Hey all... so here it is one and a half months taking estrogen... I have read so many accounts of quick results, and euphoria afterwards, and here I am with nothing but extra sensitive nipples, its kind of disappointing. I know, I know, not everybody is the same and many women are on HRT for years and see very few results if any. Oh well I guess I'' keep on trudging through life with my very masculine self.

What did you expect to get in 6 weeks?

Well, the older we get ,I think it takes longer for the girls to get fully mobile. It depends on body chemistry, genes and god knows what else. The main thing to me is to keep positive and not get down on yourself ...it will happen.I've been on hormones for 19 months now and it's been a slow process. There is definite progress so I'm pretty pleased.State of mind is everything.JMHO.

Normally, a reputable doctor will start with a lower dose of estro and spiro and gradually work you up based on your bloodwork. Too much estrogen can cause blood clots, which can cause heart attacks and strokes. Too much Spiro can cause too low heart rate and too low blood pressure.
There are some less reputable doctors who will do massive doses of shots as well as patch and oral, but for the reasons described above, it's very dangerous. This is why it's not a good idea to "self medicate" as well.
You mentioned Estrogen, are you also taking a T-Blocker?
The sensitive nipples are a very good sign. The bad news is that because you are older, your breasts will grow more slowly than those of a teenager. The good news is that if you're patient, they will keep growing over time. It took me almost a year to fill a B-cup, and another year to fill a C-cup, now I'm a 38-D with no top work.
You've waited a few decades to transition, give yourself the time to gradually transition and see what you get.
We live in a freeze-dried instant microwavable world where we can get almost anything we want within a day or two. However, some things, like growing trees and breasts, take time. Unless you are already living full time, you probably need some of this time to prepare the people at work and any other areas of your life - for the changes to come. By this time next year, hiding it will not be an option, and it would take surgery to make your chest look male-ish again.
Meanwhile, focus on any unfinished business. Laser, electrolysis, and diet to get the figure you want below. It can be very frustrating to look in the mirror and realize you have nice breasts, that are dwarfed by a belly that makes you look 36 months pregnant.
Enjoy the ride.

Patience is going to be a virtue. It will help to learn it now because there are a lot of things you will be waiting for.

Check around the tail bone. Your tail might be starting to grow a little. That starts to happen around 1.5 months.

For some who report an almost immediate change I think of this as the "placebo effect". The emotions that go with taking HRT are so deep and powerful that the simple act of swallowing a pill becomes a mystical experience for some and a disappoint for others when they do not "feel different"
Transitioning takes time and you will need all of it. There are hundreds of things you will need to do and most are extremely tedious and boring. Document change is an example made even more fun if you have dual citizenship with a backward country (which will remain nameless), who think they are enlightened (stupid frogs)
it's kinda of cool to take a picture a week of your face/body when you first start and compare after months have past.
You may want to keep a journal of your thoughts and emotions. It helped me understand (keep track of) myself and the changes.
I still journal and it has been an important tool for personal growth in a positive direction.
I have never been in war but the stories of how it is endless boredom with moments of utter terror is a little bit like transitioning where nothing much happens and than suddenly you are all over the place emotionally.
Intensity mixed in with nothingness. Peaks and valleys with flat in-between and usually it is others somehow being influences in the making of peaks and valleys.
You do not transition in a vacuum and I have found it is how others touch the process that can make it a much harder or easier path to walk.
Remember "Patience is a virtue"

We all take it different ways.
I started getting boob growth pain within 2.5-3 weeks, they've grown quite a bit in the last 6.5 months but I've had little to no facial feature softening or fat redistribution.
HRT Is like a lottery :P
...I know, I know, not everybody is the same ...
You can take every last one of those spectacular early results stories as what they are ... fantasy. Tissue doesn't grow that fast, no matter how active your estrogen receptors might be. I have had relatively good results, especially for my age, and at 1.5 months had nothing (and didn't expect anything). Little at 6 months other than early budding, Not much at 12. More at 18. Etc.

I dunno, I felt boob growing pains fairly quickly.
I'm not crazy either, I have a letter to prove it ;)
I was referring to growth, not sensation.

I wasn't truly expecting miraculous results, but there is always that secret hope. The doc said no blocker it's reasonably low anyway, and the e will prevent the T over time.
