Just had a week and a half of home-alone time while my wife was away in USA visiting family. So, last Friday I had a day off work and arranged to meet a CD friend in Bristol. Had a leisurely start taking time over shaving and choosing what to wear. Then as I ate my breakfast the phone buzzed and the goalposts moved from 1pm to midday...help!!!! No time to waste - make-up done in haste but not rushing and away with just enough time to get there for twelve. But had to pause at the services for a visit to the toilet (only a single disabled facility so I opted for the ladies). Back on my way and arrived only a few minutes late. Lunch at Pizza Hut, no-one batting any obvious eyelids in our direction.
Then my friend announced that she was heading back into Bristol to meet SO and not coming shopping after all. Well, I wasn't going to let that stop me so off I went to John Lewis, browsing the ladieswear at leisure, had a conversation with a couple as I wandered - she was looking for something to wear to a wedding. But the highpoint of the day came at the East concession - I had tried on a dress and a skirt but reluctantly put both back on the rails because I don't like to pay full price. There was another lady holding the same dress I had just tried so I encouraged her to try it on, saying how lovely it had felt and as we chatted another complete stranger came smiling over to me, reached up and put her arms round my neck and kissed me on each cheek..."That's just because you are you", she said. You could have knocked me down with a feather and off she went to continue her browsing. My erstwhile stranger I was talking to looked at me and asked if that was someone I knew..."No", I said, never seen her in my life. And so our conversation continued about clothes and crossdressing for another 5-10 minutes.
It was a truly rewarding moment. And the icing on the cake was that when I got home and was checking my emails I found one giving me 20% off at East and my credit card statement arrived showing me over £100 in credit - so on the phone to East in Exeter, ordered the dress at 20% off, charging it to my card and am still in credit - brilliant! Feels like it was free!
Back to normal this week though - wife back home... :(
