Last week I went to social security to get my name changed. Yesterday and today I waited nearly all day at the Motor Vehicle Administration and finally got my new license too. And it's got a big fat "F" on it. A few more places to notify and "he" will just be a footnote in my history. I'm so happy right now. : )

Really the first day I got it I sat for hours with it in my hand staring at it.

I find it so amazing the differences between the two sides of the pond. We can get the "F" on most of our documents, just be declaring we are female, however, the one document that we cannot get changed, without jumping through so many hoops is the only one that recognises our gender, our birth certificate.
