I have a lovely, quality jacquard dress that I seldom put on because a. it's a bit of a hassle with the back zip and b. although it almost fits me (bought from Long Tall Sally) it's just that tantalisingly tiny bit too short in the bodice. I think it might really suit Anne, and it really should be shown in public at some point, but I'm not sure how it'll be received if I suggest she try it on, does anyone have any experience and/ or insight into this?

One time I got a new skirt and the first one to wear it in public was my (now ex-) wife. No, the dressing was not even a factor in the divorce.

It depends in large part whether or not she knows about your dressing. If she does, then it sounds easy. Just tell her the truth. "Honey, you would look great in this. Try it on." If she doesn't know, that's a bit tougher. Maybe you could give it to her as a present, but it might seem weird.

Hi Brenda, All though we are a DA/DT couple sometimes I will offer something to my wife and she will wear it, other times not.

My SO it totally open with me and CD...but she is more or less the guy and I'm more or less the gal.
She has two dresses she doesn't wear....I have 20+ I love and wear all over.....the house.
Nope, unless it's cotton and a dark color.....she isn't interested..

Brenda, you could always suggest it. Won't hurt to ask!
My fiancee has borrowed some of Amy's clothes on occasion, in particular, one or two of her cardigans. She, in turn, has passed along to me some things she didn't wear anymore, like some nice tops...she says I look better in V-necks than she does. :)

Would be very good to share or swap clothes once in a while.

My wife has known about my dressing for years and sometimes sees new clothes I get and tries them on (as she is a similar size to me). If she likes it then she will use it as she wants and I use it any other time. Dresses are her favourite thing to borrow (or take on a almost permanent basis) as I do not have many or wear them outside the house - so at least that way they get more use which I am happy with. If something does not fit she has been known to ask where I got it and then go look for a smaller size version if there are any available.
I guess my point is, if you are able to be open with your wife then do so and tell her you think the dress may look good on her or suit her. Let her decide if she is comfortable wearing something which was once yours or not - but I suspect you two would be the only people who would know that last detail....

There's a motto in our house - "First up, best dressed!"

If she doesn't know about your dressing, I wouldn't suggest it.
If it does, why don't you pick out a place to go and suggest that she wear it? My wife and I were going out to dinner last week and I suggested that she wear one of the new tops we picked out for me. She wore it and looked good in it. I was just waiting for someone to praise it and for her to say "Oh, it's not mine, it's Homer's" (not my real name).

My wife doesn't know about my dressing but I buy her dresses fairly often, birthdays and such. She's kind of thrifty and doesn't like to spend a lot on a nice dress that will only be worn once and a while, so I buy them for her. The first time I did it she was very surprised but loved the dress and I took her out so she could wear it. It's kind of a tradition now and she doesn't think twice about it. So I say have try it on and just say you bought for her.
