View Full Version : Where all the young CDers at!

Mink

yo!

(mtv raps?)

I realize asking HERE isn't the best idea because if I don't really know how would anybody!

not that i'm super young...

but the late teens / early girly 20s-ish to mid to late 20s Crossdressers

I assume most are on... Tumblr...? ... Reddit?

I guess!

maybe straight up old-timey message boards are more a thing of the past!

and MAYBE (just maybe!) it is no longer "cool" to be thought of as a "Crossdresser"

what with all the genderqueer / non-conforming / non-binary / etc / etc / etc etc (etc!)

I guess what i'm getting at is the idea that so many older people here think "oh if only the internet existed back when I started!"

and while it is mostly good I don't think young folks today are getting nearly as much out of it as you may think you would have or would go about it?

I also fear it may be pushing things into un-reality for some that get almost peer-pressured into thinking was being TG is or what they have to do...

such as someone who has a real feminine fetish / almost sissy or degrading stereotype view of a woman and want to be a pretty girl and think oh well I should just get on hormones ASAP!

when they're really just super confused / repressed / in fantasy land!

not all I mean, but some...

I could point to a myriad of tumblrs or bloggies or TG Captions and THAT whole sub-cultura!

anywho enough of my random rambling and mystical musings!

let's DO this!

Actually, if you pay attention there are a fairly large number of young CDrs here. Your presumptions are mistaken.

The under 30 crowd has been shrinking lately, it seams that only the regular posters remain. It is very obvious that currently at least 80% of posters here are almost twice my age.

Yea I wish more of us would post!! I'll admit I do a lot of reading but not always posting. I personally only dress up 1-2 times a month so I don't have a lot of updates haha!

I guess it depends on what you're looking for? With a topic as complicated as CDing, it helps to have experience available. At the same time, there's value in the shared experience of peers your same age.

And I couldn't agree more with the Tumblr comments. All I ever see on there are "adult entertainment" gifs and hypnosis captions. Maybe we're both just looking in the wrong places?

I'm a bit older, but my demographic seems pretty tricky to find sometimes too, mid 30's, married, parent with a young child. A lot of the time, I feel sort of stuck in the between younger, unattached types and the been there, done that, older crowd.

Many forums are like that. Younger people are on Facebook, Twitter, and a few other social sites. They also just text, and communicate in single sentences. They also are too busy working to be posting on here.

Martina
11-07-2014, 12:57 AM
I'm one of the older ladies @ 69 and I don't think that I'm cranky just yet maybe a little strange to other people to want to dress in womans clothes.
I found out at 32 that it felt good to put on a pair of stocking and a dress, so here I am and just enjoy being who I am.
Yes it would have been good to have the internet back in those days for us older CDers to have found out where this was taking us.

I know they have a section for younger cd's...dont know how active it is, I am past the age limit for it but would LOVE to see it.. They are here, but like me can probably not relate or offer any advice or input into the many S/O pity parties, and wife issues that dominate the forum.
Re-edit is ok.....lotta pictures though...LOTTA younger gals there
and facebook is.....well its facebook.....its loaded with closet queens.

I've read very many posts that say that they dressed a little in their teens, then it went away or was buried until their 30s or 40s. Maybe that's a contributing cause. I mean, first you'd have to accept it before you look for help or advice. I lurked here for a year before I signed up.

Interesting question. One thought is that younger people tend to use mobile apps more than traditional web sites like this one. Or, it could be that younger people are more comfortable with gender variance and simply living their lives in the open. I'm sure, however, that there are many who are restricted, conflicted or confused like many of us and perhaps they will eventually find their way here.

Looking back over my life I think I would have been less active in my teenage years and early twenties as so much was going on in life at that age. On the other hand that is precisely the age at which I may have benefitted from the experience of the more "experienced" members of this site.

I'm 25, and while i do love this forum, i do have to agree that many of the topics i find it hard to relate to. I don't have to hide my cding from my SO, i go out frequently dressed up, have no problem shopping, and am not confused by dressing up.

One thing your post does illustrate is how the times are a'changin.

The internet, attitudes and tchnology also.

The younger CDers are here and there used to be a group for under 35's to hang out there.
Maybe it still is.

I had zero communication with other CDs until I got my first phone modem. That was around 1996 and I was already in my 40s. Oh, and SO/wife threads aren't of much interest to me either. That would change if I ever get into another relationship.

Another "young" girl here (i'm 27). Our "inactivity" has to do mainly with the age gaps and issues that pertain certain generations we can't completely relate to. I mean, in some cases not even "clothing chat" can get us closer. Either way, I'm sometimes more inclined to learn from others and take advice when it applies. What I love about this forum though is the level of intimacy one can achieve with other members no matter the age. I have had chats with some members here about their lives experiences that have helped me grow in aspects beyond crossdressing.

While the reddit/tumblr communities might offer a more "younger" perspective, it seems to be usually affected by the "teenage" personalities.. It feels kinda more superficial and less intimate. More about instant gratification instead of a learning experience. I must admit though that I haven't really dwelved much through those sites so I could be totally wrong.

Hey! I agree that there exists a difference intrests and experiences resulting from age. But at least in my case, I don't have a whole lot to say. I do read the forum weekly though, and it has had a supreamly positive effect on me. It's nice knowing your not alone, and that if I have a question, or experience I have people to share it with.

People continually think I'm in my mid 20's, does that count? :)

(actually.. I'm older than that.... pm if you want to hazard a guess :)

My belief is that the younger people aren't posting as much in traditional message boards because really, many people in their teens/20's don't really have a problem with non-traditional lifestyles, in most places & situations (at least here in the usa... I'm not so sure about other more conservative countries.) so they can openly be themselves on the various social media sites, without too many worries or problems, except from the haters, but those can be dealt with if one has a strong enough support network :)

binair10
11-10-2014, 08:32 AM
It could be that many of the young generation are more with the cross dressing aspect. From what I have seen and heard, many GGs in their teens and early 20s want to Girlyfi their boyfriends. Perhaps that is what society is like nowadays. Not like when many of us were starting out in the 50s/60s and 70s. I was kept very quiet then.

I'm in my early, early 20s. I don't post much here too much because I am less serious about my dressing than most people on these forums. Every once in a while there will be something I can contribute on, or I will have an opportunity to dress (but that happens rarely).

It is still nice to browse these forums, seeing people do an activity I also enjoy and generally having a good time. It is nice and refreshing.

Maybe they are out livin the life, not constrained to the closet, by family, employer, or their own unrealistic passing standards, like me:Angry3:. Also for the record 30, 31, and 32 does not classify as old!!!, Unless while at those ages most of your dressing time is spent with ways to disguise/hide wrinkles!!!

I'm in my mid 30's and I'm for the time noticing wrinkles that need to be hidden, it's the worst. I guess I'm old now. Don't think I would have noticed them yet either if I wasn't doing makeup and having to look closely at my eyes. I think I would have fit in better culturally if I was about 5-10 years younger, my wife is 5 years younger, her sister is 7 years younger and them and their similarly aged friends are my main social circle these days; all my slightly older male co-workers and my older brother and his friends just don't get me at all. Pretty much everyone I'm out to is least 5 years younger than me.

I feel the same way Mia. I have been other places, and I haven't found one that feels as safe and welcoming as here. A lot of them seem too sexual, or veer towards the whole fetish area.

I would like to applaud all my younger sisters. Being over 50 (was that my outside voice???) Its been a long road. Attitudes are changing, and the fact that the general public at least acknowledges that we are here, is a great step. All of you are the torch bearers that will move us forward to a day when we will be accepted as more than just a side joke. (haha dude in a dress). Were not there yet by any means, but we are on the way......

I'm 22 and have been on the forum almost a year. I love the insights and advice the older ladies here have, but would love a more active 18-30 group to talk with and swap photos. I find my more youthful style of dressing doesn't allow me to connect as well with the older ladies. If anyone here ever wants to talk or swap photos please private message me, I have been trying to spend more time on this site embracing my true side and it's always nice to have someone to talk to

I'm 26 and from time to time giving insight here and there. O think the different issues are the issue. A lot of the time it's hard to relate especially with the SO stuff, cuz I don't have one. I try though to give input when plausible.

As someone who has recently turned 19 and am on the likes of Tumblr I am still drawn to the forum format as there is little regard to how long one writes. Considering that crossdressing is inherently complex no redacted or predominantly visual format would suffice.

I'm 28. When I decided to finally get to the bottom of my gender issues, I came back here first. This had been my home for years on and off but I never quite got what I was looking for. A few weeks after returning, I still wasn't getting it. I still show up around here now and then out of habit but I've moved on to a much smaller more personal place that better reflects my specific needs. Honestly, much as this place helped me early on, I think it may have also helped encourage me to keep on denying I was transgender. Years ago I desperately wanted to hear that I was still a regular cisgender guy and this place told me what I wanted to hear. There is one benefit thought in that I can go back and re-read things I was saying five years ago and realize that I was describing the same thing all along.

I'm 36, but if you count all the time that my femme side has been on hiatus, then in Vicki years I'm still in my 20s. ;) LOL

Glad there are some many younger folks on the board. I used to post from 19 through about 24 and remember being the only regular in my age group. I did benefit from the "mature" ladies on the boards, but it would have been nice to have had someone that was going through the same experiences in real time to relate to. I ended up making good friends with some of the early 30 crowd that extended off the boards, and it was great to have that community.

Young CD REPRESENT!

I'm 28 in aboooout 8 hours, ha!

Tumblr is most certainly an interesting little universe, but I've yet to actually sign up and begin posting
because it feels (ironically) so impersonal. I much prefer the open forum format, which is why I just signed up here.

Very very keen to chat with other young CD's, as I feel we're certainly living in a completely different world;
the internet to culture is like Batman to Gotham - his creation CHANGED things, now all the fun weirdos can come out a little easier ;)

While I'm immensely curious about older CD's life experiences, I'm so excited to talk with other people my age going through
similar things!

Just turned 53.

Although I prefer my dresses & skirts about an inch or two above the knee, occasionally I'll want to wear a really short (and tight) one that doesn't allow me to bend over very far. My wife is mostly DA-DT, but when she does talk about my CD'ing she gently reminds me that women our age don't wear those types of clothes!

Ages 18-30!

the fact I turned 30 last june meant I only would have had about 6 months left being allowed in there anyways...

maybe it's for the best?

I'm sorry to see the young member section go, it used to be a very fun place and I wanted to hang out there more than anywhere else around here but you can't get very far talking to the walls on a forum. I tried to do my part but I have largely moved on from this place in general. I haven't posted at all in over a month until now. Fitting timing I suppose...

I stand by what I said back in November though, I've found my home elsewhere.

Well I know I'm older but feel like a 25 year old when I dress. Dressing just makes me feel so much younger. I don't know if any one else feels this way.

34 here. I think a lot of it may be that younger CD's may still be trying to establish a career and may have less time and/or budget, or haven't accepted that aspect of themselves enough yet to discuss it with others.

We needed money so we sold all the young CDers. ;)

21 here, but only recently signed up. I've always used forums as a way to look for tips and advice, but everyone seems stuck on pinterest or facebook.

Scarlet do you mean IRL or other sites aside from this one?

Mixture of both IRL and online. Facebook and Pinterest as you said have been great. Also met some amazing people through my blog.

also if lack of activity was the criteria for deleting the young person area then I can think of a few sub-forums on here that should also get the boot!

I won't name any names!

Young CD here, although I haven't been here for long at all.
I needed to increase my post count to get access to the young CD section and now it's being taken away :(

One of my main concerns at the minute is that I want to be able to make a real go at passing before I'm passed my peak looks wise but being at home makes it impossible. It's horrible seeing time slowly slip away and know I probably have three years left to try and present as a young woman and it's being wasted in the closet.

Nail on the head.
I'm in the exact same situation and it's very disheartening, but what can a girl do?

I'm just spending time learning as much as I can from these forums so when I get the chance I'm ready to jump in at the deep end. I'm 23 not and have given myself until I'm 27 to start dressing in public, luckily I look young so should get a few extra years out of it. I'm hoping to jump back into education next year and if I do I will be moving away from home and hopefully have the space to start to developing Rhian again. If not I'm going to start booking little weekends away where I can spend time in girl mode and practice things like make-up.

i'm 28, still figuring it all, but if hanging out here means i can look half as good as many of you then it'll be well worth it. Its gonna be difficult for me cause i have that neanderthal forehead thing going on ugh!

I only wish that I had discovered how much I like to cross dress when I was your age! I still love it so but now I'm old. :)
