Has anyone been to Miss Vera's Finishing School in New York? Is it any good? I have a young TG friend in the NYC area and want to find out if it might be good for her. Thanks!

Hi Persephone,
Nice name. I have not been myself, but I reviewed the book on my blog. It was full of broken or outdated links and was not exactly a "how to" guide as promised. I would suggest that there are better, more modern, and more suitable places other than MVFS that you could introduce to her. There were lots of anecdotes of sissy maids, serving maids, and ballet girls and the like, probably not something a TG person would enjoy. I think there is one thing that they do really well, and that is part you with your money pretty quickly.
Having said all this - I have not been, so it could be wonderful................

I have not been either but my impression is it directed mostly at dom/sub situations, and not simply let the girl out for an evening.

If she leans toward TS it is probably not what she is looking for, though it might be useful to learn how to apply makeup and such (though there is plenty of free resources for that kind of thing nowadays.) It is also very expensive.

I used to live in Fairfield County, Ct, and when I first heard about Miss Vera's Finishing School, I was thrilled. But when I learned more about it, no so much.

Vera used to be a porn star (not that there is anything wrong with that, btw). As others have said, Miss Vera's seems to be a place for 'femdom'. This story in particular:

I wanted more of the 'makeover - go out for dinner and a show with friends' experience.

I would say contact Veronica and find out. I know of her through another friend but have never met her personally. :)

I saw the site and read the books and one day about a month ago I got a friend request on another site from a faculty member of theirs
I was really encouraged since I would be in the city near there about a week later so I accepted and sent a message back which as yet has gone UN-acknowledged
so I guess it is just not meant to be. like evryone above I dont think it was a right fit for me but it could have been a nice stepping stone if it had worked out differently
and yes it looks very costly

Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the info and input. It sounds like it might not work for my young friend.

Hugs,
Persephone.

I think the Las Vegas sites have more merit for what you are after.

I was going to go there for an outing in N.Y. and model for the day, both which would have cost well over, $2000. Then they started to tack on application fees and consultation fees. I know services like this must get endless e-mails, from non-prospective customers. But they knew what I was coming up there for and I had already paid the application fee. I don't have an open pocketbook and if a business is going to nickel and dime me for every little service, I'll take it elsewhere.
