My mother was a hairdresser and often worked on friends at home. So the scents of perm solution, bleach, and hairspray became associated with femininity. Sometimes just walking past a salon in the mall the scents get me thinking...Also Chanel No.5, Chantilly.....And hairsetting gel, since I love getting my hair set on rollers, setting lotion, Dippity-Do anyone?
What scents provoke your thoughts of dressing?

Interesting thread and I would have to say "yes" for me it is the smell of powder scented deodorant. Smell has an intense link to memory and feelings so it is not odd that it would invoke an intense emotional reaction depending on the link.

I first got hooked on CDing when I was about 3 or 4 and would go clothes shopping with my mother. The smell of her clothes (no perfume) just intoxicated me.

Old style foundation garments....I just got back from Value Village where there was one of those Playtex 18 hour all-in-one bra and girdle thingies. That rubbery smell...whew! It just reeked of femininity. Too bad...too small!

Can't say they provoke crossdressing desires in me but I certainly like to wear a girl scent or body spray when I'm dressed. :daydreaming:

I wouldn't wear a femme smell when in boy mode either.

Original Dove soap -- the one with the cold cream scent. Still available, and still a potent reminder to me.
Old Style hair spray and setting lotions. They've apparently all been reformulated, cuz I haven't encountered that smell in a very long time.
The freshly starched and ironed (faintly scorched smell) of my mother's cotton shirtwaist dresses. Just a memory now.

Yes, there's a perfume called 'Play', comes in a pink box/bottle. Few women wear it, but for some reason the first time I smelled it, I associated the scent with wanting to dress. As far as I know, it's a recently created line of scents, so it might resemble something from my childhood, I don't know. Anyway, I bought some, and used it when dressing as a girl.

Does anyone know which setting lotions with that old scent are still on the market?

I have 2 tiny little bottle of Dior Poison. The Good stuff.

It does make me think of doing certain things when I smell it.

Probably all in my head though (lucky me....lol!)

When I was younger I could swear pantyhose had a smell to them. Sometimes I was able to smell my sister before even seeing her. I sometime smell new pantyhose to see if I could relive that feeling but there's only one brand that is close. I find the Silk brand pantyhose have a almost the same smell.
