So apparently I am in a pink frog*. In fact I don't think I've emerged from the pink frog since the day I first put on a pair of women's panties, when I was in my early teens, and that delightful sense of well-being and sensuality first washed over me.

Never once have I been made to feel uncomfortable, or encountered anything other than professionalism and courtesy, whether in a small boutique or a department store. I'm sure most of them guess I'm buying for me, because of sizing, the fact that I never buy bras, and because of my knowledge of brands and fabrics, and obvious love of the subject. So to any of you perhaps plucking up the courage for the first time, don't worry- they want to help you spend money and many of them love the things they sell as much as you do.

*they spell it differently here in France

Hi Nikki, I know the feeling about the PINK FOG, I have been looking at the world through rose colored glasses for almost 68yrs

Are you referring to grenouille rose or a brouillard rose?

Nikki - they probably just accept you as some weird Anglo-Saxon that confirms everything the French have thought about us for centuries... but it's nice that you can go shopping, be served well and have a good time about it... :cheer:

Now - as for Pink Frog...

Yesterday I decided I needed some finishing touches on my Halloween outfit and decided to hit the local mall. I was looking for opaque nude tights..no one sells these at all! Anyway in frustration I went over to the local Lane Bryant store and there was only one person shopping and two SA's. After about 5 minutes of browsing I could tell that they did not have my tights but OMG they have some really nice panties and lingerie! Well I got up my nerve and when the SA asked if "she" needed a certain size I said they were for me. This gal didn't even flinch. She was so professional! I grabbed three pairs of panties in my size and then she asked me if I needed any bras! We looked and grabbed a few that I liked and she escorted me to a dressing room where I could try them on. None of them really fit right and she offered to go into the back to find something else. When she came back I decided that I did not need a $50 bra right now being unemployed but I bought the panties. 3 for $33. This is the first time that I outed myself to a SA. The experience was so liberating. They want the sale...they don't really care if it's for you. I am really excited about my next shopping trip for lingerie. This is gonna be fun!

Ha ha ha! Sorry. I'll get back after I can control myself! I'll probably see pink frog's in my dreams---French one's, of course!

Hmmm!
I have never tried pink frogs legs.
They must sell them at Disneyland over there.

I have to shop online. I honestly think I'd pass out in a lingerie shop. #pinkcoma

Before the mods delete me, let me translate...
grenouille rose = pink frog
brouillard rose = pink fog

Thanks, Kim. The French word for fog is NOT frog. Glad you had a good time shopping for frogs or whatever, though.

I love Soma bras. And have had good experiences at their shops.
But last time I went, I went with a list of items I had picked out from their online catalog. I was prepared to spend a couple hundred dollars on these times.
I don't don't know if she was having a bad time of month or she just hated cross dressers, but the SA I got started out snarky and then when I asked her to find a different size while I was in the dressing room, I could hear her loudly telling the other SA that she "wasn't going back there with that guy". I took off what I was trying on, got dressed, and piled everything in my hands and walked out to the counter and put it all in a pile and told the other SA that they had just blown a two hundred dollar sale and walked out.
I have gone to many many lingerie stores and Depts. and have always been treated with respect, except for this one time.

The Macy women's department at Woodland mall in Grand Rapids was NOT welcoming at all. The sales woman wanted a male sales associate to shadow me. I was per selecting merchants for DRAB to FABulous. That is our spring convention. I never went back to that store in fem or in guy. And I did not take twenty girls in with me either!

But this is an exception and I just do not care.

If a small cloudburst rains on my parade I just let it pass because the sunshine is minutes away. Even a hurricane passes after a while and life goes back to normal.

So I am going to have fun and not let anyone interfere.

Get OUT! Have FUN! Because it is a state of mind, not of circumstance.

Wendy, the same thing happened to me at Kolh's. I have never returned to any of their stores, for anything. I have never been treated so bad out shopping before.....and I am old, so I have been in many stores over the years.

Like Nikki says.....most SA's treat the buying public great. Being rude to me anymore gets a response of...am I bothering you ? Is my money spendable here ? Do we need to get the manager to handle my transaction ?

That IS Kermit. Yes, he's a crossdresser.

A pink frog would be Kermit and Piggy's kid I think. :battingeyelashes::)

I've definitely been in the pink fog myself since getting back into dressing. I just got back from Montana and had a surprisingly pleasant experience shopping for shoes and panties there. At the shoe shop I nervously walked up with my 3 pairs of heels and the girl at the counter gave me a raised eye brow at first but then said "Good choices!". For the panties there were young men at the counter so I used the "for my wife" line. I found that the pink fog for me is created by wanting to re-start my wardrobe and getting fixated on certain types of clothing, instead of going for a broader approach, which means multiple trips in order to have a balanced closet. Hopefully I can continue to moderate myself!!
