Whoops ! A dayglow vest, must be a rail worker !!

For those who've read my previous "Outed" threads I guess you know what's coming !!
I'd been dressed all morning in a patterned summer skirt, mid blue Tshirt with bra and forms and heels. I had to take the dog for it's walk so I put a shirt and trousers over the top and removed the forms, pulled on my walking boots and almost forgot to wash the lipstick off and remove my earrings !
I should have known better in a working week but in my usual place I removed my top layer ! A train passed but no problem too many bushes to see much ! Then OMG an orange dayglow vest on the track and then another !! I kept walking hoping that I hadn't been seen ! Then a, " Good afternoon ," came from one of the workers, I had to turn and acknowledge, so I replied, " Nice day ! " The reply came back, " Nice day for a walk in your Sunday best....HO, HO,..HE, HE..," the rest then joined in ! I replied, " This is my every day ! You should see my Sunday best ! " Their reply was, " Promises,promises !!!

They've now renamed the track from a cross country route , to a crossdressing line !!

I always enjoy traveling by train and often would use overnight trains to get me to my next appointment. Once traveling on the night train from Oslo to Bergen in Norway, I had my own compartment and slept in a very pretty dusty rose coloured nightdress. As we neared Bergen, I was up preparing to get dressed when suddenly there was a knock on the door and the conductor opened it to tell me that we were approaching Bergen. I just thanked him.

I often wonder what he thought and how he might have relayed that story to his fellow workers.

Well, at least we give people lots to talk about and enliven their otherwise boring lives. HE HE! HO HO!

Are you allowed to walk along the track in the UK? I have a track near my home (in the U.S.) and was give a warning by the railroad police for crossing it at an unauthorized place. I was out walking/running, wearing earphones, and the poor guy had to chase me for about a block yelling "M'am! M'am!"

Consuelo thanks for sharing your story, they have a deep sense of humour in Norway but I think it would raised a smile ! Bergen is a lovely town I really enjoyed my trip there.

Persephone the railway runs along side fields, they leave a broad access for farmers, it's a beautiful area with so many wild flowers and varieties of grasses.

Walking on the railway is very dangerous, especially if you are distracted from the sounds of the outer world. There was recently a very sad death of a girl who was walking on the tracks with earphones plugged in. The engineer was braking as hard as he could and sounding the horn but she did not hear. Big freight trains in the US will take a long distance to come to a complete stand. In the UK you have lighter passenger trains but they are sometimes traveling at 125mph and again, it takes an great distance to stop.
Better to keep away and watch from a safe distance. Sadly many people are killed by collisions with trains at rail/road crossings because they do not take precautions. Some even try to beat the train, with disastrous consequences

Just to clarify, I was VERY careful crossing, first making sure there were no trains anywhere near. I'm a big railfan but I have no interest in becoming a part of the right-of-way nor the front end of a locomotive.

Consuelo the part I walk on is fenced off from the line and it also has a small drainage ditch so it's safe for man and beast ( Dog ) ! Somehow some cattle did manage to cross the line and had a great time eating the cereal crop !

Unfortunately we had a teenage boy from the village killed in the same way last year and an old guy in the next village was killed this year ! The odd thing is both accidents happened with the slower moving freight trains and not the higher speed commuters, maybe people think they have more time !!

For Bev and Blue Orchid, I fell for N guage modelling ( 2mm : ft. ) years ago, keep promising myself to dig it all out the loft. Because of the size you can get scale length trains in in a scenic setting with realistic curves. Painting and lining out locos now might be beyond my eyesight !!
