Just wonder what the crossdressers here think is their dream job. Please indicate if you are closeted or out and if you would expect or plan to go to that job dressed. Please also indicate if you are out full-time, thanks.
I'll reveal mine later, I don't want to influence the responses. You could put down more than one.

I think that Vanna White has the best job in the world. Pointing out those letters on Wheel of Fortune is hardly a stressful occupation, and the job was made even easier years ago when they went all electronic with those monitors, so now she doesn't even have to turn the former letter blocks around manually anymore.

Not only does this gig provide Vanna with great job security considering that she's been doing the same thing for decades, but she also gets to wear amazing clothes. What crossdresser wouldn't love a job like that, which is all about parading around in gorgeous gowns and heels on a daily basis after having had your make up done professionally, and with your main purpose in life being just to look beautiful while an adoring audience goes "ooh!" and "ahh!".

Works for me! ;)

I agree with leslie vis a vis vanna white
other than that a saleslady in an upscale women's clothing shop would be heavenly

Make Up Counter girl definitely dressed. Although I do rather like my job as a teacher as well (I only dream that I could dress at work now). I'm out to my wife but no-one else.

Dream job, right...? :)

As in: fantasy dream... imagine... doesn't have to be really, really possible...?

I'd be Prime Minister of the UK... following in the footsteps of dear Lady Thatch but just updating the fashion a touch (handbags OUT! - Louis Vuitton backpacks IN!... Twinsets OUT! - LBD and Jimmy Choos IN! :D)

Obviously trans* rights and discrimination would be high on the agenda - Dress Down Fridays would be banned... It'd be either GLAM or CROSSDRESS FRIDAYS (fines for corporate non-compliance)... ;)

Can you imagine how offended the French would be at EU premier meetings...?

My imagination could run riot if I carried on... best I stop now...

And yes - I'd have to dress AND de-closet... but it'd be worth it... :yahoo:

Nearly any job where I would be viewed as the expert in my field; the company would be thankful to have me on board, and therefore grant any privilege I requested.

I'd work the hours and days I choose, from wherever I choose, and dress how I choose.

Of course that would be the dream job for nearly any circumstance, wouldn't it?

Best wishes
MsVal

Can we honestly put "dream" and "job" in the same sentence? Most anyone dreams of the day they no longer need to work. But if I have to keep working, my dream would to just be accepted for who I am and compensated well for the work I do.

I would tend to agree with Leslie's choice of Vanna White's job. Of course, I don't know all that's involved in her job. Otherwise, I would go with "retired with good retirement package". :)

My first dream job would be to make a lot of money trading stocks full time, which I could do from the privacy of my home. This would allow me to live nearly full time as a woman.

I am now an accountant, and it would be great to find an accounting job where I could be dressed en femme at work.

Right now I have told very few people. These days outside of work I tend to mostly be dressed en femme, when out in public.

The best job for a CD is any job you're retired from. I have all the time in the world to CD now. (ha! ha! just kidding, retirees know about this one) They actually pay me to stay away from work now. They would have saved a bundle if they'd done it a lot sooner.

I work as a consultant for a big computer company. I go out to client sites far a month or two, then work from home for a few months.

This made it much easier to dress, not have to worry about a friend seeing me (even other people on my team didn't recognize Debbie as being Rex).

When on the road I would often stay for 2-3 weeks at a time, making it even easier to rack up a boatload of Real Life Experience hours.

When I decided to transition, it happened almost too quickly. I hadn't done the legal name change, so I did a gig as "Rexxie" until I could do the paperwork. Now I'm Debbie at work and elsewhere. By the next engagement, there will be no memory or markers of Rex other than a few co-workers who remember me. I did have to change the CV a bit. I have kept the two linked because I didn't want to mess up credit history or engagement history. Ironically, the biggest problems I've had are loyalty programs - some don't want to let me change my name, but instead want me to start a new account - and loose all of my previously earned status a travel points.

Computer consulting, business consulting, testing specialist, or even "Kelly Girl" are all great places to be able to strut your stuff in appropriate ways.

The thing is that if you are seriously thinking about working while dressed, you are probably transsexual and should really have a talk to your therapist about gender transition support.

If I really have to have a job, I probably already have as close as I'll ever get to dream job. I mean, what's not to like about working in air-conditioning around people on vacation, gambling, drinking, partying and the constant parade of beautifully enhanced gorgeous women. I have a wonderful female boss and along with uniforms, two company supplied meals a day, generous salary and pension and healthcare, what's not to like.

Now then, fantasy jobs? Dolly Parton's bra manager or restraint technician for BD films.

Fashion designer or something in the fashion design business. I even considered going to art college to study it at one point and would love to get involved in it at some level even now. I think it's the ideal job for a CD. No one bats an eyelid at effeminate men in that business. In fact it's almost a prerequisite. The fact that only do you make beautiful clothes but wear them as well would almost be applauded.

I would not want to work in a shop even a ladies clothes shop. Bad pay and long hours on your feet all day. Not interested.

Personally delivering exotic cars to their new owners, who live about 500 twisty turny miles from the dealership, and want the delivery man to 'break in' their car for them on the way to their house. And I promise not to wear heels while driving (which is a good idea in any situation). My first delivery will be the new BMW i8. 235614

Hi Isha, I must say to you that being retired is wonderful. As you say getting up when you want (everyday is like a sunday) and watching everybody else rushing to get to and from work. Then you are free to do as you please with no one giving you orders...do this do that. Stay in or go out...the world is yours.
I did my fifty years, so why should I not enjoy my life and my pension...I have earned it. One long holiday.

Julie.

Although I love being a nurse the only thing that could make it better is if I could be accepted as one of the girls. That being said, outside of nursing I would love to work in a shop that caters to us. I used to hang around Lee Brewster's Mardi Gras in NYC back in the 80's and 90's en femme and help customers with makeup, clothes and wig shopping. I just did it for fun and Lee appreciated the free help. I'm not out to anyone at work but my choice of shoes, uniform, and arched brows have raised a few others brows.

Well being an pretty fast typist, being great with IT and PC hardware in general, good organisation skills and a total mirror hog who has a secret 'thing' for satin blouses and pencil skirts,
It has to be secretary doesn't it?
I'd get to keep my nails nice, wear nice clothes, not get all sweaty from running around and generally just keep my appearance up because it isn't really manually demanding.
I'd get to gossip and chat about clothes and shoes...
I just reckon it'd be a gas.

And these aren't gender stereotypes - My mum has been a secretary for over 30 years, so I know what the job is because she tells me :p

After working twenty some years in the trades. I'd love to work in a full service salon doing hair, nails, makeup, etc. Every 6-8 weeks I color my wife's hair and some times do high lights. My niece (a hairdresser) can't ever get over how good it looks. I'm actually thinking about going back to school for it. I'm at a point in my life where I can and I'm ready to make a change in career.

Of course I thought of all of the fantasy jobs where I could happily cross dress continually but on reflection decided that the best job for a cross dresser is a high paying one. Given the economic freedom you could afford all of the lovely clothes, makeovers, wigs, shoes etc. etc. Of course you would only be able to dress in the evenings and weekends but think of the lovely clothes you would have and you could also afford some great vacations in CD friendly places.
