So I'm sitting in the doctors office waiting to see the doctor for my bloodwork so that I can start hormones. I am both nervous and VERY excited. I guess the doctor is going to go over all the changes that will take place, make sure that it is definitely what I want to do and if so...which it is....I'll start hormones in two weeks when the bloodwork comes back with positive results. Taking deep breaths and trying to relax! I have some serious butterfly movement going on inside!

First off, congratulations! :D Also, I think it's pretty normal to be nervous, this is a big step for you! I know it's hard to relax, but just remember that everyone here is 100% behind you and that it'll be okay :)

Well, I can honestly say that I'm a little disappointed. I met with the doctor and he has no experience in the matter. Looks like I drove an hour and a half for nothing. Their website really needs to change their information. I even asked when I first called them if they do mtf hrt and they said yes. What a load...I'm upset now...

Could you ask your therapist who is the most experienced in the area? Or maybe someone in a local support group?

Therapist won't help since she's not a gender therapist and I depressingly don't have a support group. The doc have me a name for another doctor...I'm just hoping I don't have to wait another month and a half to be disappointed again...

It may help to find a gender therapist and find a support group, there are some in your area and it is a rather helpful part of a transition. Either way I hope you find a doctor with experience in gender work, you will be better for it.

Sorry I can't just give you a name and number. I'm not from Atlanta. I know it is a little disappointing but look at the bright side, there are more places to call. Keep your head up and keep moving forward. You will find the right doctor soon. Google is your friend.

Eva I'm sorry to hear about your disappointment. But I don't know what I would do without my Therapist who works with a lot of transgender clients. I've been on HRT since June and even though my mind is so much clearer and I feel so free for the first time in my life. Transitioning is a lot to go though. I hope you can find someone with more transgender experience, they also have a lot of contacts. I hope you get what you are looking for.

Sorry for your disappointment Eva. I know how you feel. It would seem that in a large city like Atlanta you would be able to find the specialists you would need for transitioning. Hope you have better luck with the next appointment.

Hugs,
Donna

Eva I am sure that was very dissapointing. If you use the resources available to you, mainly your computer you can find what you need.

I did a google search and it returned many results. Here is a link for you http://atlantagender.org/professionals.html . It list both gender therapists and doctors, both GP and Endo's. There were many returned with my search, this is just the first one.

Hugs
