of Chicago. So I took a deep breath and went in to talk to the head of HR. He's only been on the job a couple years and wasn't aware of anyone transitioning on the job before but was pretty sure that since Illinois is a little more progressive too, there shouldn't be a problem. I told him that it probably wasn't going to be for a while yet and he said to come in again when it might look like it was coming to fruition.

Just wish they covered Transgender Healthcare, but the pin is slowly being pulled.

call the health the insurance company, they may decide to cover some stuff after all. The worst they can do is say no. And congrats. :-)

Great news, traci! Nice that they are keeping the door open for you. Have you looked into the Howard Brown program?

Congrats Traci! Isn't it great when one of your big fears gets put to rest?

Really proud of you for taking the step - it's a scary one.

Thanks girls for all your kind words of encouragement. Next big step is telling family why I'm moving out from my wife and son. That I am NOT looking forward to, but once the weather starts breaking I'll be in a much more positive frame of mind. I hate the cold!!!!!!!!

Vikki - Yes I've checked out there program on their website and exchanged a few e-mails. Unfortunately the couple of times I could make their T-Time support group meetings were Monday holidays. Their hormone program looks quite interesting and since I've got a letter recommending HRT. I should be able to start later this year. Are you familiar with HBHC? Have you been to their Support Group?

Paula - your still one of my heroines. I remember we both joined here about the same time and I am so happy for you and the progress you've made. You're an awesome woman.

Thanks to all you lovely girls!

Hi Traci----I've been to HBHC, but, haven't got involved with the programs-yet. I don't live to far from them, and it's something I'm seriously looking into. I'm really grateful they are there for us! Maybe,I'll see you there some day!
