View Full Version : If attitudes changed

What if all of a sudden the world in general and workplaces changed their attitudes towards TG folks and CDers to a more accepting one? How would you proceed job wise and generally? Even though I'm am currently retired, I would no doubt start my own private investigating business with Kate as it's main field operative. This has long been a dream of mine.( Mrs. Columbo? ) What do you think you would do?:battingeyelashes::)

Job wise it wouldn't change much for me. Women in my profession generally dress like the men, the uniform is the same more or less. I don't wear a uniform in my particular job, it's pretty casual. Now much would change. I couldn't wear heels to work though.

Life wise I would simply dump all my man stuff and live as a woman.

Fantasizing again, Kate...? :daydreaming:

Although I'm surprised at this part...

This has long been a dream of mine.( Mrs. Columbo? )
Somehow dreaming of being a somewhat short, frumpy, dishevelled, cigar-smoking female detective wouldn't be top of my list... ;)

Assuming there wouldn't be any more of us than currently, but presuming there would be a big demand from major corporations to ensure they embraced the right policies to attract and satisfy a freshly-public, uncloseted and much larger TG workforce - I would hawk myself around unashamedly as an experienced, mature and knowledgeable crossdressing consultant who could fit quite readily into their corporate culture, legitimize their employee policies at quite reasonable day rates and look very good doing it... :battingeyelashes:

And at the same time fulfil my long-term fantasy of just being soooo glam around the office AND get paid for being there... :cheer:

If only...

Hi,

Attitudes have changed,..... okay i spos the country where i am is more accepting of differences , though that could depend on the person in ? , so that would be the deciding factor , and how long it would take to be accepted , again depend on that person and the people and groups of people ,oh yes this includes Australia

no its not a pipe dream its real life with real people ,

Okay lets look at say 1500 people how many of those would could you say accept you and your differences, I dont think this is unresonable fact i think it would be quite fair .you have a very general over view of all walks of life,

So how say any of you here ,

Okay the number of people is in fact those im involved with and with in our different groups ,

Renaissance we have just over 1000 members in NZ, I know over 200 and some 70 from Australia,, Edwardian around 50 members and i know them all as well . Brass bands close on 100 members i know most of those as well, our Museum some 40 people most i know and i work with quite a few, and one more band Scottish some 35 members,

Now of cause this does not include the many other people i know as friends and those i see from day to day ,

So would you say from this i am well known , or just people put up with me as being a nut case off the beaten track or just plan weird ,

Well seems to me ....IF.....they did not wont me around them or to play music with them they sure would have told me where to go ,

Allright then lets see how long to be included with in those groups Edwardian about two meetings a month 3 months , Renaissance two meetings a year 3 years been with them now coming up 5 years, and 3 camps of a week each time,

Bands coming up 2 years one meeting a week and street march and other detail 4 meetings well i had to play so it was all on and they give me a hard time all taken in fun a lovely group .
It comes down to trust loyalty being there and comradship and for myself being different yet very well accepted, I put my self in a place of doing allways helping where i can ,

plus 3 groups said im on thier and now of cause our commitees , thats so much of a oh wow really , how neat is that ....you may not think so ....well whats acceptance is all about = joining in and being part of,

If attitudes changed and I could go to my workplace "en femme" . . . well technically I could now but choose not to as I like working as boy me (more pragmatic for what I do). I suppose if I was in a job where I had the option and clothing choice was beyond combat fatigues well I suppose like my life most of the days "boy me" would go to work but some days "girl me" would do so.

Start looking for unicorns and gold at the end of rainbows. En femme, of course. :)

Lauren . . . lol. But you might have to capture the cross dressing leprechaun to claim that gold.

Not quite! Some of us might remember the very short-lived spin-off with Kate Mulgrew.

Just for the record, Mrs. Columbo was played by Kate Mulgrew of Star Trek:Voyager fame. My look would be kind of like Natalie Zea as she portrayed her no nonsense character in the TV movie "Burden of Evil".:battingeyelashes::)

Stay with what I do now, but put in a leave request for sick, annual, and comp leave to take care of a couple of facial surgeries needed, and prepare for a whole lot a fun and excitement upon my return. Guess out of courtesy I would let my employer know I will look drastically different and to order some J. Quivers name tags. No use for the male ones anymore.:D Prepare for a big headache re-filling out my W2's, health insurance forms, etc.

I often find myself indulging in fantasies,,but try to slap them down and out of mind quicklyif wishes were horses...that sort of thing.

If everyone accepted,if I had the necessary resources and if the physiological risks were negligible, I would go all the way, HRT, SRS, FFS...but as long as we are wishing, I also want another 40 years to enjoy the results!

Hmmmm, you raise an interesting topic,

I'd still go to my workplace as a guy, as I get dirty and grimey there. I'd still live life as a guy and girl, but if society's attitude changed , well it would be so awesome and liberating to be able to express and go out more at will. One day, I'd wear my usual guy attire, and the next day doll up and go somewhere nice knowing I won't have my town chasing me with pitchforks and torches (maybe overemphasizing there, lol). It would be awesome though for sure.

Kate, I'd test out Obama's job. All that power, and Putin on speed dial (what fun telling him what I thought!)...well, I'd contemplate crossdressing myself :)

OMG!! I have been outed by the Mrs Columbo afficionados... I defer to your greater knowledge and happily admit to having no recollection of said TV series... :notworthy:

And Kate, while Kate Mulgrew might be a bit better than Peter Falk, I think you could play the fantasy card a little more boldly... What about Maddie Hayes (Cybill Shepherd) from 'Moonlighting'...? I could do that look... when Bruce Willis had hair and every woman had shoulder pads.... :)

I believe I would have some very prominent breast implants and butt implants. Along with permanent makeup. Hey, you said more accepting. Right? That's an envelope I'm dying to push to the limits.

Suddenly shops would increase sales of women's clothes and make MUCH more profit. And they are prevented from encouraging this trend by ... their own short-sightedness.

I would wear skirts everywhere, though not dresses. I think/hope attitudes will change, but perhaps barely in our lifetime sadly.

That would great, of course. But I wouldn't dress everyday. Probably fewer days per week, than more. My job requires me to be somewhat physical, and sometimes getting dirty (at least my hands anyways), so on days where I would need to perform tasks like that, I would probably just not dress.

It would still be awesome though, to wear whatever I wanted to work.

Kate at the moment I've come to a grinding halt in male mode ! Maybe it would give me the motivation to get things moving again, I would need to with the extra money needed to update my wardrobe !
If you've found the magic wand to make it happen ! What are you waiting for, just say those magic words !!!!

I'd continue what I'm doing work wise, however I would add alot more female clothing into the mix. Best of all worlds, wear what I want and still be me.
Doing the wig and make-up and everything else everyday would get old after a while. Just for the special days.

My job is what I know best, and how I can make the most money,
not really good for dressing like I prefer.

so for me, it would be the same old uniforms, but after work all would change.

The last little bit of male clothing I own would end up at Goodwill.

With my job being mostly non female related I would probably try to change profession and would love to dress feminine every day. I just wonder if some of the novelty would wear off and I would want to revert back to male mode at some time in the future.

If that ever happened, I would have to purge once and for all. Not that I have all that much to purge, I haven't bought much in the line of men's clothes for years.
Not sure if I would regret that purge, but I would love to find out!

I'm still waiting for my first therapy session related to my TG status, but right now if the world changed to be more accepting, I think I would switch straight away to living as a woman, starting HRT, etc. It's been kind of tidal, this need to switch, but having just spent the weekend dressed, I wish I could just be myself here at work.

I have a long road still, though.

What a wonderful world it would be...! I would want to dress full time and consider transitioning. I would have to get up earlier each morning for make up and hair, so that would a drag ( pardon the pun ). My workplace is very tolerant, has a GBLT bill of rights and an active GBLT committee to support and advise all staff regarding this. I am considering joining the committee. We are business attire during the week, so it would be dress pants, skirts, dresses and heals, business casual on weekends, so heels and dress pants or flats/sandals with skirt/skorts etc. how awesome would that be!?!? That being said, my SO would ditch me in a heart beat, so that kinda grinds things to a halt.

I'd be insanely happy to show up to work wearing a high heels, thigh highs w/garter, a skirt, appropriate blouse for a law firm, medium red curly wig... Every day! Well, not every day, I mean, I would want to wear dresses too but definitely I would be wearing some leggy things.... I still wear male underwear, but it's of the thong/jock variety. I am a CHL so, I'd like to be supported in the terrible instance it would be required.

I honestly just think I would walk in to work like that. The whole shabang. I mean, it will take me time to be able to act a little more womanly and lady like, but.... I often day dream about just being able to walk down the streets of Montrose during the day... Still a ways from that I feel...

If society became accepting of crossdressing, as in every member of it became accepting.......

I would stop thinking about what I am wearing and how it might offend someone. I would probably wear a skirt suit and heels to the office once or twice a week. Wear a dress socially half the time with out thinking about exactly where I was going.

Essentially, I would dress publicly more often without the inconvenience of considering others and trying in vain to blend in.

I think I'd probably start out by going to work in the MOST girly outfit I have. After work, I'd probably spend the money I have buying a new wardrobe and throwing out all my male clothes (or maybe burn them in a ceremonial pyre). Haha. Maybe I'd keep a couple of shirts and a pair of pants for fun. ;)

I would remain in IT and specialize in teaching girls the intricacies of computers.
Much as I do now. :)

WOW! In that Fantasyland I would not wear pants anymore. Just skirt suits or dresses. For casual days, more skirts and heels. Unfortunately there are not many women executives in my office job, and I keep envying the few there are for the nice skirts they are allowed to wear while we have boring male suits.

What a world would that be!
