So I have my very first Dr's appointment later in May to finally begin HRT! I was wondering what are they pros and cons everyone noticed in the first few months and what changes should I expect early on? Thanks!
P.S. My therapist referred two doctors, one endo and one not, both with lots of TG experience. I went with the non endo since he had an appointment over 6 weeks earlier than the other, do you all think that would be a problem not going to an endo considering both have lots of TG experience?

It was all good for me honey. I'd bet you're going to get some interesting responses, too! Take selfies every week and date the file names. It might not seem like much is happening day by day but it surely is. My emotional life and self-image changed immensely, but YMMV. Good luck dear, listen to your endo, and think for yourself :-)
All the best, )*( Ann )*(

As long as you do not have any other medical issues to deal with, you should be good to go. There won't be much in the way of changes until about the 3 month mark, usually. Then look out! your breast will become your worst enemy and best friends all at the same time. I agree with taking selfies every week. That way you can document and see the changes as they happen.

First week, pee a lot
month or so, tenderness in breasts
3 months, some growth
somewhere along the way a lot of changes in the emotions and thinking
just gets better from there

My body must have been waiting for me to start estrogen as in 4 months I have small but obvious breast buds and larger nipples/aerola (and wow, do they hurt), my skin is definitely softer and I can see my waist returning and the hollows in my butt cheeks are filling. Also, I am much more mellow.
Remember, each of us is different and the method of taking the hormones will affect the changes you can expect.

Same as Angela for me. Everyone is different though, different prescriptions, different doses.

Don't expect much the first few months or so. The first thing that went for me were morning erections. Breast tenderness and more crying came about 4 months for me.
No problem with the non-endo ... as long as you don't have any unusual problems. My doctor (not an endo) has a practice focused almost entirely on TS. She is better positioned to handle routine care than most endos. I'm sure she would refer me for something complicated, though.

I'm starting soon myself. I'm terrified (mostly of cancer).

I'm sorry what? You are terrified of cancer?

Susan, do you realize that you can get cancer 1001 ways? I would be more concerned with the air we breath everyday or maybe the pesticides used to kill off pests in our homes. Yes cancer is a possibility from HRT but it is no more a threat than waking up in the morning.
