I Know who are you calling Mature? Knowing what you know now would you have treated your body any different?
For example my line of work is ruff on the hands and legs, I still have all ten fingers, but oh the scares, the knees are as knobby as can be. Oh yea and the Sun I would have used a lot more sun block or stayed out of the sun more.
What about Tattoos anybody wished they hadn't?
Maybe some of you younger girls should take note.
You only get one skin don't abuse it.

Hey Rena,
If you would have asked "For you old Biddies" you may have gotten a lot more responses,
however now that I'm here the answer is Yes, I would have treated my skin better with a lotions and I would have exercised a lot more.

Well, I certainly would have been more careful about my diet and stayed away from those wild swimgs in my weight. Also, the thing that first came to mind, I would have had a sex change operation.

I don't know, I'm 53 now and I'm still looking halfway decent, so I can't complain. I got me a few tatoos, actually planning on getting another one, so I like them. One thing I'd do over is go easy on the dope and booze, and definately the cigarettes.

Luckily for me, I've taken reasonable care over the years and my bod is OK. My preferred exercise is running, the main downside of this is wonky knees. Face is getting a bit creased now, especially around the eyes...maybe I'll get some work done on it one day. As somebody else mentioned...knowing what I know now I might have considered ffs in my youth...if it had existed then.

I guess the old saying of "I would have taken better care of myself had I known that I would have lived this long" may apply to most of us in some way or fashion. I think that I would have pursued my fem side more aggressively if given a do over.

Take good care of your skin. It's the largest organ on your body !

Hi Rena,
I am an older gal here and yes in similar boat and sure wish I had used sun screen or bloc. Now I find out the ole prostate is in trouble  <sigh>. Oh well life goes on. So I guess I am mature :(

I'm 52 and plump so when dressed indoors en-femme I look like somebody's granny I have to say, your typical middle aged hausfrau. When I was younger and slimmer and looked a lot more like the picture I found on the web that I use for my Avatar, I could have gone out en-femme but never had the courage to do so. Now I would be more like "Old Mother Reilly" or "Dame Edna Everage" than "Ru Paul" or "Dana International" so I am happy to stay indoors and dress in privacy. I suppose I should have been less indulgent with the cakes and cookies and burgers.

I'd have given up smoking while it was easy. Not drunk myself into a stupor and gone to less orgies.

In my case, I've kept to a healthy diet, used moisturizer regularly on my face, used SP 50 sunblock when outside, and most important of all, have genes that seem to delay the ageing process. In our family the men age very slowly. We mature quite late too. Puberty gets over at about 22. (You can imagine the problems THAT caused.)
Anyway, though I have little opportunity to dress these days, I can still look not too horrible when the occasion demands. Not THAT bad for an old lady whose next birtday will be the 73rd.
The photo you see was taken about a year ago when I treated myself to a professional portrait at Glamour Shots. The make-up is professional too.

So glad to find some older girls around. I am 76 years old, and being of fair skin have had my share of time with skin cancers (fortunately all basel cell, not serious). Take the advice, young ladies. Beware the son.
So glad to see Betty Ann here, another Septuagenarian (is that right word?).
Wondering if other girls feel the same way? I feel more and more feminine and more and more desirous of living as a woman than ever. Seems to grow stronger every month now. Been dressing off and on (but with demanding family life with 5 kids), I had to keep it under wraps.
Anyone else experiencing this desire which for me now has become overwhelming? Love to hear.

Have to admit in all honesty that I have always been into skin care. I was a metrosexual long before they ever thought up that term. I'm glad I was too as it has paid dividends for me. I am 54 now and all my life I have looked younger than my actual age. Been lucky as well to have the benefit of good genes and longevity on my father's side.:)

One tiny benefit,as I totter into grumpville is the need to wear specs, leave em off,and the misty image in the mirror, still looks fairly resonable.

I see several of you have mentioned tattoos. The same goes for me and had I known how it would effect me later in life I would never had gotten it. And even worse, I used to know a doctor who would have removed it for free and I didn't do it. Talk about a dumb blonde. So it's long sleeves for me when I go out.

This is a, "What would you have done differently?" thread. I've been crafting my response for the last 30 minutes or so, and realized my life has been one of doing things differently. I've spent my life trying to do things better all of the time, and I've had a modicum of success. It's always been about me being better than me, improving myself. Mostly it's personal survival. So, here goes. This is what I've done.
On November 21, 2005, I was carded for buying beer. I was - and am - 48. Drinking age is 21.
I watch my weight, and I am below the ideal weight for women my height (much moreso for men my height). I don't eat fatty foods, at least too much anyway. I limit what I drink for alcohol, and I stay away from artificial foods. For instance, if I want a soda, it's Coke. If I want a diet drink, it's black tea, black coffee, or water. (Btw, my decaf drink is water. Coffee and tea is always with caffeine.) I eat meat, fish, veggies, and fruits. I especially like very hot and spicy foods. While I don't get all weird and treat my body as a "temple", I do see it as a machine. Hmmm... I drive my cars hard, take good care of them, and have absolutely no tolerance for them when they become unreliable.
I try to stay attractive for my wife, marital problems notwithstanding. I want to look good. Okay, that's vain, sure is. I'd like to think that when someone sees me, they like what they see.
I quit smoking 15 years ago. In the process, I lost 15 lbs. (7 kg).
I am on no regular medications for anything.
I take vitamin supplements every day, and brush and floss my teeth regularly.
I keep my mind sharp. I read, I think, I write stories. I program my computers, I play with math and physics.
I work. At present my job sucks. It won't for too long; I'll change that. I've done it in the past. When I'm doing things that are challenging and important, impossible and with impossible deadlines, I'm alive.
I play with my daughter. I'm a loner, but she needs both her Mom and Dad. She always wants to do things with us, so I try to find ways to let her do the things I do. I also do the things she likes to do.
I use time as the most precious commodity we have. Every day we start with 1,440 minutes. I don't always spend them wisely, but I sure try, because you can't bank them.
In conclusion, I think that all of the things we do contribute to what we are. I try to live with no regrets, and I don't do guilt.

Glad to be in the company of all yous older women. The biggest lesson I have learned in life, so far, is we all get older. As for changes during my short-but-seemingly-long-never-ending-not-just-yet-anyhow tenure on this planet, I'm certain I would have done everything differently, but I'm not exactly sure what!
Love,
j-a

Hmmm I would have taken better care of myself. A lot fewer bouts of serious drinking and smoking for starters. I have a couple of tattoos, but a lot of GG's have tattoos of hearts and flowers on their upper arms, now days. The single most important thing I would do is to prevent sunburn and to start moisturizing earlier. I have skin cancer (basel cell) on my face, from many years of working outside in the sun. The most serious was on my right eyebrow and went partly behind my eye. Had sun screen been available back when I was younger, I would have used it religiously.

Other than not having female attributes.....boobs, narrow waist line and slender arms and hands........I am quite happy with my body. Daily, I bath and moisterise, do light exercise. I do not eat between meals which consists of a light breakfast, lunch and evening meal. I have to admit I should drink more water than I do. it is generally tea and fruit juices. Would I have done anything different, other than looking after my teeth better when I was younger, I don't think so.
Looking towards the future, I am 70 in May, I would'nt mind having a face lift as gravity is starting to take effect.
Love
Brenda
