As I told every one in this thread : http://www.crossdressers.com/forums/showthread.php?213267-My-SO-s-three-shocks-in-a-day I went to the women's expo with my SO.

I decided to play it cautious and went in drab. The risk of running into the couple of co workers attending the show was too great. We actually did run into one, the other I didn't see but two others that I didn't know were going there actually did and we ran into them. Had I dressed, the last couple of days would have been hell on earth when it came to the workplace and we all know that unless we are transitioning or completely 100% comfortable with who we are, it's best not to bring your CD life into the workplace. Even if your not the one bringing it there.

I already knew I wasn't dressing for the expo itself but I did pack a few bags (3 to be exact, two different outfits, one pair of peep toed heels, one pair of wedges, wig, bra, enhancers, and my make up. what I forgot to pack was my makeup remover wipes and eye pads) so I could dress after we left.

The expo itself was a HUGE disappointment for both myself and my SO. None of the makeup companies even bothered to show and that was what we were hoping for. I personally hope to get some samples to see if I could match a better coverup to my skin tone but it wasn't meant to be. The one coworker that we did talk to said that last years show was 10x better and every company under the sun was there.

It felt like a huge flea market to me. Everything was way over priced and not very nice at all, especially clothing wise what little of it there was. They did have some nice jewelry vendors there but the prices again were a bit out there and we really didn't see anything that jumped at us. the one thing that every booth had though was a (slim) chance to win a shopping card and all you had to do was give them your name, address, and phone number.

I can imagine all the spam coming our way in email, mail box and phone calls. Our whole adventure there lasted about 2 hours to see everything that was there. At the end My SO said, let's go get Joanne and go to the mall. About 20 minutes away so I was actually going to go to the mall and go inside, the chances of running into anyone we knew there were drastically lower. Plus I wanted to get some pictures ;)

Well, as fate would have it, that didn't happen either. After we left the show, we drove to this mall and parked a bit out so I could change. It was a bit nippy this day so I decided to go with the jeans and wedges instead of the skirt and heels. It just made more sense.

I have already shaved, painted my toes, and had under dressed (panties and hosiery) since the beginning of the day so the makeup would take the most time. As I was dressing, it began pouring out. I mean, it was pouring buckets. We didn't even consider this so no coats, no umbrellas and I really didn't want to get my wig soaked let alone my feet so I changed right back and we headed home.

On our way, we were going to pass through a city that had a CW Price in it that had closed but reopened with what was suppose to be "better product". We both have been wanting to go there since they did and again, huge disappointment. Most of my unique heels came from this store and the new one had no shoe department to speak of. The clothes themselves were a lot worse quality wise and were from various countries that I didn't even know made products for sale. the only thing that said the same were the prices, even cheaper but there was nothing there to buy to actually save money other than to walk out empty handed.

Over all it was a very disappointing day. the expo failed to live up to it's hype, CW price failed on their end, and I didn't get to dress until I got home which I could have done from the beginning of the day. I don't want to sound whiny but I really looked forward to this day and it just shattered on all fronts.

My SO and I had a nice lunch though and spent some time together so it wasn't a total loss and she said "that's ok, there will be plenty of other chances to shine" which made everything seem a bit better in the end :D

Drat, Joanne!

I was looking forward to your post and the rain washed the good parts away! I think your wonderful, supportive SO has it right, there will be other chances to "shine."

Hugs,
Persephone.

Yes Persephone, it really was a let down of a day. Not being able to dress was the biggest part of it. I was far enough out that I could have been a bit more adventurous than I have ever been. Actually being out dressed during the day and amongst the masses. The positive side of that is that it is something I can pretty much do any day I chose so there are still pictures and an outing in the near future. The show though is a thing of the past as I certainly won't waste the time and money next year.

Joanne,
Thank you so much for sharing. Even though the day did not go as planned ( they never do..) I'm sure you had fun with your wife. Her being so supportive & encouraging has got to be fantastic. Sounds to me like you'll be headed out to the next adventure soon. Please post pictures along with the story of your next outing.

Hugs, Connie Marie

PS what was her take on the day?

Sorry your day went that way..I agree the makeup places really didn't do a lot in the show (was there Fri) and yeah a whole lot of sign up advertising for who knows what.
I was looking more for the jewelry side of things myself so didn't mind that aspect.. But the stage shows seemed lame for that time.
Oddly enough though, I'm back at the show again today for jewelry and misc again. Friend was going back so I tagged along again (dressed of course). We'll see if anythings different..but I doubt it :)

No truer words have ever been said. It seems whenever I plan out an outing, or any other plans, they NEVER go as planned. I really don't know why I even bother at this point, I should just do everything on a whim ;)

She actually liked it. I asked her what exactly she liked about it because all they were doing is selling cheap garbage at highway robbery prices and gathering information to spam her with and while she couldn't tell me exactly, she had a nice time.

Without a doubt ;)

Kacey, I hope you enjoy the show even a second time:) they had a ton of jewelry there to look at without a doubt. I was hoping more for the makeup and that was a real let down. I just couldn't believe that none of the big companies were there to display, sell, or hand out samples. I am wondering if makeup is going the way of pantyhose, which, none of those companies were there either :(

Well ended up having a better pageant section for the fashion stage...got in the first group of people to get the cooler bag..and a cheap tiara head/hairpiece :)
I picked up a couple jewelry pieces. Still more demo junk.
Still, while the stuff being sold was kinda flakey, I enjoyed being in there just for the experience.
I had a light blue top and white skirt...about feel overdressed to to majority of jeans-wearers.
I may not have blended...but dang it I don't wanna just wear general jeans when I dress :)
One lady from Krogers booth remembered me from Fridays trip...
Makeup skills keep getting better and faster :)
Funny to see all the guys following their wives/gF's not looking too enthusiastic about it all.
Me I just enjoyed seeing everybody and all the ladies' styles (when they weren't just T-shirting and jeans anyways :))

I suspect that she had a nice time because she was with you. Even through the disappointments in life, she's still with the person she cares about most, and that's always a good thing.
