Last year I posted a graph of circles showing how much people had used this subsection of the forum in 2012. I still had some data from that lying around, so I decided to compile a few more statistics, and post the results here:
http://www.skynet.ie/~susan/cdstats.html
I can't guarantee everything is 100% accurate, but I tried to be as careful as possible. :)

Amazing!! I would ask how you did that--but probably wouldn't understand your answer!

very very cool.
the GG to CD word frequency was particularly thought provoking.
what an interesting mirror to hold up to the forum.

You have done very well. :)
"Old Mr. Grace, Are you being served?"
I do like the new statistics you gleaned from the programme.
There are enough words there to formulate replies to just about anything on the forum.
Did you do a graph for this year?
It would be interesting to see how language has changed and what new words have been made fashionable.
The English language, expression and slang terms are changing constantly.
Used intelligently as they are here statistics can be a useful and informative tool.

Phooey! Everybody else said what I would have if I'd gone first...
Thanks for posting this, it is very cool!
Can't help myself from looking at averages based on your number. ~111,000 posts/~4000 posters = ~28 posts per poster average, ~1 post every 13 days per poster.
What was the greatest number of posts by a single poster? (I don't want to know who it was though). Do you know what the greatest number of words was by a single poster? How many of us posted a novel's worth of words (roughly, 20,000 and up?)

The 1% stat is particularly interesting. I wonder how big that difference is right now.

Very cool. Thanks for posting
And can I just say that who ever is using the word 'knickers', please stop. 'Panties' is bad enough!!! :)

fascinating , the one word that jumped out at me was restroom for the CDs and bedroom for the GGs. I guess that tells you something right there about concerns.

As a web developer, I'd love to see how you did that! If you prefer, reply in PM so we won't bore everyone else :)

Very good indeed! :cheer:
I like the word clouds.... Interesting how GGs seem to use more expletives than CDs.... (Actually, just the same in my household... :D)
Somehow that makes me feel... better....?

Heya, I just checked the raw data. The most posts that year by a single person was 2606, with 141,327 words.
Roughly 60 people posted more than a novel's worth that year.
On the flip-side, 887 (~22%) people posted 1 post.

Hi Susan, That was an interesting thread, Thanks .
Very interesting data! Like Katey, I was also surprised by the propensity of GGs for Anglo-Saxon verbiage, particularly since such usage is frowned upon here.
I don't find it surprising that the CDer's posts are more heavily concerned with the mechanics of CDing ("girdle, earrings, panties..." while the GGs are more concerned with the effects of CDing "marriage, fantasy, employers..." Of course, the CD and GG word clouds omit words that are common to both groups so they present a somewhat skewed picture of our interests.

How many new ones made the cut last year and how many fell off the list?
I know these questions could go on forever and I applaud your efforts as I thought it was a great effort on your part.

Susan, how did you gather the data? Do you have any way of looking at the number of views for a thread and the number of responses? How many threads got started that year, how many views were there for each thread, and what's the average? Is there any way of seeing what threads got the most responses?
