I had a chance to see the old Steve McQueen movie Le Mans recently, and one line got me to thinking. His comment was that "racing is living. Everything else is just waiting." I think that applies to some of us. To paraphrase: Dressing is living. Everything else is just waiting.

Interesting point Anna - and a very succinct definition of obsession...

For those of us who are so obsessed - I think you're right and it's a good parallel.

For some of us though, there are other things that are sometimes more important... so while I may certainly look forward to and anticipate my time with a certain excitement, it's not all waiting time - I think that would feel like a lot of wasted time... :)

Hmmm, I wonder if you could spend a long time (say two weeks) en femme if that would still be true?

I don't know, but would love to try. Anyway, I wasn't trying to be so profound with the statement. Just an interesting twist on the movie line.

To paraphrase: Dressing is living. "Everyone" else is just waiting. :)

I suppose if you are a closeted Cder you could say, " dressing is for racing ! "

Some may choose this: "Racey dressing is living. Everything else is just waiting."

Or . . . Racing and Dressing . . . if you do it keep both hands on the steering wheel and stop checking your make-up in the vanity mirror. :daydreaming:

Waiting and living........ I do quite a lot of waiting. I always do as much living as I can and will keep living as much as possible, after all we all love dressing and we all do as much as we can. Lucy xx

I agree that in the sense of living should be truly based on acting on what makes a person happy with themselves that doesn't hurt another being. Living is enjoying one's life.

Well Racing and Dressing is out for me. I can't handle the clutch in heels. For those of you who know what "heel and toe" is in high performance driving, that would be pretty much impossible.
