View Full Version : Not a purge, but a thinning.

Thrift Stores might be my friends, I'm still not sure about that. I am able to buy a lot of different looks for not very much money, but that means the closet gets more and more full all the time. Last week I was told that the local Pride Center has a "Wardrobe" room where T folks and others can go and pick out some clothing they need. Two birds with one stone! I get a little control over the over-packed closet and the community gets a bit more resource.

I was amazed at the number of things that no longer fit properly or were "just not me" any more, but I'd held on to anyway. I even was able to pack up some shoes, purses and a couple of bargain wigs that were not being used. There were even some guy things in the bags I took down, I was cleaning both sides of the closet. This isn't to get pats on my back for being generous, I got my reward in a cleaner closet and satisfaction from the donation. This is a suggestion to those of you who have collected more than you will ever use to consider something like this. If not a Pride or Trans support center, maybe a shelter where women are attempting to get the clothing they need to get back into the workplace.

Oh, and did I say that now I can see the holes in my wardrobe and know what I need to shop for?

My closet could use some thinning. I wonder if the TG resource center in Houston has a similar Wardrobe?

This thread moved me to try on one or two things I haven't worn in forever. There was one dress in particular that made me think "why in the **** did I buy that? It looks like a gunny sack." So I started a Goodwill bag. Thanks for the motivation.

I am constantly thinning out my wardrobe...i think its a healthy thing... it keeps things fresh ...i feel bad sometimes...but i tossed a pair of pink summer wedge sandals i bought..but i NEVER wore them..and its late august..i think it was a safe bet they were not getting worn...but kinda wished they went to someone who would appreciate them. I had an idea to throw a "Purge Party" where you get a bunch of gals together and everyone brings items which they were going to purge and the collection of items go on a table for others to sift through.

My wardrobe got thinned when I moved as I didn't pack it that well. Ended with a bunch of single boots and shoes that I might as well chuck away. I agree good to get rid of old stuff, that no longer fits.

Ohhh no! Well, at least there's one landfill that's a little bit prettier
than it used to be...lol

I wish there were a good place to post...i have some black size
12 I won't ever wear. Too pointy for me....

I'm waiting to be qualified to get to the classified section here...but
have no idea of what to expect there
