Saturday morning I got up and made breakfast for my wife and son. I was still in my nightgown which is no big deal anymore at our house. I made a lovely breakfast and we were at the table. I had toasted and buttered some bread for us. My son said he loved the toast. My wife said she didn't like how it got soggy in the middle. I looked at her and said, " You think you know somebody!" They both looked at me in my gown and cracked up. They were like really! I guess I deserved it. I did hide all this for 47 years until 18 months ago. It was a cute moment for all of us. I am so proud of my family and how we are facing my transition.

Such a cute story. Thank you for sharing. There is so much hate and bigotry in the world. It's great to hear a story from the more progressive end of the spectrum. It's amazing how high the hurdle is for acceptance, but how easy things are if people can overcome their fears and find a way to love.

So, why was it so soggy in the middle? Too much butter in one place? You know that nightgown also carries some family duty obligations, like getting the toast right! Cute story for a great family.

Were you using REAL BUTTER???? .... or, margarine or one of those "Hot-damn, it's almost butter!" products? All - except for REAL BUTT
ER - have some water-y component that can, possibly, soak in to the toast for that "soggy" texture.
My Dad (a dairyman, all his life) would NEVER TOUCH anything except real butter......
Suzanne, I'm happy to hear how well your family is adjusting, now you have to adjust your toast buttering in response!!

Having life normalize with your family is fulfilling to say the least. Keep them as a prime focus.
