Have dropped 7 lbs and my clothes are fitting better.

I now weight 200 lbs.

However my weight for my height should be 150 lbs. I am 5' 6" tall.

If I reach that goal not only will I feel better, will be able to wear greater looking clothes but will also be able to cross my legs knee over knee.

Good goals to shoot for.

What do you think?

Congratulations about reaching that level. Keep up the great work, not only will you help your overall health and well being, you will even be able to drop several dress and top sizes too, and who doesn't want to shop for new clothes because of necessity versus habit?!

Keep at it, Martha! Being of "a certain age" and too heavy (5'10", 230) I know that being lighter is going to help my joint health down the road, as well as helping me get a noticeable waist. :) I'm on a plan and losing 2-3 lbs each week, so I'm encouraged to hear about your progress.

Oh how wonderful it would be to have a slim waist and be able to cross my legs knee over knee.

Buy How I could swing those hips! LOL!

Sounds great Martha! About a year ago I made a huge decision to get serious about my weight. I am 6'-ish and weighed 205+. Within 5 months I had dropped 25-30 lbs and have NEVER felt better. Completely changed my lifestyle including diet, exercise, etc. Sorry thing is that I did it primarily to look and feel better as Emily.

Hey, that's soooo very coool. I can REALLY identify with your quest. AND I can give you some encouragement.

I weighed 200 pounds last summer. At 5 feet 5 inches that's right in the middle of the "obese" range on the BMI chart. I am now at 149 and that's at the lowest end of "overweight".

I've been averaging 1.5 pounds per week by eating smarter and accepting the fact that there will be times that I will feel hungry. (A Chinese friend told me that one of the differences in our cultures is that a Chinese person considers "hungry" to be a normal feeling whereas to an American person it means that something is wrong and it is time to look for a Burger King.)

My initial goal is to drop another 5 pounds by the end of April. That will put me at the high end of "normal". My second goal is to get down to 135, my weight in high school. I ought to be there by camping season.

Like you, my motivation is to get into more flattering clothes. Depending on the cut, brand, etc. I now wear pants size 8 to 12. I reinforce that motivation by shopping the thrift stores, buying clothes that "just fit", and then pat myself on the back when I return them as donations.

YOU CAN DO THIS.

Best wishes
MsVal

Thanks for that encouraging writeup Ms val.

Since I love short skirts and have nice looking legs, I would look so much better overall with a slim waist and nice attractive clothing.

A goal to shoot for.

Excellent goals. Might I suggest some intermediate milestones. 5o lbs in one big step is a long way to go. How about some 10 lbs increments to celebrate along the way?

You'll live longer, have less pain in your knees and enjoy life too.

I'm on that path also. I have a yellow sundress I refuse to put on until I get down to a shape that it will look good on. For some reason sticking to a diet has been easy.

So your not alone. Thanks for your positive outlook. Every bit helps.

No I won't.

I do things very systematic and careful.

It might take a while but haste makes waste!

I would rather take a longer time and be successful than rush and be sorry!

Yes, shoot for 150. You'll feel better and be more healthy.

Sweetie, I made the commitment 3 years ago and went from 205 to 160 (I'm 5'9), and I got in shape while doing it, and I can tell you the difference is amazing, sooo worth the effort. You'll look and feel so much better, and like you say, your clothing options will explode. I've yo-yo'd a bit since then though, so I'm back at it for the summer season. My goal is 155 and stay there. Here's wishing us both success! xoxo

Martha, for starters set easy goals and gradually make them more difficult.
