Two weeks ago I transitioned at work and things have been going well. Prior to the change, I worked with HR on how to communicate this with everyone on my floor and those who I interact with regularly within my building. However, part of my job involves interacting with employees at other locations through phone, e-mail and occasional visits. This past week my HR rep and my boss asked that I develop a draft e-mail to send out to those people. I was wondering if anyone has any advice on what I should say in the e-mail and how I should say it?

Thanks!

Hi Melissa, congratulations on a successful start to your transition.

It is difficult to advise you what to put as I don't know your work environment.

You might like to consider saying something about having a medical condition known as Gender Dysphoria and that as part of the treatment you are changing gender and will no longer be known as Mr Fred Bloggs but in future will be Ms Melissa Lynn ...

That is a tough one. I would think you need to speak from the heart but not diverge far from professionalism. I would keep it all positive, as we should in all of our dealings. You know your audience, so don't go away from your feel for how to write to them. Your interactions have provided you an understanding of what needs to be addressed.

I agree, speak from your heart and be as professional as you usually are - but also be candid - your co-workers may appreciate that. Also, you may inspire others there that could be in a similar position - that kind of cool. :-)
