Having been a "closet dresser" for a long time, I recently made the decision to venture out. Without getting into a ton of boring detail, my adventures progressed nicely. Although my confidence was lacking I undertook a solo road trip from Texas to the east coast. The wife, who doesn't know about my dressing was unable to accompany me which afforded the perfect opportunity to continue my ventures. I drove each segment of the trip as Janet. Of course I was so nervous, but overall my confidence greatly accelerated. I have come to accept that people really don't give a dam about how you wish to dress. Once at my destination, I went out every night; sometimes for just a simple walk and once to a CD friendly bar which was a total blast as with a mixed crowd. My business is complete and today I start my three day trip westbound. I'm already excited about this.

If you are having some confidence problems such as I did, I highly recommend such a trip to a city where no-one knows you. There is some excellent advice in this forum on what not to do when going out alone and I would follow that well. You really have to give each move some thought and most of all be safe.

One last thought to share, driving while dressed made me a more careful driver. I closely watched my speed and was very careful passing cars/trucks. The last thing I wanted was a police stop or an accident.

Hi JanetM,
You missed a thread a few weeks ago about Cders making better drivers, should find it if you flip back a few pages. Even when I drove to the next town it felt good I didn't want to end, it's the slowest I've ever driven !

Hi Janet,

Sounds like a great adventure and quite the confidence booster. You are right in that you will find most people don't care how you dress or if they do they have the common courtesy to keep their opinions to themselves. I am glad you had a chance to experience the daylight as Janet. Here is to many more driving adventures in your life and CONGRATS on your first outing.

Hugs

Hi Janet, I'll bet that it wont be long before you are going out in your own town.

Hi Janet,

What a great way to bolster the confidence -- and I think that is the key when we are out and about, sure helps with the presentation. And yes as a previous thread said, most of us are much more careful drivers when dressed. (Hmmm.. driving Un-dressed???)

There are positives about dressing and driver safety is one of them. :)
