I wonder is Transgenderism is a human trait or is it found in the wild. I have two boy cats (Buddy and Tiger)which are brothers. Both are fixed but one has the wide bottom (Tiger) like most male cats. His brother (Buddy) on the other hand is smaller and slimer. Also our older girl cat (Sally) is kinder to Buddy than she is to Tiger. Also Tiger will sometimes get on top of Buddy and hold him down while biting him on the neck. Kinda like when a male will hold a female who is in heat. Also where as TIger will sprall out or lay on his back, Buddy tends to be more dainty in how he lays.

I wonder if I have a gay cat or a Transgender Cat. LOL

Snap! We often remark at the difference in our feline brothers Marley and Dylan. But the "girly" one is a demon and scares the butch one ..itless! lol
Vive la difference!
But just let 'em dare touch my underwear drawer:angry:

Well, we have easy visual clues between genders, including ones we add ourselves; cats don't have that, at least, not to our eyes.
As to sexuality, you have castrated cats, so compare castrated humans to normal humans. It doesn't make them gay or transgender, just... castrated lol.

It'd be rather hard for an animal to be transgendered, but possible I suppose in terms of behavior, like nest building. There are quite a few gay animals though. Whether they know this no one is sure, but they don't get jeered at by other animals.

Oh, yeah, what IS it with cats and the wardrobe? If we leave the door 2 nanometres open they crawl in and go to sleep. I have loads of ruined clothes due to the pawing thing they do. Grrr.

Joann great thread, from what i have seen in the animal world transgendering is a natural thing, It's only humans that put a label on it. They don't have to stay within the rules people put on each other. So who's the dumb animal?
Once again Mother Nature is teaching a lesson and we aren't paying attention. The other thing is that the Male is rarely the dominate or the most Colorful. He is there for one reason only!
I think I've been watching too much Animal Planet!
O well back to Julie Yorks red shoes Aren't they Great!

This link is interesting: http://news-service.stanford.edu/news/2003/february19/aaassocialselection219.html, go to the part where it talks about animals switching gender.
