I am a male to female transgender and I have been on HRT for over 2 years (estradiol, spironolactone) and have found very little changes. I have no breast development and my body fat has not changed. I read some of the T-girl experiences on HRT and they seem pleased with their results as early as 3 months. Are there any reasons why I have not experienced many changes. I take the hormones as prescribed and am very dissapointed with the results. I still look masculine and I so desperately want to be feminine in my apparence.

Hi Emmi,

What have your endo and your primary care doctor said about the lack of apparent progress? Although we can't discuss the doses, have they been monitoring your levels?

HRT is a crap shoot, everyones different. I didn't get much in the way of breast development from hormones either, I had to buy mine. I got some fat redistribution, especially on my butt and legs, not so much on my face.

The face is tough because it's largely the underling bone structure that shapes it. You can "move" fat around all you want it's not going to change your bones.

Hi emmi, it's been a while since you posted. I'll echo others. HRT is about having the right endocrine chemistry. Nothing more. The feminizing effect is a by-product. How much feminizing is dependant on genetics and family. Plenty of women have no breasts and boyish bodies. They don't go and take estrogen supplements. They live with it or get breast surgery. That said, you may not be absorbing enough with your current dosages and intake method, and it can take years. I have changed more in my 6th year of HRT than in the previous ones combined.

Fat distribution is a misnomer. Fat does not move from one place to another. You start deposit fat in new places, but you have to lose the male-pattern fat.
