Welcome Carla...been on HRT for 8 months now...just hang on and enjoy the ride. It gets wonderfully crazy sometimes, but I wouldn't change a thing.

Carla, I too have had my blood work done and am in possession of the, "Informed Consent Forms." In less than three weeks I meet with my doctor to review the blood work results and go over the paperwork. If all goes well, I should have a prescription that day. I am very nervous about this because of the people around me who will be hurt. I too, will suffer greatly if I lose them.
Having said all that, please keep us posted with respect to the ongoing progress of your journey.

Great news Carla, just one word of advice: When you get the hormones from the pharmacy, try not to let your grin swallow you whole like the Cheshire cat

And try to at least make it to the parking lot as aggressively popping pills at the register is frowned upon. :D

Hold on tight and enjoy the ride!
I am on month 5 now, and NEVER been happier before...
Just a little bit of advice, be very cautious when consuming alcohol... I am not a big drinker, but still get caught off guard a lot. Its not like it was pre hrt.

Congratulations. You've spent a long time getting to this point. You've been through heartache and struggles. You've been through counseling and examined your own life. You've had to take many courageous actions, overcoming fear that can sometimes be crippling. You've made changes to your appearance, addressed your facial hair, and spent a fair amount on new clothes. Maybe you've already started working as a girl as well.
Hormones is a huge and wonderful new step. There will be wonderful days when you can't wait to get up in the morning, and there will be mornings when you wish you didn't have to get up so damn early to put on your make-up. As your breasts come in, other things will shrink. Even what feels good will change. As you begin to see more and more of these changes, there will be moments when it doesn't seem real. You've wanted it for so long and for so long you didn't think it was possible, and here you are with breasts, a body you like to see in the mirror, and a sense of freedom you've never had before. The more your body agrees with your mind, with who you know yourself to be, more happy you feel.
You find yourself getting emotional, crying - loudly - during a movie or TV show. You read books that make you cry. You are more open emotionally. You are more interested in other people, more caring and compassionate than ever before.
Not all of this is hormones, but much of it is because you are now comfortable with letting your true self be known to the world, and the more they like you, love you, and accept you, the more you are able to like, love, and accept them.
Don't get freaked out if you don't end up with 38 D breasts a month from now. You are going through puberty, exactly the same way a young girl would. You want to wear bigger bras and get rid of the breast forms, but you also need time to grow, and not just your breasts. Your skin is softer, your voice seems lighter. You have a harder time lifting things with your arms. You find that you can't eat as much or you'll gain weight, but you also find that you aren't as hungry. You start ordering the crispy salad over the big juicy steak - because you want it. The thought of a yummy salad - and an hourglass figure, just seems so much more wonderful than the steak and potatoes with the beer belly.
The one thing that will make you stop and think once in a while, is that there is no going back once your breasts grow to a certain point. You won't be able to go out in public and pass as a guy anymore. Then you smile to yourself and think "Yeah, isn't it great!" and finish getting ready for another wonderful day of freedom.

How do you mean? I'm not much of a drinker either but I haven't noticed any differance when I do. What are you noticing?

It is known that drinking alcohol and taking hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can increase breast cancer risk.
Alcohol can impair the functions of the hormone-releasing glands and of the target tissues, thereby causing serious medical consequences. Hormones control four major areas of body function: production, utilization, and storage of energy; reproduction; maintenance of the internal environment (e.g., blood pressure and bone mass); and growth and development.
By interfering with hormone actions, alcohol can alter blood sugar levels and exacerbate or cause diabetes, impair reproductive functions, and interfere with calcium metabolism and bone structure, increasing the risk of osteoporosis. Conversely, hormones also may affect alcohol consumption by influencing alcohol-seeking behavior.

To Jenessa:
I can now only drink a fraction of what i could before... get tipsy MUCH faster, and the day i do go slightly overboad, i suffer really badly for a day or two afterwards. ( gets difficult to judge how much is too much, as i am still used to things like they were before)
I have looked into this and it seems quite common with many taking mtf hrt's.
Not sure if it is a reaction to the meds themselves, or the changes in body chemistry.
