View Full Version : Jury Duty

I had to report for jury duty today. (6th time in my memory, never been called)
My wife loaned me her Nook (her 'kit' bag). No WiFi access in the courthouse. 90 other civilians there. No access but my phone... but
I walked around all day in a crisp shirt, dress pants, gelled hair, earrings and a bright satin magenta bag. I got smiles and nods from folks who would not normally acknowledge me, and blind stares from 'manly men'. Women gave me smiles, "light" men gave me smiles. "Butch guys" looked right past me.
I don't care anymore. If someone has an issue with me, then *they* have an issue with *me*.

A very wise mentor of mine once told me: "Your opinion of me is none of my business. It's just not my garbage!"
Nice to know you are not accepting other peoples garbage. Good for you.

Ah, MM... :hugs: I have a friend who could almost be your brother, in appearance and from what I can tell, personality. Hes not afraid to be himself an tell it like he sees it either. He tends to bring out the best in people because he makes them think and gives them the courage to be themselves.

MM,
It's great to hear that you're still just being you... and you have every right to be so... :cheer:
Funny about 'butch guys'... I just equate that with stupidity and lack of understanding - never mind...
But as to Mr Pacino (unless you're talking about a local cab driver with a coincidental name...?) - Mr De Niro may be quite unhappy that one of his seminal roles has been credited to a contemporary rival, albeit a friendly one... ;)
Have fun!

Sounds like a good attitude if you want to get on with life. :)

I guess I liked that I was presenting as 'effiminate' in guy-mode and have it be so well received. It isn't always about heels and skirts (but sometimes it is!!) it is about being yourself.
It just felt nice. Thanks for the support! :)

Good for you! I just got a summons, and have to go on the 28th---and I am seriously considering going in 100% woman! It's in downtown Chicago, so heels and skirt are the norm! I'm looking forward to it.:)
