Yesterday was a day of many first for me! I had my first makeover thanks to Elizabeth Taylor here in Virginia! We had been communicating for six months via e-Mail and then yesterday we finally met. When I first entered her studio my heart was racing so much and I thought the temperature had gone up about 20 degrees! She quickly put me at ease and got to work! The makeup was superb and I didn't recognize myself when I looked in the mirror. Being in my 50's now this was something I have wanted to do for years and I was filled with so much emotions and Beth never let scared be one of them! I enjoyed the pictures so much and want to post, but Diane Edwards post has me thinking hard about that now. Besides I still haven't figured out the size rules, 500 X 650 what? Pixels?
Anyway, then the moment came for me to leave as I had plans to attend a gathering of us girls locally. I don't know which was scarier, walking to my car or getting out of my car and to walk to the door of the house of a complete stranger, but I did it! And it was great! I had such a great time and everyone made me feel so welcomed, which I really appreciate being a big girl too! There was over 40 sisters at the event!
And then the event was over and I thought about changing there but didn't want the evening to end so I decided to drive home. But my adventure was not over as I got lost with the male part of me not wanting to pull the GPS out. The next thing I knew I was in front of the Smithsonian in D.C.! Panic, how did I leave Virginia and as I thought about it it meant I had driven threw Maryland also! Time for the GPS! As I got undressed I looked at the clock and seen the time of 11:59 PM. Cinderella time! What a great evening! I look forward to doing it again and the next time I hope to join the group as they go to a local bar afterwards! One big baby step done! What a way to start a new adventure!
Thanks to everyone here who helped me and everyone who helped me last night!

Miss Genny, congrats, I know it was a big step, but it was worth every dollar and moment, I know what your talking about being nerves running so fast you don't know what to think, but have a wonderful makeover does make a girl feel good about herself, thanks so much for your story, I hope you someday feel comfortable to post pictures here at the site, hugs.

It's a good thing you pulled out the GPS while you still had gas in the tank - at least you would have looked good gassing up if you needed too!

I am sure there is some hierarchical order to what comes first when the new girl meets the world, but I also sure most often it starts by walking out the front door. And, and you did it!! Good for you~:)

Makeovers are a great way to get to your "next step", whatever that is. For me, my firs tmakeover was the first time that I ever had makeup on. The second time was the first time I ventured out to a restaurant en femme and the third time, it was just before attending a CD support group. Each time, I became just a little more emboldened. Makeovers are great!!!!

Hi Genny, it's Erica. I'm glad you had a good time. Now see, if you had followed me to Freddie's you wouldn't have wound up at the Smithsonian. Hope to see you again soon.

So true Erica! I will follow you next time! LOL! I will always remember you as the first sister I ever meant! I truly had a great night and it was due to great ladies like yourself!

Genny

Congratulations. Now that you have crossed these boundaries, it will only be easier the next time.

As for me, I met some friends before the soiree at a mainstream Mexican restaurant.

Now you know why I told yo to make sure that you had a full tank of gas before leaving home. Sometimes stuff happens.
