About a month ago I moved for work. I was not and still am not out at work, but I had been getting out a lot more often and was pretty certain I wanted Lindsey to be a much larger part of my life. Anyway, I found an apartment, applied online, and was approved! This is the first time I've ever had to get and apartment before, I have always lived with my parents or in a dorm, so I felt great to be approved for my own place :)

I began to think about the fact that no one in the complex would know me yet, and that I had the chance to make a first impression as Lindsey thereby taking away the fear of people finding out later. So, when move in day came and I had to go to the complex to sign the lease and get the keys, I decided to go as Lindsey. I wore one of my favorite sweater dresses, with tights and riding boots. It was a little chilly so I also wore a pea coat and scarf. I was amazingly nervous despite regularly going out in public.

I arrived at the leasing office and signed the lease. The woman working there was probably in her late 20's only a few years older than me and was super nice, even complemented me on my scarf and purse :)

I have been living here for a little over a month now mostly as Lindsey except for work, with very little incident.

So, has anyone else decided to move into a new place as there femme persona?

Hi Lindsey;
Welcome to the forum, glad you found us.
As for moving; well lets say that my roots go deeper than the house foundation,
witch is down 8' in the ground. Second thing is I would need a fleet of moving Vans
to haul away all my junk.....LOL

Sounds good. I'm just wondering do you use the same name in both modes? Otherwise it gets kind of tacky when having to put down personal information in order to take out a lease.:battingeyelashes::)

not too different from you on my first place (other than college dorms). I worked nights so no one was home when I left and no one was up when I got home. Rest of the time there I was Jennifer so they all thought I was a girl...

Never had the opportunity Lindsey, quite a bold thing you have done I bet it helps with your confidence.

Others will think you a guy for a room mate.

Then others might assume....... :)

Good move.

I never moved into a new place as my femme persona (the real me), but when I got my own apartment for the first time 12 years ago, it was my first chance to be able to cross-dress freely. I cross-dressed from 13-17 when I lived with my parents, but it I was always risking getting caught plus I was using my mom's clothes. From 18-21 I went to college and lived in the dorms with roommates, so I didn't get to CD for a few years.

I have made the real me my first priority to the degree of avoiding roommates and marriage.

congrats on the new place! I did pretty much the same thing when I got my first apartment alone. a few months later when I bought my first house I viewed most of them dressed. I think my realtor took it into account when she suggested homes too, she was great. signed my mortgage and title while wearing a black pencil skirt and a blue and white striped polo with some casual black wedges. I hope you enjoy your new place
