As a freelance Sound Goddess, I'm the one responsible for making rock concerts sound like they do. (Technically, Front of House Engineer)
Yesterday, for Canada's birthday, I was working an outdoor show in the main square of a nearby town. Long story short...my 7 a.m. load-in is hampered by the stage being in the wrong place! Then...the building we have been given access to for the massive amounts of electricity a rock concert needs was locked!
Next, and more to the point. The thunderstorm we were expecting came early, and it was all hands on deck to get the half finished stage under wraps.
I was literally soaked to the skin. A drowned rat, with dripping hair, runny makeup, and a squishy bra.
A girl from 'The Hair Company' across the square ran over, and told me to follow her. She wrapped me in a cape and threw my clothes in the dryer, gave me a complimentary blow dry and style, and let me use her washroom to make myself presentable enough not to scare the children.
There are really good people out there!
The sun came out, the temp. soared to the mid 90's, and some great bands gave their all to celebrate Canada Day.
