View Full Version : Things I've noticed 10 weeks into HRT

A few noticeable things have happened.

Boobs: Oh dear lord they're sore as hell.

Nipples: Areolas grew a bit, both still innies, still no tactile feedback.
Sometimes they get bumps or a yellowy appearance but that can be massaged out, no idea why.

Hair: All I've noticed is sparser arm hair.

Skin: I hear smoother skin being mentioned a lot but I have no idea if that's the case.

Strength: Went down a bit actually, maybe related to the nasty fatigue I'm fighting.

Voice: Obviously no pitch change but how the hell am I getting read as female on the phone like 80% of the time? Unless subconscious vocabulary, tone, and intonation changes happened.

Libido: Dropped like a stone at first but now it's just under where it was.

All in all I have no regrets starting and I see myself continuing into the future.
:)

Hi Corrinne!
I am right at the same point as you. Here is what I noticed different.

Nipples: Never were innies but I am starting to watch for excessive protrusion as I may need to make them less noticeable soon.

Hair: I zapped my body hard beforehand with an epilator and home laser, so no comment there but I am getting new baby hair in the widow's peaks of my hairline.

Skin: I am also unsure. Mine is definitely difference, but it could just be the extra hydration.

Strength: Eh, not sure yet but the fatigue is real. I am about to get back into an exercise program. I can tell you from a speech from her this week, that you can still overcome it as Kristen Beck still likes to show her guns.

Voice: You won't get a change from HRT. Start the lessons as it will probably take some time.

Libido: What's that?

I know, it's especially more strange because I haven't been arsed to start the lessons yet.

2.5 Weeks in and at 1/2 dose of both Spiro and Estradiol, I have an appointment on the 10th and will go on full doses of both. As strange as it may be I am looking forward to the breast tenderness, but I di wonder about the nipples since they are already sore from 4 month old piercings.

I've read about some just taking them out due to growth concerns plus the pain, that's why I held off.
Some said switching to barbells helped IIRC.

Some (but not all) transfolks of various kinds have obvious female intonation and vocabulary, it shows even with the deeper pitch. Easily identifiable. I've seen it in CD's, middle-pathers, TS's.

WWW nothing should change much until 12 weeks in. You will probably notice your ears have a funny feeling to them. DO NOT touch them or LOOK at them. At 16 weeks you will notice you now have pointy ears. It's like the rules for Mogwai 1. Don't put it near light, especially sunlight, it can kill them.

2. Don't let it get wet with water nor give it any water to drink nor bathe it.

3. No matter how much it cries or begs, NEVER feed it after midnight.

That just makes me sad over all the classic movies I've never seen.
People get surprised when I say that I never watched The Wizard of Oz.

if it hasn't started yet.....just wait until they start itching.............1 year in and no more itching lately but good growth and the nipples are finally changing.

Boob itch or nip itch?
They're just both sore for now, IIRC it really started about 4 weeks in.

Lucky you. I have been on M2F HRT for over two years, but with my voice being deeper than 90 percent of the male population I have no such luck. It was frustrating when I got ma'am at a sevice station when I paid for the gasoline but I opened my mouth, and I tried to speak with a feminine voice. I was then sir'ed.

A few noticeable things have happened.
I am 6.5 months since my first injection into the thigh:

Boobs: Definitely and still sore from 2 weeks and continuing. Went from a very flabby AAA moobs situation to a real A/B cup.

Nipple: Areola nearly doubled and nipples are quite obvious.

Hair: I already have a good amount of scalp hair, getting a bit thicker. Body/arm/leg hair is really thinning out and growing much slower.

Skin: Is quite soft and getting smoother.

Voice: I have almost given up and accepting what I have. I just try to talk 'quieter'.

Libido: As some above have said; what's that.

I am more than happy with my results. I was at a party last night and I received comments like: you look happy, you look at peace, you look serene. Wow, did I soak those up!!

I used to be angry about still having a libido but now that I can feel things again...
The other bonus is that the biological pressure for that is so much less than before.

Still slowly coming out though, not wanting to step into the minefield of telling my father.
My mom told him I was going downtown for pride (I was in the trans march*) but I don't know if he knows that.

*In one photo you can see my back!

17 Weeks In...

Boobs: All growth happened weeks 0-3. Now, just various areas itch erratically so I know the skin is growing to prepare for the next growth spurt. Itching since Week 4 and counting. Mine never really hurt...they just had this really fabulous feeling of pressure pushing and rippling waves of things happening. I will not soon forget it and can't wait for the next one!

Nipple: Areola is about 25% larger, puffier, and smoother.

Hair: Head hair is not really any different except I've been growing it for 9 months so it's longer. Body/arm/leg hair grows much slower. Probably 1/2 the pre-hormone rate or better. My body and arm hair was primarily blonde, but the black ones have all but vanished. Leg hair is much lighter.

Skin: Softer and smoother, but less hair helps with that too.

Voice: Hormones don't change this, but I've been practicing. It's pretty good at this point, but stamina is an issue.

Libido: Went from what I assume to be pretty normal to nothing.

Mental: I'll throw this in...I feel relatively the same, but I have moments when I'm super giddy. I think I did just have my first female cry a few days ago. Not sure if it entirely counts but waking up crying from a dream and then it continuing for an hour was kinda crazy.

Face: Fat rearranged on my face so my cheeks are puffier and I have really prominent dimples...awesome! My face also looks thinner than it did...definitely lookin' more female! :)

Excited for another 17 weeks!! :)

Wow, I wonder why so many had their libido disappear.
The only thing I really noticed in that department is being more attracted to hairier guys, other than that it's the same.

Not that I mind anymore, now that I can actually feel something and reach O I don't mind having a libido at all.

Testosterone dropping for most.

I've been taking Spiro, Finasteride, and Estradiol for 23 months. My T started in the mid-800's, and you have to remember that for males, not only are snapshot T levels higher, but that male bodies produce and consume vastly more as well. Because of potassium issues and age, both my Spiro and Estradiol dosages were kept relatively low for most of that time. That led to serum E levels in the mid-200's and T levels in the mid-300's (actually close to the middle of the normal range for my age and higher than some people's starting point). Nonetheless, my libido tanked immediately.

My dosages have since changed. Serum E is about the same, T is now in the female normal range. Libido has been creeping back, but it feels very different.

It is difficult to say now what the hormones did or what is the result of other things like living as a woman (mental effect) or softening of the face (surgery, electrolysis) hair (again surgery and minoxidil and finasterid) weight loss or gains,

just cannot put it all on just the hormones. Either way what i have been doing seems to be working.

I put on like 7 pounds because of Tim Hortons ice cappuccinos.

Oh wait, on the hair front I just realized something.
I'm gonna be honest, and by honest I mean horrifyingly graphic.

My arse is still a dense forest, gnomes may or may not be taking up residence.
That's even after I got waxed last month!

Been on meds since this past October, and the soreness is pretty constant. Upon wake up gravity tugs at them and what an exquisite pain. Loss of body strength and mass, noticeable to me and body fat distribution is slowly taking place. A little new hair growth on the places being cleared for a new face, but not enough to record in photos. Still look like the butler in Rocky Horror. Had to stop my voice therapy, have had financial problems, but hope to get back soon. Was making some headway. All in all, I'm quite pleased with my progress, Life's fun if you allow it to be.
