View Full Version : If they only knew...

While having coffee with several other retired seniors somehow the subject of separating colors doing laundry came up. I confessed that I toss everything into one washer and whatever comes out, comes out. One man opined that, if I threw in a red towel I might be wearing pink underwear. I pretended to be offended, raised my nose and replied ‘haughtily’: “I am NOT telling.” It brought the expected laugh.

If they only knew. Under my jeans I was wearing shocking pink shiny satin panties.

I have turned a pair of tighty whities pink before. These days I use a cold water wash, (unless for bedding, towels and the like) and I find I don't get colours bleeding into each other.

I have been saving a similar response for those rare occasions when interrogated on what kind of underwear I am wearing, you know, "Boxers or briefs?" I plan to say something like "Really! I don't wear such common things! I have on a rather sweet pink striped thong, if you must know!" Of course, I probably am.....

Appalling! As I acknowledge in another thread, I am very fussy, bordering on OCD, about my clothing and laundering practices. I would never consider mixing colors or fabrics that require different temps and wash cycles.

...if they only knew that I have never done my own laundry!

I'm lucky that my wife does all the laundry with the utmost care. Plus she treats my "things" with special care just as she treats her own!

I mix colors with whites, and use the cold setting.

However, if my wife buys something red, it will go in with the towels to be washed. Several times, until the newness gets washed out. New blue jeans are another bleeding culprit that need washing separately when new.

Ineke,

Let's just get this out of the way....yuck yuck sloppy sloppy girl! :heehee:

I too am bordering on the obsessive with colour separation which has been ingrained from my wife. she hangs washing according to colour and from light to dark (purple yellow purple is immediately punishable by death), type of clothing (shirts, t-shirts shall not inter mix) trousers, then towels etc etc.

Mind you, she enjoys ironing so that is her domain to enjoy.....thankfully!

I love to tell people how I got up in the middle of the night with my nightie all twisted. Everyone loves to laugh at this picture I conjure and various other scenarios ....if only they knew the truth. :daydreaming:

Nicely delivered, Ineke... :)

Or you could have just said that your studded, pink suede thong always requires specialist cleaning... at least, that's what it says on the label of mine... ;)

No - keep 'em guessing is the best tactic!

I wear pink and other silky things so often, that my wife always asks 'what color today?'
And luckily for me, she does the laundry.. but I wouldn't care if my white cotton man-undies suddenly turned pink...

Hi Ineke, I once ended up with light pink briefs and tee shirts once.

I was told by someone not to get my panties in a wad. They had no idea and they were not in a wad.

My OCD about laundry is well known. My neighbor came over one day when her dryer quit and used mine. As I removed my lingerie from it she began folding it for me. It led to an interesting discussion about what we each wore and how much we each had. I had way more and much more fem than what she wore.

speaking of laundry, I have many lacy thongs/bras that say hand wash only......... I machine wash on delicate/cold........ anyone else? I think I'm just too lazy to handwash all of my delicates.

The only things I wash separately are jeans and colours that run.

I haven't had a colour bleed issue in more than 4 years. Of course, I don’t buy jeans anymore, but I have bought some denim skirts lately. My SO does most of the washing lately, she is more OCD about the separating, difference is, she ends up changing her clothes more frequently, so there is more to wash. Only time I use warm or hot is for bedding or towels.
